Chapter 22 Settling Scores All at Once

He walked with a limp, his whole body weak and feeble, looking as if he would be crushed under the weight of the sedan chair—becoming the biggest laughingstock of the entire gathering! Not only did the adults laugh, even the children couldn't help but giggle, their mouths stretched wide with mirth. Su Shifeng was utterly humiliated; as onlookers all around pointed their phones to record him, he wished he could disappear into the cracks in the wall. For all of this, he blamed Lin Feng entirely.

Inside the sedan chair, Su Qingxue felt every jolt and bump, struggling to sit steadily. Unconsciously, she kept bumping into Lin Feng, her heart fluttering wildly in her chest like a trapped deer.

Suddenly, Su Shifeng lost his footing, nearly toppling the chair and almost sending Su Qingxue tumbling out as well. Fortunately, Lin Feng reacted swiftly, his arm wrapping around her slender waist and pulling her firmly into his embrace.

For a moment, their eyes locked in a deep gaze, their bodies pressed so closely together that an indescribable feeling welled up inside her. Lin Feng, too, felt a current of electricity surge through his body as he held her, his hand supporting her waist and helping her regain balance.

After a brief while, the sedan chair steadied. As he released Su Qingxue, her cheeks flushed a deep red, and she lowered her gaze, too embarrassed to look at him again. Lin Feng said little on the journey.

More than half an hour later, the sedan chair finally arrived at the gates of the Su family's villa. The moment Lin Feng and Su Qingxue stepped down, Su Shifeng collapsed on his knees, panting like a dog, utterly exhausted and nearly paralyzed. Lin Feng couldn't help but find his misery amusing—all of it richly deserved.

Madam Su and Liu Farong, hearing the commotion outside, came out to see what was happening. They were stunned to see Su Shifeng collapsed on the ground. Especially Liu Farong—her eyes flashed with fury at the sight, her hatred for Lin Feng boiling over.

"Madam Su, I've brought Qingxue back to you," Lin Feng announced. "Remember what you promised me: this cooperation between the Su family and Liran Group can only be managed by Qingxue. Furthermore, until the project is complete, no one else is to interfere or sabotage it in any way. If you do, I promise you'll suffer the consequences."

"Don't worry," Madam Su replied with a cold expression. "The Su family has always kept its word. I accept all your terms." Though she longed to teach Lin Feng a lesson, for the sake of her family's interests, she had no choice but to swallow her pride and agree.

"Surround everyone from the Su family!"

Just as they were about to return to the villa to discuss the contract in detail, a coarse, raspy shout rang out from the distance.

Everyone turned to look and saw dozens of men in black suits rushing forward, swiftly encircling the Su family. The leader strode forward, and Madam Su's heart clenched in terror at the sight of him. Liu Farong trembled, instinctively shrinking behind Madam Su.

The newcomer was none other than the head of the Bai family, Bai Zhenshan.

"My, what wind blows the esteemed Master Bai to our humble home today?" Madam Su quickly stepped forward with a forced smile, her tone respectful yet probing, for she did not know why he had come.

"Hmph! Drop the act," Bai Zhenshan barked, his voice thunderous. "You Su family have some nerve, sending people to assault my son. Do you think you can ignore the Bai family?"

Madam Su was dumbstruck, hastily explaining, "Master Bai, what do you mean? No matter how bold we may be, we would never dare lay a finger on your son. This must be a misunderstanding!"

She had feared Bai Zhenshan had come over the broken engagement with Su Qingxue, but on hearing his words, her expression shifted abruptly.

None of the Su family's bodyguards dared step forward; everyone knew the Bai family's status in Jiangcheng was untouchable—far beyond what the Su family could contend with.

"Misunderstanding? Hmph! Do you have someone named Lin Feng in your household? He's the one who hit my son. Hand him over immediately, or I'll wipe out your entire family!" Bai Zhenshan's rough voice thundered.

A chill ran through Madam Su's heart—so it was Lin Feng again!

Before she could react, Liu Farong, suddenly enlightened and secretly delighted, hurried forward, her eyes darting as she pointed at Lin Feng. "Master Bai, that's Lin Feng. He has nothing to do with our Su family. If you wish to take him, feel free—just please don't drag the Su family into this."

"Mother!"

Su Qingxue's beautiful eyes widened as she cut her mother off anxiously, "Lin Feng is my benefactor and my friend. I will not let the Bai family take him away."

"Someone, pull her back and take her to her room!" Liu Farong, her eyes fierce, quickly ordered the bodyguards, afraid Su Qingxue would say more than she should.

But as the bodyguards approached Su Qingxue, Lin Feng stepped forward, icy and unyielding, blocking their path with a threat, "I dare any of you to touch her."

At once, the bodyguards froze, not daring to make a move. Liu Farong, seeing the murderous gleam in Lin Feng's eyes, was too frightened to speak.

Bai Zhenshan watched the scene in surprise, noticing the closeness between Lin Feng and Su Qingxue. His face darkened as he asked coldly, "Lin Feng, what is your relationship with the Su family's eldest daughter?"

"What business is it of yours?" Lin Feng replied disdainfully, glancing at Bai Zhenshan with a mocking smirk. "You can't control your son—he goes around insulting others. If he gets beaten, he deserves it. And you have the gall to come here for revenge?"

"What did you say?" Bai Zhenshan's face turned crimson with rage, his fists clenching as he shouted.

Madam Su, pale with fright, hurried forward and glared at Lin Feng. "Lin Feng, keep your mouth shut! Do you know who Master Bai is? How dare you show him disrespect?"

"Master Bai, I can assure you—this Lin Feng has no relationship whatsoever with my granddaughter, nor does he have anything to do with the Su family. Whatever he's done, he brought it on himself. Please, punish him as you see fit."

"Is that so?" Bai Zhenshan sneered, casting a cold glance at Madam Su. "From what I see, your granddaughter cares for him deeply. In her eyes, this Lin Feng is held in higher regard than even the Bai family. Clearly, you planned to break off the engagement with us long ago. In that case, there's no need for me to show your family any courtesy. Men! Seize this brat and kill him, then destroy the Su family!"

With a thud, Madam Su collapsed onto the ground in terror. Recovering herself, she crawled over and knelt before Bai Zhenshan, pleading, "Master Bai, I swear the Su family has never disrespected you. Rest assured, Su Qingxue will never betray the Bai family. On her wedding day, I will see to it she marries into your family and severs all ties with Lin Feng—never to meet him again."

"There's no need," Bai Zhenshan replied resolutely, his gaze icy as he looked at Lin Feng. "You have no more chances. Today, this boy dies here. And since you sheltered the one who attacked my son, your family will pay for his crime as well."
