Chen Yuanyuan helped Zhang Xiaofan into the car, took the driver's seat herself, activated the navigation system, and slowly drove out onto the dirt road.

By the time they reached the Zanglong Mountain highway, it was nearly eight o’clock.

Instead of heading straight home, Chen Yuanyuan drove Zhang Xiaofan directly to the hospital.

Given the severity of his injuries, hospital treatment was imperative. Not long after getting into the car, Zhang Xiaofan had fallen asleep. The battle with the Blood Butcher, though victorious, had left him physically and mentally exhausted.

When they arrived at the hospital and parked, Zhang Xiaofan instinctively woke up. Seeing the hospital building through the car window, he understood Chen Yuanyuan’s intention.

Indeed, having his wounds stitched up here would accelerate his recovery.

“You’re awake. I’ve already called ahead—someone will be here soon. Don’t move around; don’t touch the wound,” Chen Yuanyuan said as she unbuckled her seatbelt, moved to the back seat, and gently held the blood-soaked Zhang Xiaofan to make him as comfortable as possible.

“Did you call the emergency room?” Shortly afterward, a female doctor appeared accompanied by two male doctors, who were pushing a stretcher.

“Yes. My husband is injured. Please hurry and treat his wounds; they need stitching,” Chen Yuanyuan said anxiously.

The female doctor glanced at Zhang Xiaofan in Chen Yuanyuan’s arms, taking in his bloodied state and the blood-stained long red blade resting by the back seat. She frowned. Who was this man?

Was he an assassin? Or some kind of gangster? This beautiful woman, about her age, driving a Hummer, why would she be with such a man?

A string of doubts crossed her mind, but regardless of the patient, she was a doctor, and her duty was to treat him.

“Take him to the emergency room first,” the female doctor instructed the two men behind her.

The two male doctors stepped forward to lift Zhang Xiaofan, but he waved them off, saying, “No need. I’ll walk myself.”

He stood up and climbed out of the car, but as he moved, blood seeped through the bandages around his upper lip.

“I told you not to move! Why won’t you listen? Seeing you like this breaks my heart...” Chen Yuanyuan hurriedly stepped forward, wrapping one arm around Zhang Xiaofan’s waist and pressing her other hand gently against the bleeding wound.

“This kind of injury is nothing,” Zhang Xiaofan said softly, looking at Chen Yuanyuan. He had sustained far worse injuries during their previous encounters at Longhun.

The female doctor stared at him in disbelief. She could already see the long, deep gash. Such a severe wound—was this man made of iron? How could he still walk on his own?

Then Zhang Xiaofan’s next words caught the doctor off guard.

“Doctor, why are you staring at me? Have you taken a fancy to me? I’m covered in blood. Aren’t you scared?” he smiled.

“I’ve seen plenty of thugs like you. If you want treatment, hurry up. If you insist on walking, then be quick about it. We’re short-staffed tonight, and I have other patients to attend to,” the female doctor replied flatly.

“Look at you trying to flirt now,” Chen Yuanyuan rolled her eyes at Zhang Xiaofan, tempted to pinch his flesh but refrained, knowing he was badly hurt.

Zhang Xiaofan glanced at the beautiful doctor and then said, “Alright, let’s go.”

He walked into the hospital, and the female doctor, surprised at how steady his steps were, thought his injuries might not be as serious as they seemed. She quickly followed, leading the way.

“Sorry, ma’am, you can’t enter the emergency room,” the female doctor stopped Chen Yuanyuan at the door.

“Xiaofan, I’ll wait for you outside,” Chen Yuanyuan whispered, then kissed Zhang Xiaofan gently on the cheek in front of the doctor. “Behave yourself, alright? No flirting with the doctor.”

Zhang Xiaofan chuckled awkwardly. “You know me too well, don’t you?”

The female doctor maintained a neutral expression but wondered what kind of man could make such a beautiful woman act like this.

“Come in,” she said, opening the emergency room door and urging Zhang Xiaofan inside.

Zhang Xiaofan smiled, patted Chen Yuanyuan’s head reassuringly, then stepped inside.

“Lie down. You’re so arrogant; I guess you don’t want me to help you?” the female doctor said coolly.

“Why am I arrogant?” Zhang Xiaofan looked puzzled.

“If it wasn’t arrogance, then what is it? You’re injured like this and still walking around on your own,” she retorted.

“Fine, if you say it’s arrogance, so be it. But I’m having some trouble moving now. You better help me,” Zhang Xiaofan said.

Without replying, the female doctor stepped forward, took his arm, and gently helped him onto the emergency bed.

She seemed reluctant to chat, and once he was lying down, she carefully snipped the bandages off his clothes.

When she saw the long, deep cut, surprise flashed in her eyes. His injuries were worse than she had imagined. How could he have walked here like this? Was he made of iron? Didn’t it hurt?

As the bandages came off, blood started to seep out again, and the doctor snapped to attention, quickly preparing alcohol swabs to disinfect the wound.

“This will sting a bit; bear with it,” she warned from a medical standpoint.

“Do you think I haven’t frowned once despite this injury? Am I afraid of the sting?” Zhang Xiaofan said softly.

“Alright, alright, you’re tough,” the doctor said, clearly annoyed.

She proceeded with the disinfection, using nearly half a bucket of swabs to clean the extensive wound before moving on to stop the bleeding.

“I’m going to give you anesthesia now. We need to stitch the wound,” the doctor said.

“No need. Just stitch it directly,” Zhang Xiaofan replied.

“Are you sure?” the doctor frowned.

“Absolutely,” he said.

“Fine, but don’t complain if it hurts,” she said, mock-scolding as she picked up the needle and began stitching.

The entire process went exactly as the doctor feared—he didn’t even flinch. What kind of freak was he?

When she finished, she cleaned the blood around the wound and wrapped it with several layers of gauze.

Sweat was now beading on her forehead.

“Your hand shook a bit during the stitching. If this had been a vital area, your mistake could have been fatal,” Zhang Xiaofan said calmly.

The doctor was startled. Indeed, her hand had trembled slightly but only very subtly and she had quickly recovered. How could he tell this just by lying there?

“Don’t look so surprised. From every stitch you made, I could tell the force and precision of each one,” Zhang Xiaofan explained.

“Yeah, right. You think you’re so amazing?” she said, clearly skeptical.

“Believe it or not, up to you. Just a heads-up: even small mistakes like these aren’t allowed in major surgeries. One slip from you could be deadly for the patient,” he said.

“I don’t have time for your nonsense. Go brag to your little sweetheart. I’m not falling for it,” she snapped.

Then she saw Zhang Xiaofan sit up with a mischievous grin.

“Hey, since I’m a bit handicapped now, how about you help me change out of these bloody clothes? And clean me up, too?” he asked.

“Dream on,” she replied bluntly.

“Hey, you’re a doctor. How can you treat your patient like this?” Zhang Xiaofan protested.

“I think you should get admitted. Let your little darling take care of you. I’m busy,” she said, turning to leave.

“Doctors these days, really unprofessional,” Zhang Xiaofan muttered, then got down from the bed. After some treatment, he felt much better.

“I’d rather have my Yuanyuan take care of me,” he thought, and followed the doctor out.

Just as they stepped into the corridor, two male doctors hurried by, pushing a stretcher. Behind them trailed a middle-aged woman with a worried expression.
