Chapter 126: Between the Fangs of the Earth's Eye

It seemed that this was the only city in the northern part of the Yunshan Realm, and within the city, the atmosphere was lively—almost comparable to that of Deyang City. After wandering about slightly, Li Mu found his destination: a place called the “Earth Eye” district.
In this world, aside from the various sects, the Earth Eye district was the hub of information.
“What does this esteemed guest require?” The steward was notably hospitable; such a large establishment was naturally even more welcoming. He glanced at Li Mu’s cultivation and promptly brought over a cup of tea.
The steward wore a light gray robe embroidered with a peculiar purple eye that seemed to emit a faint glow, giving off an uncanny aura.
Li Mu was momentarily stunned. This steward carried an extraordinary presence, his expression restrained yet dignified. He was clearly a cultivator at the Refining Veins stage. Judging by the name “Earth Eye” and this district’s grandeur, it was indeed exceptional.
He bowed slightly. “I am Li Tian. I wish to acquire some information.”
The steward, seasoned and courteous, smiled warmly. “Ha ha, I am Zhao. What would you like to know, honored guest?”
“A certain elderly man with prominent eyebrows, whose cultivation should be around the Consolidation Pill stage.”
Zhao furrowed his brow slightly, and Li Mu’s eyes shifted in a strange way. “Are you referring to the man who was sealed in Deyang City some years ago?”
Li Mu nodded. “Indeed.”
Both shared the same thought: that great elder with the prominent eyebrows caused such a huge stir that the news could not help but spread. Everyone within the Yunshan Realm must have heard of it.
“Hmm... meddling with a Consolidation Pill stage cultivator—our shop is not entirely certain about that.” Zhao’s gaze sharpened as he studied Li Mu.
Li Mu understood and immediately took out some mid-grade spirit crystals, about twenty or so, placing them on the table.
Zhao nodded slightly, clearly pleased. “Ha ha, you came to the right place. That elder now goes by the title ‘Hao Big Eyebrows’...”
“His surname is Hao?” Li Mu asked with some surprise.
“That’s impossible to be wrong,” Zhao nodded decisively. “About half a month after the sealing of the forbidden city, the sect leader Wang Buzhi of the Jade Iron Sect received that information. He led over ten elders at the Refining Veins stage and above to set up a Sky-Sealing Array and fought that elder with the big eyebrows for nearly an hour and a half. The battle was truly dazzling and spectacular. But in the end, the elder with the big eyebrows seized the advantage, remained unscathed, and even sent Wang Buzhi and all the Jade Iron Sect cultivators into Deyang City. The city was sealed for an entire month, not a day less. After more than a month, as he was about to leave Deyang City, he openly declared ‘Hao certain person,’ and thus he came to be known as ‘Hao Big Eyebrows.’”
Hearing Zhao’s words, Li Mu felt a hint of admiration. Coming alone and defeating all of the Jade Iron Sect, then claiming to seal the city for more than a month—what a formidable spirit that must have been.
“What happened afterward?”
“That became a lifelong shame for the Jade Iron Sect. A few days later, Wang Buzhi left the Yunshan Realm and sought several cultivators from the Puyun Sect at the post-Consolidation Pill stage in the Green Cloud Realm, searching everywhere for Hao Big Eyebrows. It seemed they lost all traces of him within the Yunshan Realm. Others all say that Hao Big Eyebrows likely left the Yunshan Realm and went to another realm.” Zhao suddenly paused, staring at Li Mu.

“Did he really leave?” Li Mu felt somewhat disappointed.
Zhao nodded, then shook his head and squinted at Li Mu in silence.
Li Mu shook his head helplessly. Even though Zhao was a Refining Veins stage cultivator, essentially a businessman, why did such people always fall silent at the end? It was frustrating, but there was no other way.
Li Mu then took out some spirit crystals—about fifty—and placed them on the table.
Zhao shook his head. “Not enough.” He took out even more, and including the previous ones, there were about two hundred.
“Still not enough. Information about Hao Big Eyebrows isn’t so easily obtained.” Zhao’s expression was faint, merely shaking his head.
“Very well. If your information is useful.” Li Mu snorted coldly, then took out nearly five thousand mid-grade spirit crystals and placed them before Zhao.
Seeing the crystals, Zhao’s face lit up with satisfaction. “If you can pay this price, there must be information. While others say he left, our shop has sources suggesting Hao Big Eyebrows very likely did not leave but is still in the Yunshan Realm, near Deyang City.”
“Why do you say so, Steward Zhao? What’s the reason?”
“Reason? What reason would you have?” Zhao suddenly stood up, his eyes flashing brightly as he stared at Li Mu and whispered angrily, “You have probably never heard of the Earth Eye district before, right?”
A sudden threat accompanied by that gleam in his eyes drew closer like a biting cold wind.
Li Mu didn’t understand why Zhao’s expression changed so abruptly. In response, he unleashed all his spiritual perception. The two spiritual perceptions merged and probed repeatedly in a short time. Obviously, Zhao could not penetrate or discern Li Mu’s true strength directly through his spiritual perception.
Spirit-wise, Li Mu was actually above the average Refining Veins cultivator.
Zhao was clearly puzzled and retracted his perception, his face grimacing. “You are quite unexpected, honored guest.”
Li Mu took a sip of tea. “That’s all.”
“Your cultivation is quite high then. You must know the rules everywhere. The rule here is that when seeking information, only the final details will be revealed; intermediate matters will not be discussed.” Zhao pointed to a nearby jade tablet.
Li Mu looked closely. The jade tablet was inscribed with: “Every inquiry must be answered truthfully, with no deception. Matters sought will not be questioned for their origin.”
There were many taboos and rules in the cultivation world, truly not to be trifled with. The numerous sects scattered throughout the cultivation realms had increasingly complicated rules. Understanding this, Li Mu nodded slightly, fully aware.

Zhao then spoke slowly, “Our small shop has hundreds of branches across major cultivation realms, but here in the Yunshan Realm, it is quite small. Our information is never wrong.”
Li Mu smiled and bowed politely. “It is my first visit back, forgive me if I caused any offense.”
Zhao sat down slowly, smiling as if the earlier inspection never happened. “Very well, no ignorance is without fault. Li guest, if there is anything you need, just say it all.”
Li Mu pondered. “Steward Zhao, do you have any information on the Wuwang Technique?”
“Oh?”
Surprise flashed across Zhao’s face as he stood straighter, his voice rising somewhat. “The Wuwang Technique? What you ask is beyond my ability. No cultivation realm has ever found it. If you indeed have information, our shop could offer a very high price, much more than now.”
Zhao’s face reddened, clearly quite embarrassed. Such a reaction was unusual for a Refining Veins cultivator of his caliber.
Li Mu hurriedly shook his head. “Steward Zhao, you jest. How could I possess information on the Wuwang Technique? I was merely speaking casually.”
Zhao looked at Li Mu intently for a moment. Seeing Li Mu take no action, he shook his head and sighed, “I was somewhat rude earlier. Please forgive me. Our shop’s owner has been searching for this technique for a long time, but over many years, there has been no information, and no one speaks of it. When you mentioned it just now, I was excited and acted impulsively.”
“But tell me, honored guest, how do you know of the Wuwang Technique? Few know of such a method.” Zhao’s expression grew somewhat grave.
Li Mu smiled. “I saw it in an old book. The name sounded quite strange, so I asked.”
“Ha ha, the book you saw must be quite ancient. After the destruction of the Wuwang Sect, which once ruled many realms, few mention it anymore. Some cultivation realms have even erased it from records. The Wuwang Sword Technique contains the Wuwang Technique, which has been lost for thousands of years. If it were rediscovered, it would surely cause a great stir.”
Zhao settled his mind and seemed to recall something.
Li Mu knew nothing about the Wuwang Sect or the Wuwang Sword Technique, nor had he fabricated any book. Now he felt a twinge of regret for casually mentioning the Wuwang Technique. Such matters should be investigated personally. Yet he could not have imagined the Wuwang Technique carried such weight, that merely speaking of it would provoke such shock.
“You are still young and inexperienced. You must be very careful in the future. I hope today’s casual remark doesn’t cause too much trouble,” Li Mu muttered to himself.
“I must take my leave now. Farewell.”
Li Mu slowly walked out of the Earth Eye district. Zhao watched him leave, murmuring to himself, “Li Tian... Wuwang Technique...”
