Chapter Eighty-Seven: The Adorable Wind Spirit Source
Almost there... Feeling the power return to his right hand, Fiery Flame was seized by an overwhelming exhilaration. The tournament committee, the martial contest, all of it could go to hell. Just wait until my right hand is fully recovered, and then I’ll show you bastards what happens.
Did that woman notice it too? The terrifying power within Fiery Flame was awakening. It was a force capable of destroying the entire barrier, even the whole arena. Just how much stronger could this man possibly become... Watching the trembling Qing Liu, the masked competitor also sensed the dreadful power stirring inside Fiery Flame. He had never expected that, after Qing Liu’s treatment, Fiery Flame would turn misfortune into blessing: not only was the injury to his right hand healed, but a latent divine force within him had been roused. If that power fully returned, even I might not be able to beat him. Just how strong is this kid going to become...
At that moment, Yuan from the Demon Realm Messenger team had already stepped onto the arena. The instant he appeared, the monsters in the stands erupted into cheers.
“Yuan is out there! The Demon Realm Messenger team wins!”
“Yuan is the strongest! Kill Qin Xiaochuan!”
“We support you, Yuan!”
“Kill Qin Xiaochuan!”
“Kill him!”
“Kill him!”
“Kill him!”
“Kill him!”
...
Hearing the roars from the audience, Yuan stuck out his little tongue.
“So noisy. What are these people yelling about? They’re making my ears itch. Honestly...”
As she spoke, Yuan hooked a little finger into her ear, looking lightly annoyed in a way that only made her seem more adorable. It was hard to believe such a charming creature was so beloved by the monsters, and yet with that innocent face, she gave no hint of any terrifying lethality.
After glancing at Qin Xiaochuan, Yuan flicked her pointed little ear and leaned close to him.
“Let me tell you something else. Seeing you beat up that Hidden Mist guy like that made me so happy. To be honest, I’ve wanted to smack him for ages. I never expected you to take care of him so neatly. Heehee. That was wonderful. Thank you so much, heehee!”
...
Seeing how sweet and guileless Yuan looked, Qin Xiaochuan felt a little embarrassed too. He scratched his chin and said awkwardly, “I never expected you to say something so wild. I was planning to use my anger to knock you flat, but now I don’t really feel like it anymore, haha. Honestly...”
“That guy is that guy, and I am me. There’s no comparison, heehee. Watch carefully! Wind!”
In an instant, a powerful current of air surged around Yuan’s body and shot into the sky. The fierce wind made Qin Xiaochuan and Ruoxi unable to keep their eyes open.
“Yes! The wind is picking up!”
“Yuan is floating again. That’s amazing!”
Barely managing to open her eyes, Miss Ruoxi braced herself against the gale and called out to the audience.
“Right now it feels as if I’m standing in the eye of a storm. My eyes are being blown so painfully. The wind Yuan controls is unbelievably strong. I... I’m going to be blown away... the match begins... AAAAAH!”
The moment she announced the start of the match, Miss Ruoxi was blown far away by the fierce wind swirling around Yuan, and no one knew where she had ended up.
“All right, forget anger or no anger. Let’s just begin, heehee. Rather than stay mad, it’s much more practical to have a proper fight!”
As if he had let go of his irritation, Qin Xiaochuan finally grew excited at meeting such a cute yet powerful opponent. Perhaps fighting was when he felt happiest. Just as he had when meeting Zhou, sensing the immense power within Yuan, Qin Xiaochuan rushed forward with excitement and swung a punch at her face. He wanted to fight Yuan with all his heart.
Seeing Qin Xiaochuan charge in, Yuan lifted her head and shot upward, riding the wind. Borrowing the gale’s force, she soared over the arena and in Qin Xiaochuan’s eyes quickly became only a tiny dot. Her speed was astonishing. Once in midair, Yuan looked out toward the distant sea and stretched with delight.
“What lovely weather!”
Then she took a deep breath of the fresh air around her.
After having her fun, Yuan dived headfirst back toward Qin Xiaochuan. Seeing him draw nearer and nearer, Yuan shifted the wind around her body sideways, swept around him in a circle, and then drove a punch straight into his face.
“That hurts!”
After climbing up from the ground, Qin Xiaochuan rubbed his slightly swollen right cheek. This girl was truly something. She had not only dodged his punch but struck him back as well. Impressive. Not only was she fast and nimble, her fist carried plenty of force too. I never expected you to be this strong. This is making me so excited, heehee.
Looking at Yuan, Qin Xiaochuan’s eyes lit up with exhilaration.
Seeing Qin Xiaochuan rise from the ground, Yuan suddenly began spinning her right arm, faster and faster. As her arm accelerated, a small whirlwind gradually formed around it. It seemed Yuan was compressing the wind around her right arm, shaping it into a ring of miniature storm. This would not only protect her arm, but when she attacked, it would unleash destruction like a whirlpool.
“Incredible! Competitor Yuan has formed a small tornado around her right arm! That’s simply marvelous!”
Looking at the tornado around Yuan’s arm, Miss Ruoxi could not help exclaiming in admiration.
Shouting at Qin Xiaochuan, Yuan cried, “I’m coming! Behold my invincible whirlwind fist!”
With that, she swung her right fist and flew at him.
Seeing Yuan coming straight at him, Qin Xiaochuan sprang backward, trying to evade the blow. But he was a little too slow, and the storm around Yuan’s right arm brushed him ever so slightly. Yet that slight touch sent Qin Xiaochuan flying backward. He had not expected the tiny tornado to be so powerful. His out-of-control body smashed toward the nearby stands.
While soaring from the impact, Qin Xiaochuan hurriedly adjusted his balance in midair and planted both feet against the concrete wall of the audience section, preparing to rebound back onto the ring. But just as he was about to leap back, he turned and saw that Yuan had already caught up. Her right fist, wreathed in a whirlwind, was already swinging toward him. A powerful blast of wind struck his face, and sensing the danger before him, Qin Xiaochuan drove down with both legs and launched himself in another direction.
As expected of the whirlwind fist, the wind around Yuan’s right arm turned into a mighty cone-shaped tornado, smashing through the first-tier stands and destroying a large section of the audience area. Many unlucky spectators were blown away by the force of that tornado, and no one knew where they had been sent. Truly, those people were innocent victims, swept away so casually by Yuan. What terrible luck.
“Good reflexes!”
Seeing Qin Xiaochuan leap back into the arena, Yuan turned her head and returned to the ring as well.
“You reacted so fast just now, dodging my attack. Heehee, again, again.”
Once more Yuan began spinning her right arm, clearly intending to unleash that invincible whirlwind fist again.
Seeing that Yuan was about to use the whirlwind fist again, Qin Xiaochuan hurriedly charged in. He could not let her use that move again. If he took another hit, his body would be blown apart. Glancing at the area destroyed by Yuan’s whirlwind fist, he saw several unlucky spectators sprawled in a huge crater, groaning miserably.
Reaching Yuan’s side, Qin Xiaochuan unleashed both fists in rapid succession. After nearly two months of death training under Master Jinghai, his punching speed was almost like bullets, forcing Yuan to immediately abandon the preparation of her right fist and raise both hands before her to block Qin Xiaochuan’s assault.
“They’re so fast my eyes can barely keep up. The fists of Competitor Qin Xiaochuan and Competitor Yuan have vanished from sight. All I can hear are the cracking sounds between them. What kind of speed is this!”
Qin Xiaochuan has the edge in speed by a little, Fiery Flame judged quickly as he watched the two fighters on the stage. But Yuan still has the wind; she won’t be easy to deal with.
“Aaaaaah!”
Just as Fiery Flame had said, under Qin Xiaochuan’s bulletlike punches, Yuan gradually began to falter. The moment she grew a little flustered, Qin Xiaochuan’s right fist broke through her defense and slammed into her stomach.
“Now’s my chance!”
Having landed a hit, Qin Xiaochuan threw another punch at Yuan, but the startled girl used the wind around her body to lift herself and shot into the air. Sitting high above the ground, Yuan stuck out her little tongue and clutched her stomach, crying out in pain.
“Damn it, that really hurts. Qin Xiaochuan’s fists are so hard. No wonder that useless Hidden Mist guy turned into a pig with one punch. So that’s how heavy his blows are. If I take a few more hits, I’m done for. Oww, it really hurts...”
“Competitor Yuan has taken to the sky, but according to the tournament rules, the count only begins when a body touches the ground outside the arena. Since Competitor Yuan’s body has not touched the ground outside, the match continues!”
Hearing the voice from below, Yuan did not pay it much attention. While resting in midair, however, she suddenly noticed a ball of light flying straight toward her.
“Ow! Competitor Qin Xiaochuan has fired his signature Spirit Sphere. Will the airborne Yuan be struck by it?”
At the voice from below, Yuan had no time to think. She hastily summoned a wall of wind around her body to protect herself. The wind barrier around her blocked the incoming sphere of light, and the force around her body deflected it off course. It shot up into the sky, and Qin Xiaochuan’s second Spirit Sphere went wide.
