Chapter 49: Not Leaving Until Drunk
Moreover, listening to the bold talk between Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong, it seemed as if they were determined not to leave until thoroughly drunk… Li Yi glanced at the two, speechless. This was truly unbearable! The quality of the wine at the Drunken Immortal Pavilion aside, Li Yi had a beauty by his side—how could he sit around drinking like these two bachelors? Comparing the two, it was clear… that accompanying a beautiful woman was far more important. Li Yi also intended to check on his future father-in-law’s condition; he really had no time to spare.
With this in mind, Li Yi cleared his throat. “Chumo, Luo, I have matters to attend to today. How about another day? Next time, I’ll prepare fine wine and drink to our hearts’ content with you both!” He smiled politely, making his intentions very clear.
“Uh…” reminded by Li Yi, Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong paused, finally realizing there were two people beside Li Yi. They both turned to look. As they scrutinized them, they suddenly realized that one of them was the Fifth Princess, disguised as a man! Their hearts skipped a beat, nearly making them stumble.
“Your servant greets the Princess…” They quickly tried to salute, but before they could finish, Li Lizhi waved her hand, signaling them not to cause a commotion. “Generals, please dispense with formalities; there are many people here with loose tongues. Quickly, no need for ceremony!”
“Oh… yes, thank you, Young Master…” The two caught on and quickly changed their address. Standing up, they cast Li Yi a look full of admiration—‘Brother Li, you’re quite something…’
Li Yi’s lips twitched; he wished he could give them both a beating. But after considering it, he realized he wasn’t their equal in terms of martial prowess, so he buried the idea deep in his heart. The next time they drank together, he would make sure to get them thoroughly drunk first, then finally settle the score…
At that moment, the attendant came over carrying a food box. Seeing how respectful Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong were to Li Yi’s companions, the attendant immediately realized these two must not be ordinary people.
He handed the food box to Yue’er, then respectfully stepped back, forcing himself to smile naturally. “Young Master Li, this is the ‘Orleans Set Meal’ packed and ready. Just heat it up when you get home for immediate enjoyment.” As for any additional words, the attendant dared not utter a single unnecessary word. Silence was the safest strategy.
Li Yi nodded, glanced at Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong, and instructed the attendant, “Attendant, prepare two sets for Chumo and Luo as well, and bring a jug of good wine. Put it on my bill.”
The attendant paused, then nodded quickly. “Yes, Young Master.” With a bow to everyone, he turned and hurried to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Li Lizhi turned and left first. Li Yi, after bidding farewell to Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong, followed her out of the Drunken Immortal Pavilion.
…
Watching Li Yi leave side by side with Li Lizhi, Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong were still somewhat stunned. But as they headed toward Room Number One, they noticed that many diners around them were casting envious glances, leaving the two feeling inexplicably awkward.
It was as if they’d been stripped bare in public, making them both extremely uncomfortable.
Cheng Chumo, with his straightforward nature, couldn’t stand the strange looks. He immediately glared at those nearby and bellowed, “What are you staring at? Is there a flower on our faces?”
Those shouted at didn’t get angry. Instead, one swallowed and replied sheepishly, “Young Master Cheng, we’re just envious of your good fortune! The Orleans Set Meal is already sold out today, but you two get to try it!”
“Indeed!” another person praised, giving a thumbs-up. “Young Master Cheng, Young Master Luo, that Orleans Set Meal is truly delicious!”
“Just thinking about it keeps me awake for three days and nights…” another diner sighed with longing, the sound of a swallow quietly escaping his throat.
None of the surrounding diners scorned him for this; instead, they all wore the same expression.
Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong exchanged bewildered glances and entered the room, still unconvinced.
Despite everyone’s words, the two weren’t entirely persuaded. After a brief whispered discussion, they decided to ask for clarification.
“Attendant, come here.” Luo Tong called over a busy attendant and asked directly, “Tell me, is the Orleans Set Meal really sold out?”
“To be honest, Young Master, it is indeed sold out,” the attendant replied honestly. “If anyone else wants to eat it, they’ll have to come back tomorrow! But… Young Master Li gave instructions—if you two wish to eat, please enjoy to your heart’s content!”
Cheng Chumo and Luo Tong were instantly left speechless, waving the attendant away.
The attendant’s words echoed in their minds, leaving them unsettled for a long time.
They never expected that Li Yi was so influential. Even when the Orleans Set Meal was sold out, with just a casual word from him, they could eat as much as they wished.
Moreover, judging from the attendant’s fawning manner, it seemed… he held Li Yi in very high regard.
“What exactly is the relationship between Manager Xu of the Drunken Immortal Pavilion and Brother Bo’an?” they wondered.
Soon, steaming hot Orleans Set Meals were served. The two snapped out of their reverie, and after just one bite, they instantly fell in love, staring wide-eyed at each other.
“This Orleans Set Meal is absolutely delicious!”
“The rumors were true!”
Exchanging a glance, they began to wolf down their food. In no time, the meals were finished.
“Attendant, bring two more!” Cheng Chumo shouted, wiping his mouth.
Luo Tong swallowed, turned to Cheng Chumo with a mischievous grin, and said, “Chumo, is this really okay?”
“What’s wrong with it?” Cheng Chumo shrugged it off. Raising his cup, he and Luo Tong drank deeply, then Cheng Chumo pounded his chest and laughed loudly, “Bo’an is our brother! If he can’t drink with us, at least we can eat our fill, right?”
“Chumo, that’s a great idea!” Luo Tong gave a thumbs-up, nodded in agreement, and raised his cup with a chuckle, “Tonight, we won’t leave until we’re drunk!”
“That’s right—no leaving until drunk! We must eat him poor and avenge our last drunken defeat…”
“Haha…”
