Chapter 24: Get Out
Boom!
Old Madam Su was so shocked by Bai Dingshan’s words that she staggered back several steps. She had never imagined Bai Dingshan would renege on his promise so brazenly. The rest of the Su family were equally terrified, thoughts racing—this is the end of the Su family!
Only Lin Feng’s expression remained unchanged, his face almost amused by Bai Dingshan’s remark. He shook his head lightly, casting a glance at Bai Dingshan and sighed, “Old Bai, you really are naive. Did you really think I completely cured your son’s illness?”
“He looks fine now, but why don’t you let him stand and walk a few steps? See if he’s truly recovered.”
“What do you mean?” Bai Dingshan’s arrogance faded in an instant. He looked curiously at his son and said, “Tianjiao, get up and walk a few steps. See if anything feels off.”
“All right, Dad.” Bai Tianjiao felt no discomfort at all. Using his arms, he pushed himself off the bed, but as soon as he released his hands, his legs gave way—there was no sensation at all—and he collapsed to the floor.
He stared in shock at his legs, trying desperately to move them, but it was as if they weren’t his own.
“Dad, I’m paralyzed! My legs won’t obey me, please help me!” Bai Tianjiao cried, his eyes brimming with tears as he clung to Bai Dingshan’s clothes.
Cold sweat broke out on Bai Dingshan’s forehead. He rushed to his son’s side to help him up, but the moment he let go, Bai Tianjiao’s body crumpled again, unable to support itself.
He turned to look at Lin Feng, who stood calmly, as if he had known all along this would be the outcome.
“Why are you all just standing there? Hurry and see what’s wrong with my son!” Bai Dingshan realized he had fallen into Lin Feng’s trap, but refused to give up, urgently beckoning the team of doctors to examine his son.
One by one, the doctors checked Bai Tianjiao, their faces growing increasingly grave. They could only shake their heads helplessly.
One senior physician spoke plainly, “Chairman Bai, Young Master Bai’s leg nerves are completely necrotic. With current medical technology, there’s no hope of recovery—he will be paralyzed for life.”
“What? Paralyzed for life?”
Bai Dingshan felt as if thunder had crashed through his mind. He had always thought their medical expertise was unrivaled in Jiangcheng, but now it was clear—they were all useless!
Useless among the useless!
“Dad, please save me. I don’t want to be paralyzed for life. I beg you, you must cure me!” Bai Tianjiao, panicked by the doctor’s verdict, desperately clung to Bai Dingshan, pleading.
“Don’t worry, son. I’ll find a way to cure your legs,” Bai Dingshan reassured him with all his might.
“Stop wasting your efforts. I already told you—apart from me, no one can cure him. I gave you a chance just now. If you hadn’t tried to play games with me, I would have cured him on the spot.”
“But now, it’s all your own doing.” Lin Feng spoke again, utterly extinguishing any hope.
Bai Dingshan stared at Lin Feng in astonishment; this time, he dared not show any disrespect. He approached Lin Feng with the utmost humility, begging, “Divine Doctor Lin, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have offended you just now. I swear I’ll never disrespect you again.”
“Please, save my son. I’m begging you.”
“I don’t want to see any of you right now. Leave at once. When I feel like it, I’ll treat his illness. It won’t be too late then,” Lin Feng replied coldly, dismissing him. As Bai Dingshan tried to say more, Lin Feng had already turned away, walking over to Su Qingxue to escort her back to the villa.
Seeing Lin Feng enter the villa, the rest of the Su family followed him without hesitation.
Only beside Lin Feng did they feel safe.
Bai Dingshan, his face full of despair, watched as Lin Feng disappeared into the villa. With nothing else to do, he could only leave for now, hoping to return once Lin Feng’s temper cooled.
Inside the villa, Lin Feng smiled at Su Qingxue, “Qingxue, the Bai family won’t dare bother you anymore. You’re free.”
“Thank you, Lin Feng. You truly are a good man.” Su Qingxue blushed, praising Lin Feng.
Lin Feng also smiled, and as the two enjoyed their conversation, Liu Farong, whom Lin Feng had just saved, suddenly snorted, “Lin Feng, you’d better stay away from our Qingxue from now on.”
“Our Su family isn’t the sort you can aspire to join. Besides, you’ve offended the Bai family—they won’t let you off, and you’ll only drag us Su family down with you.”
“Mother, how can you say that? Lin Feng just saved our family!” Su Qingxue protested, her tone displeased.
Liu Farong’s face darkened, and she stared at Su Qingxue sternly, “This isn’t your place to speak. The Su family’s affairs are not for you to decide.”
“Exactly. If it weren’t for Lin Feng provoking the Bai family, how could we have ended up like this? It’s all Lin Feng’s fault,” Su Shifeng chimed in, fueling the fire.
Su Qingxue was on the verge of collapse from anger. She was about to retort when Old Madam Su tapped the floor sharply and said in a cold voice, “Enough. The Bai family has left. Why are you still arguing?”
“Mom, it’s clearly Lin Feng’s fault—how could you…”
“Take me home. From today on, unless I permit it, none of you are allowed to come here and disturb Qingxue,” Old Madam Su interrupted Liu Farong’s protest, issuing a stern command.
Liu Farong was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Old Madam Su to side with Lin Feng—could it be she was tacitly accepting him?
Her heart was full of doubts, but seeing Old Madam Su’s expression remain severe, she dared not ask more and left quietly with her son.
Once they were in the car, Old Madam Su finally spoke, “You two useless fools. In that situation, you opposed Lin Feng—were you trying to get yourselves killed?”
“Lin Feng’s abilities are extraordinary; he even outwitted the Bai family. Do you think you can handle him?”
“Grandmother, so you haven’t accepted Lin Feng? I thought you wanted him to stay in the Su family,” Su Shifeng said, relieved.
“Hmph. Someone like Lin Feng only brings trouble. If he stayed in the Su family, wouldn’t he ruin it? He shows no respect for elders and has no sense of propriety. The Su family will never keep someone like him,” Old Madam Su said coldly. After thinking for a few seconds, she added seriously, “You two, go arrange a banquet and invite Lin Feng. I have my own way of dealing with him.”
“Grandmother, do you mean…” Su Shifeng murmured, sensing her intentions.
