Chapter Eighty-One: Divine Sense Transmission
Although Yu Chenling had a head of snow-white hair, there was not a single wrinkle on his face, and his complexion was full of color. In matters of upkeep, he looked even better than most women.
He was not particularly tall, only around five and a half feet, and at first glance he seemed rather ordinary. But anyone who knew him understood that this fellow was absolutely a human beast in the shape of a man.
Yu Chenling’s white brows drew together deeply as he looked at Yu Shifei, who was in the midst of enlightenment, and for a moment his mind seemed to freeze.
From far away, he had already heard the commotion here. The thunderous crashes sounded as though people were fighting in the area. He had thought some formidable enemy had invaded, and fearing for his daughter’s safety, he hurried over at once.
Yet when he arrived, the scene before him was nothing like what he had imagined. His daughter was merely holding a giant arrow, and it looked as though she were in the throes of enlightenment.
But that raised the question: where had those earth-shaking sounds from before come from? Yu Chenling’s gaze swept sideways, and he suddenly spotted an acquaintance beside him. At once he asked, “Young man Chen, what is going on here?”
Yes, the one he was speaking to was Chen Bo. Before Chen Bo could answer, a group of senior disciples shot Yu Chenling a glare. One of them lowered his voice and barked, “Old man, do not disturb the mentor’s enlightenment!”
He spoke with excessive refinement, much like Bai Ge. Unlike Bai Ge, however, this fellow did not seem to know the meaning of respecting the old and caring for the young. Still, Chen Bo had to give him credit. This brother was truly something else, actually daring to call the dean an old man!
Chen Bo suddenly remembered the genius from Dingjia Town whom Yu Chenling had flicked once, sending him flying hundreds of yards into the lake when they first arrived at Heaven Sun Academy. Would this senior brother also be slapped flying?
Who would have thought that the dean, this old man, did not fly into a rage at all. Instead, he became as obedient as a student punished by a teacher and fell silent. Chen Bo was utterly stunned by the sight. Could this guy not be the dean after all, but merely someone who looked like him?
In truth, it was not strange that Chen Bo would think that way. Ever since Yu Chenling had tricked him out of a pile of little treasures, he had not held the dean in any high regard. Damn it, to think he had been robbed by this man. If he had not been no match for him, he would have rolled up his sleeves and gone at him long ago.
But after some thought, Chen Bo understood why the man had gone silent so quickly. Because the one currently in enlightenment was his daughter. If he, as her father, interrupted her enlightenment at this moment, it would be a truly wonderful disaster.
“Hey! Young man Chen, what exactly is going on here?” Yu Chenling’s voice rang out again.
Chen Bo almost laughed. Had this old fellow been courting death too many times? Did he not fear interrupting Yu Shifei’s enlightenment?
Yet when Chen Bo turned his head, he did not see Yu Chenling’s lips moving at all, while the old man’s voice continued to sound by his ear. “Oh, I nearly forgot. You brat do not know how to use spiritual sense transmission.”
As soon as the words fell, Chen Bo only felt a surge of elemental power suddenly being poured into his body.
“Young man Chen, you can already control your spiritual sense and speak with it. Now tell me what on earth is going on.”
Spiritual sense transmission! Only then did Chen Bo understand. It was a secret art of the Wilderness Continent, one known by almost every Innate expert. By using spiritual sense, one could converse with people nearby without anyone else hearing.
With Yu Chenling helping him by infusing elemental power, Chen Bo also tried speaking with his spiritual sense. “Hello, hello, Moscow, how do you do, can you hear me? Hey, hey!”
This was Chen Bo’s first time using spiritual sense transmission, and he was full of curiosity.
Yu Chenling was taken aback, dark lines almost sliding down his forehead as he said rather speechlessly, “If you keep spouting nonsense, I will punish you by making you contribute again to the academy’s charitable cause.”
At that, Chen Bo immediately lost all interest in fooling around. This old man was far too petty. It was only a little curiosity; did he really need to threaten him like that? Did he not know that the poor fellow had already become a pauper? Wait just a moment.
“Damn it, a few days ago I even placed a wager with several spirit stones riding on myself to win! Where are my spirit stones?” Chen Bo said at once.
“Hm? Spirit stones?” Yu Chenling wore a blank expression. After living for several hundred years, one could not survive without a somewhat thicker skin. He straightened his face and said, “I am doing this for your own good! You students, each and every one of you, carry so much wealth on you. Are you here to cultivate or to amuse yourselves?”
“I am merely keeping your valuables safe for you! Once you graduate, of course I will return them to you!”
Could this old man be trusted? Chen Bo sneered. Though they had known each other only a short time and had met merely a few times, he had already figured out this fellow’s character. One word: greedy. Two words: utterly shameless.
However, the old man’s next words left him speechless.
“That thing you gave my daughter has turned this place into such a state, and I, an old man, have not even asked you for compensation.”
“Damn it! How do you know that?” Chen Bo was stunned. Did this fellow have eyes that could see a thousand miles, or ears that could hear on the wind? Or could he read minds? But Yu Chenling’s answer only made him even more exasperated.
“I can smell your scent on that thing.”
Damn it, are you some kind of dog? Did the Heavenly Hound descend to earth? Erlang God, your dog has come out to play; hurry and take him back home!
“But I also helped your daughter attain enlightenment! How do we settle that account?” Chen Bo protested unwillingly.
“My daughter is my daughter. I am me!”
Very well, that answer was formidable indeed. That was truly the dean. Chen Bo was left reeling in the wind.
Having been defeated, Chen Bo had no choice but to explain everything bit by bit. He did not notice that the more Yu Chenling listened, the brighter his eyes became.
“You mean you saw a spear in an ancient book? And you even know its origin? You even know things from the ancient era?” Yu Chenling exclaimed in shock.
After scrutinizing Chen Bo for several seconds, he suddenly said again, “I do not believe it! You brat are so young, and yet you have already learned how to deceive an old man!”
“Believe it or not,” Chen Bo said, rolling his eyes. He could not be bothered to talk to him. He had discovered that speaking with anyone surnamed Yu was exhausting; it always felt as though he were being toyed with.
“And what was the name of that ancient book?”
“It was called—”
Just as Chen Bo was about to string him along a little, a violent wave of air suddenly surged over, forcing him back several steps. He nearly crashed into the tree behind him.
Yu Shifei had awakened from her state of enlightenment, and the aura around her had changed beyond recognition.
Before, Yu Shifei might at most have given the impression that she had a formidable presence. But now, even from far away, Chen Bo could feel the overwhelming, battlefield-like killing intent on her body.
Such an aura was enough to make one tremble. If there had been anyone with heart disease present when they saw Yu Shifei, they might well have been frightened to death in no time at all.
Ugh, what a blocked chapter. So blocked. This is what happens when there is no detailed outline. If I write the next book, Little Bei absolutely will not start with only a rough outline. I would rather spend half a month getting the outline and detailed outline sorted properly before putting pen to paper. That way, the chance of getting stuck would be reduced by who knows how many times.
Two chapters today, four tomorrow! Starting tomorrow, the update time will be a little after eleven at night. Eleven p.m.!
Also, this book has finally gotten a recommendation slot notice. Although it is only a tiny blessing, for Little Bei this is practically the editor’s great love for me! You have to know that recommendation slots in fantasy are fiercely contested. For me to get even one is definitely the result of having my fortune handed down from eight lifetimes of good luck.
