Chapter 42: A Chance Encounter with Li Bing'er
"What are you talking about? I don't understand." Master He’s eyes darted back and forth as he repeatedly denied it.
In truth, when Lin Feng had exchanged moves with him just now, he noticed that the poison technique Master He used was exactly the same as the one behind the giant spider that appeared at Su Qingxue’s villa yesterday. It was clear—Master He was the culprit!
"You don’t understand?" A chill flashed in Lin Feng’s eyes. In a flash, he appeared before Master He, seized his throat, and threatened coldly, "If you don’t talk, today will be the day you die."
Whoosh!
A ball of flame suddenly enveloped Master He’s head, roasting him alive until he felt he would soon be cooked.
"Spare me, please, spare me!" Within seconds, Master He was unable to endure the searing pain and begged Lin Feng for mercy. He had only worked for the Bai family to earn some money; he never intended to lose his life here.
"Then speak—who ordered you to do this?" Lin Feng demanded coldly.
"It... it was Young Master Bai. He told me to do it," Master He finally confessed, revealing everything to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng’s brow furrowed. He turned back to glare icily at Bai Tianjiao, making Bai’s face flush with panic. Bai hurried to defend himself, "What nonsense are you spouting? Who told you to poison anyone?"
"Su Qingxue was once my fiancée. Why would I want to poison her?"
"Bai Tianjiao, stop playing the good guy. You knew long ago Su Qingxue didn’t want to marry you, so you conspired with the Su family and had me use a parasite to control her. That way, your plan would succeed!"
Master He showed no hesitation, exposing all the dirty dealings between Bai Tianjiao and the Su family.
Hearing this, Lin Feng’s fists clenched so hard they cracked.
Bai Tianjiao saw the fury in Lin Feng’s eyes and shook his head in panic. "I didn’t! Lin Feng, don’t believe him. I really didn’t hurt anyone!"
Smack!
Without warning, Lin Feng struck out with a palm from a distance. Bai Tianjiao was sent flying several meters, crashing heavily into the wall. He fell with a thud, his spine snapping on impact. Writhing in agony, he howled ceaselessly from the pain.
"Someone—help! Guards, now!"
Bai Zhenshan was beside himself with terror, shouting desperately for the bodyguards outside.
But Lin Feng paid them no heed. Before they could rush in, he thrust out a palm at the door, sending the guards flying down the stairs.
Now, Bai Zhenshan was utterly petrified. Without a second thought, he fell to his knees and begged Lin Feng for mercy. "Lin Feng, we admit our fault! We promise never to oppose you again. We were blinded before—please spare the Bai family!"
"Hmph. I’ll let your past actions slide, but from this day forth, if you ever lay a finger on Qingxue again, there will be nowhere left for you to bury your bones."
Lin Feng had no intention of settling old scores with Bai Zhenshan. Instead, he let him live so he could be used as evidence against Old Lady Su one day.
Seeing Lin Feng relent, Bai Zhenshan quickly nodded. "Yes, I understand. I promise never to go after Su Qingxue again."
"Lin Feng, what do you mean? You’re not going to kill him? He’s the one who ordered everything!"
Master He saw Lin Feng’s icy gaze turn toward him and quickly protested.
"The Bai family may be the mastermind, but you were the one who carried out their orders. Killing you is simply enacting justice."
As Lin Feng finished speaking, a flash of light flickered between his fingers. In a blur, he slashed Master He’s throat. Blood spurted forth, and Master He collapsed instantly.
Both Bai Zhenshan and Bai Tianjiao broke out in cold sweat, their faces white as sheets, utterly terrified by the ruthlessness of Lin Feng’s actions.
Only when Master He had breathed his last did Lin Feng release him. He turned to Bai Zhenshan and said, "Remember this—you Bai family now owe me two lives. If you show me any more disrespect, I’ll claim the lives of both father and son."
"Yes, yes! Please rest assured, Divine Doctor Lin. I promise we won’t dare cross you again," Bai Zhenshan agreed without hesitation.
Surviving Lin Feng’s wrath was already a blessing beyond hope.
Lin Feng turned and strode out of the Bai family estate.
"Father, that Lin Feng is terrifying. Master He was one of the top poison masters in the whole city, yet Lin Feng killed him with his bare hands. If we let Lin Feng live, it will only spell more trouble for our family."
After Lin Feng left, Bai Tianjiao, enduring the pain, crawled over to Bai Zhenshan.
Wiping the cold sweat from his brow, Bai Zhenshan replied in a low voice, "Lin Feng’s strength is unfathomable. If we oppose him head-on, we’ll only lose. But perhaps we can start with the Su family."
"His weakness is Su Qingxue. As long as we control her, we’ll have a way to deal with him."
"That’s true. Lin Feng can’t always be by her side. If I ever get the chance, I won’t let her go," Bai Tianjiao said viciously, clenching his fists.
"Also, send someone to Jiulong Mountain to inform Master He’s teacher that Lin Feng killed his disciple. Once his master hears of this, he’ll surely come to avenge him."
"Then we’ll have another ally," Bai Zhenshan added.
"Father, you’re truly shrewd," Bai Tianjiao praised, giving a thumbs-up.
After leaving the Bai family villa, Lin Feng took a car straight back to Su Bank. He needed to continue protecting Su Qingxue. Though he had dealt with one poison master today, he couldn’t be sure there weren’t other dangers lurking in the shadows.
"Hey, are you going to get up or not? I’m telling you, I won’t give you a cent. I didn’t even touch you just now!"
As he walked, a familiar voice caught Lin Feng’s attention from outside the car.
Turning his head, he saw a crowd gathered at a street corner. In the center stood a familiar figure, berating an elderly woman on the ground.
"Why is it her?" Lin Feng frowned. The person was none other than Li Bing’er.
She seemed to have gotten herself into some trouble. From what Lin Feng knew, although she had a bit of a temper, at heart she was a good person and would never do anything bad.
"Driver, stop the car up ahead."
At Lin Feng’s instruction, the driver pulled over. Lin Feng paid the fare, got out, and headed into the crowd.
"Everyone, please judge fairly! This young lady hit someone and now refuses to admit it!"
"I’m so old—do you think I’d frame someone for money?"
The elderly woman clung stubbornly to Li Bing’er’s trouser leg, refusing to let her go, all the while pleading with the onlookers.
The crowd pointed accusingly at Li Bing’er, all siding with the old woman.
"Miss, you drive such a nice car. Are you really short a few thousand? Since you hit someone, you should pay up and apologize. Make it right," someone urged.
"Exactly! Such a pretty girl, but your character is rotten. You hit someone and still act so self-righteous. I wonder how your family raised you—no manners at all."
"Girl, pay up! Otherwise, you won’t be able to leave today!"
"Hey, what nonsense is this? I didn’t hit her at all—she’s just trying to scam me! Stop accusing me for no reason!"
Li Bing’er, furious, shouted back at the crowd, but no one believed her. If only her dashcam hadn’t broken—she would have proved her innocence by now.
At that moment, Lin Feng squeezed through the crowd with a cheerful smile. "Everyone, make way. I know exactly what happened here."
