“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just need a little rest.”
Lin Feng managed a faint smile as he spoke, seeing that she had completely recovered.
Su Qingxue was deeply moved; she hadn’t expected Lin Feng to disregard his own well-being just to save her.
She then fetched a towel for him, helped him loosen his clothes, and gently wiped the sweat from his body.
Though his strength was depleted, Lin Feng’s mind remained clear. He half-opened his eyes and saw Su Qingxue so close to him, her skin brushing against his from time to time, her body emanating a delicate fragrance.
Unconsciously, hazy images began to surface in his thoughts.
Su Qingxue tended to him with unusual care; after wiping the sweat from his body, she helped him change into fresh sleepwear and washed all the clothes he had worn before.
She stayed by his side the entire night, worried that he might need her and find no one there.
At some point, she leaned against the bedside and drifted off to sleep.
When dawn broke, Lin Feng awoke to find Su Qingxue asleep at his bedside and realized she hadn’t left his side all night.
He rose quietly and gently covered her with a blanket, hoping she could rest a little longer. But just then, as he brushed against her hair, Su Qingxue stirred and slowly opened her eyes.
“Lin Feng, you’re awake! How are you feeling?” she asked anxiously as she saw him sit up.
“I’m fine now, thank you, Qingxue. You really worked hard last night,” Lin Feng replied, his smile full of gratitude.
“I should be the one thanking you. If not for you last night, I might not even be alive now. And you nearly exhausted yourself saving me—you have no idea how worried I was,” she said, her concerned gaze tinged with urgency. Her eyes met Lin Feng’s, and seeing his surprised expression, her heart suddenly jolted and she snapped back to herself.
Realizing her words had slipped, she blushed furiously, hurriedly averting her eyes in embarrassment. “Don’t get the wrong idea—I mean, you saved me, that’s why I…”
“There’s no need to explain. I understand,” Lin Feng cut her off with a gentle smile, seeing her flustered and at a loss for words.
He then got out of bed and tried walking a few steps. Most of his strength had returned, though he knew he’d need some days of rest to fully recover after consuming so much inner energy the night before.
“Lin Feng, I’ll go buy you some breakfast. Wait here for me,” Su Qingxue said, regaining her composure and preparing to leave.
Lin Feng caught her soft hand, smiling as he said, “There’s no need. Let me do it. I’d like you to try my cooking.”

“What? You can cook?”
Su Qingxue stared at him in disbelief, her eyes wide with surprise.
“I know a little,” Lin Feng answered, then went to the kitchen to busy himself.
Su Qingxue never expected Lin Feng’s cooking would be a thousand times better than hers. When he brought over several delicious dishes and two steaming bowls of porridge, she was utterly stunned.
“Wow, Lin Feng, your cooking is amazing! It could rival a five-star hotel chef!” she exclaimed after tasting a few bites, giving him a thumbs up.
“You flatter me—I just learned a bit online,” Lin Feng replied with a calm smile, content to see her enjoying the meal.
As they ate, Lin Feng’s phone suddenly rang. It was Zhou Liran calling. He picked up right away: “Hello, Chairman Zhou.”
“Mr. Lin, how did things go last night? Did you find Miss Su? Was there any trouble?”
Zhou Liran had wanted to help the previous evening, but Lin Feng had refused. He’d been worried ever since, and when he couldn’t reach Lin Feng by phone, he called again first thing in the morning.
“Don’t worry, I found her. Thank you for your concern, Chairman Zhou,” Lin Feng replied with a smile. Then, recalling their discussion about the medicinal formula, he added, “By the way, about the details of the formula we discussed last night, I’ll come by later to talk further.”
“Please prepare a medicine furnace and a few herbs…”
“No problem, I’ll have someone get everything ready for you. See you soon at the company,” Zhou Liran said, noting down all the herbs Lin Feng needed before hanging up.
Turning back, Lin Feng looked at Su Qingxue. “Qingxue, I need to stop by Liran Group. The new formula they’re developing might lead to a collaboration with Su Bank as well.”
“Really?” Su Qingxue’s face lit up with joy. If that were true, it would be wonderful.
Lin Feng nodded, then finished breakfast with her. Afterward, they parted ways—he to Liran Group, she to Su Bank.
Su Qingxue felt an uncommon delight; ever since meeting Lin Feng, everything seemed to go so smoothly.

After cleaning up the dishes, she drove to Su Bank. But as she entered, she was surprised to find her mother and grandmother sitting in her office, both with stern faces.
“Mom, Grandma, what brings you here?” Su Qingxue asked curiously as she approached.
“Hmph, and you still have the audacity to call me Grandma?”
Old Madam Su tapped her cane on the floor, her tone harsh. “I heard that last night, Lin Feng and the chairman of Liran Group had a very pleasant, long conversation.”
“If Lin Feng already knew the chairman of Liran Group, why didn’t you tell me about such an important matter?”
“Grandma, Lin Feng only met Chairman Zhou when he accompanied me to discuss the collaboration. They weren’t acquainted before. Besides, I think it’s a good thing he’s willing to help us. I don’t understand why you…”
“Enough!”
Old Madam Su fixed her with a cold glare and interrupted, “It’s true that his help benefits us, but anyone who stays in the Su family must be someone we know inside and out. If he ever turns against the Su family, wouldn’t we be completely in the dark?”
“From now on, you’d better keep your distance from Lin Feng. Someone as inscrutable as him is not someone the Su family can afford to use.”
“Grandma…”
“That’s enough. Your mother and I are here for another reason today. You should know your brother was seriously injured by Lin Feng and expelled from the Su family.”
“No one is managing his real estate business now, so I want you to take over for him,” Old Madam Su said coldly, cutting her off.
“Su Shifeng was expelled from the Su family? When did that happen?” Su Qingxue asked in shock.
She had wondered why Su Shifeng hadn’t been bothering her lately and thought he might have turned over a new leaf, but apparently, he’d been expelled.
Lin Feng hadn’t mentioned any of this to her.
“Don’t pretend in front of me. Don’t think I don’t know you and Lin Feng are in cahoots,” Old Madam Su said icily. “Now, there is a piece of land under Shifeng’s name that’s crucial to the Su family’s business. You’ll replace him and secure that land.”
“As for the money to purchase the land, you’ll advance it for now. Once the deal is done, I’ll reimburse you.”
