Chapter Seventy-Five: Refining Artifacts with Divine Sense
When he saw a netizen asking for a forging furnace, Chen Bo almost spat blood. You want one? Hell, I want one too! Never mind anything else, just the ability to change size alone makes it a solid and dependable shield.
Yu Shifei completely ignored Chen Bo’s burning gaze and said, “Go fetch some materials and forge a weapon for me. Let me see how good your smithing skills really are.”
“Oh!” Chen Bo responded and went to collect the materials. The forging room was filled with precious materials for weapon crafting, and since he didn’t have to pay for any of it, he naturally chose the most valuable ones he could find.
Seeing Chen Bo return with a heap of rare materials, Yu Shifei rolled her eyes yet again and said helplessly, “Tell me, do you even know how to forge? Melting down these materials would take five or six days at least. Do you have that much time? Because I certainly don’t!”
Now it was awkward. Chen Bo had no choice but to go fetch some more common materials. Even so, these were far superior to the ones in the Chen family’s smithy.
Chen Bo stared in a daze at the enormous furnace, shaped like a giant cauldron, feeling completely at a loss. It seemed like all he knew was swinging a big hammer! How was this supposed to work? Was he just supposed to toss things in and the furnace would handle the rest? Damn, that would be advanced!
But reality proved him wrong. Yu Shifei cast him a sidelong glance and said, “Sit cross-legged, focus your energy, and channel your essence, spirit, and mind into the furnace. I’ll assist you from here.”
“Be careful. Don’t let your mind wander. If the furnace explodes, you won’t be able to pay for the damages even if I sold you! And if you get yourself killed in the blast, you’ll have only yourself to blame.”
Her words were sharp, but Chen Bo obediently did as he was told. He sat cross-legged by the furnace, hands resting on his knees, focusing all his energy and attention on the task.
After a while, nothing seemed to be happening. Just as Chen Bo was about to ask Yu Shifei a question, his mind suddenly went blank. When he came to, he realized he had transformed into a chaotic state, like a wisp of smoke.
What the hell was going on? Though startled, Chen Bo didn’t dare panic. He remembered Yu Shifei’s warning—if the furnace exploded, he’d be dead for sure.
Just then, Yu Shifei’s voice rang out. “What you’re seeing now is your own spiritual consciousness. Right now, you’re inside the furnace. Of course, your physical body is still outside.”
Now that she’d said it, Chen Bo realized the place was filled with fire—the surrounding flames were a vivid crimson, elemental fire everywhere! Yet none of it could touch him, as if he didn’t exist at all. It was wondrous.
“If you want to forge a weapon, you only need to control everything with your mind. Think of the materials you want—they’ll appear. If you want a big hammer, just imagine it, and it will materialize.”
No way, was it really that amazing?
Chen Bo was skeptical, but he tried to summon a piece of metal. Suddenly, a chunk of metal appeared before him! Meanwhile, in reality, the pile of materials he’d gathered was mysteriously missing a piece.
“Huh? This kid’s gotten really good at moving objects with his mind! Looks like his soul is much stronger than average,” Yu Shifei muttered in surprise. She hadn’t expected Chen Bo to have any redeeming qualities.
What she didn’t know was that Chen Bo’s soul had crossed over from another world, devouring the original Chen Bo’s soul in the process. His own spiritual strength was now twice that of a normal person.
Meanwhile, in the streaming chat, the single-perspective view suddenly split into two windows! It was like watching two TVs at once: on the left was the scene inside the furnace, on the right was what was happening in reality.
“Damn, what’s going on? Did my computer get a virus? This looks awesome!”
“Now I get it—this is how the elites forge their weapons. No wonder the two goddesses have such flawless skin.”
“I just realized how low-level the streamer used to be at forging! This is what you call high class! Doesn’t even need to lift a finger!”
“Congratulations to the streamer for leveling up from a newbie to a pro. Let’s give them a round of applause! Throw some flowers!”
“So relaxing! Tipping the streamer 6666 coins. The company’s revenue just broke last year’s record—everyone hurry up and tip the streamer!”
“Hey, did anyone notice how our Boss Fei has one hand hovering above the streamer’s head? Is she planning to take him out while he’s distracted?”
Sure enough, Yu Shifei was holding her jade-like hand a foot above Chen Bo’s head. Someone noticed that a steady stream of pure elemental energy was flowing from her hand into Chen Bo’s body.
Anyone untrained would be baffled, but in truth, Chen Bo’s current abilities were too weak; he hadn’t reached the innate level yet and couldn’t use spiritual forging on his own—he needed help from an innate expert. That expert was Yu Shifei.
In the end, it all came down to Chen Bo’s lack of strength.
“Damn, that foxy woman isn’t planning to harm my idol, is she? I knew she was no good! The streamer’s done for this time.”
“You idiot, if Boss Fei wanted to kill the streamer, would she wait until now? Just watch the stream and stop spouting nonsense.”
“Exactly, how could our Boss Fei ever hurt the streamer? It’s obvious she’s helping him forge.”
“How do you know that? Tell the truth—are you a transmigrator?”
“Pfft, brother, you’ve already grilled dozens of people asking if they’re transmigrators. Aren’t you tired?”
“Oh? Now I’m starting to suspect you’re a transmigrator too! Come clean—are you or aren’t you?”
The commotion in the stream was something Chen Bo was oblivious to now. He was completely immersed in the forging furnace. By this point, he had already added several different metals, and when the time was right, he summoned a massive hammer with a thought.
Chen Bo controlled the hammer, pounding away with heavy blows. To an outsider, it looked like he was just smashing wildly, the cacophony of “clang, clang, clang” noisy and chaotic.
But only an expert could perceive the mastery within. Amidst the seemingly random clamor, Yu Shifei detected a hidden rhythm—a rhythm unique to Chen Bo.
His forging technique was unlike anything she had ever seen or heard of. The speed with which he struck was astonishing, and his recovery even quicker!
“This little thief really does have some skill,” Yu Shifei thought to herself, secretly amazed. She had seen countless forging techniques since childhood, but Chen Bo’s method was the first to truly baffle her.
Either this was a long-lost smithing art, or the little thief had simply invented it himself.
Yu Shifei was leaning toward the latter. And in fact, she was right.
Recently, the site has been acting up, and today I found out this chapter was missing over a thousand words. I’ve restored it now, though it was rather frustrating…
