Chapter 135: Withered Chrysanthemums
"Seeking death! A pack of mere ants daring to act so presumptuously before me, you truly have a death wish!"
The mad monk's mouth stretched almost to his earlobes, and coupled with his fierce, scarred face, he looked extremely sinister and terrifying. If he only had a few open wounds, he would be indistinguishable from a zombie in a resident evil film.
Glaring like a wrathful vajra at the hundred-odd bandits charging toward him, he swept his giant hammer horizontally. The bandits at the very front were not even hit directly by the hammer, but were blasted away by the primordial energy clinging to its surface.
They exploded directly in mid-air into a pile of shattered flesh and broken bones. Crimson chunks of meat and bone shards fell from the sky like a shower of blood, adding a touch of brutality to the battle.
Yet, this gruesome spectacle did not frighten the attacking bandits. Having served as outlaws for so long, they had seen plenty of dead people; some had even witnessed deaths far more miserable than this.
Therefore, the bandits turned into minced meat failed to stir any ripples in the hearts of the others; instead, the bloodlust in their eyes grew even more intense.
"Hahaha! Come! More! I'm going to slaughter every single one of you!" The mad monk bludgeoned a few more bandits to death, laughing wildly like a demon possessed.
His entire body was stained red—completely dyed by the blood of his enemies. He looked like an Asura crawled straight up from the depths of hell.
*Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!*
Sharp sounds of breaking air echoed. Stealing a glance toward the source of the noise, the mad monk saw a barrage of pitch-black arrows hurtling directly toward him.
"Ha! Vajra Protective Qi!" the mad monk roared. The primordial energy within his body instantly flooded his entire frame. The sharp, tri-faceted arrowheads slammed into the mad monk's body, leaving not even the slightest trace of a mark!
However, the mad monk's expression shifted the next moment when he realized that only two or three arrows were flying at him, while all the rest were shooting straight toward his subordinates.
Like master, like subordinate. The bandits on the mad monk's side had been watching their leader display divine might, and none of them had been paying attention to the sky.
Consequently, tragedy struck. Dozens of arrows plunged down like shooting stars, fiercely piercing into the flesh and blood of these bandits.
"Ah, ah, ah!"
"Damn it, where did so many arrows come from?"
"Ah, ah! My arm! My arm is crippled! My arm is totally ruined!"
"Not good! The arrowheads are poisoned!"
"Bastards, I can't feel an ounce of strength left in my body!"
"Brothers! Those scumbags from the Li and Guo families actually dare to ambush us! Charge! Hack them to pieces!"
"Charge!"
"Kill! Kill! Kill!"
A chorus of agonizing wails was instantly followed by earth-shattering battle cries. This surprise ambush had cost them over forty brothers in a single blow.
Even so, they still numbered over two hundred. Although more than forty had lost their combat effectiveness, their side still held a massive numerical advantage.
Yet right after, another wave of arrows shot up into the sky, transforming into countless black meteors that rained down upon them.
Although the mad monk's men were on guard this time, they lacked shields and could only frantically swing their weapons, hoping to deflect the incoming arrows.
They had forgotten, however, that the arrows were laced with poison. Not only were the tips venomous, but even the shafts dripped with virulent toxins!
A broadsword sliced an incoming arrow in half, but a stray splinter of flying wood accidentally nicked the back of the wielder's hand, leaving a tiny scratch so minor it seemed completely negligible.
Yet within seconds, the poison took effect. The man's limbs went entirely limp as if all his strength had been instantly drained, and he collapsed to the ground, utterly powerless, even dropping his saber.
Quite a few met the same miserable fate as this bandit. Dozens more lost their ability to fight, leaving the numbers of the two opposing forces evenly matched.
By now, the bandits on the mad monk's side had charged to the frontlines—one faction belonging to the mad monk, and the other to the allied forces of Chief Li and Chief Guo.
The two sides collided like a torrent of water, and instantly, countless severed limbs flew into the air. Screams and battle cries echoed far into the distance; anyone of even slightly timid disposition would have had their legs turn to jelly, unable to take another step.
"Little ones! Follow me and slaughter these shameless ambushers!" Primordial energy surged around the mad monk. With every single move and technique, he claimed the lives of four or five enemies; not a single one could withstand even a single blow from him.
Seeing their leader perform with such unstoppable fury, the mad monk's subordinate bandits hacked away at their foes with even greater zeal.
"Take this, you bald donkey!" At that moment, Chief Guo suddenly let out a fierce roar, leaping into the air with his saber raised to slash at the mad monk's neck. After all, the mad monk was simply too tall; without jumping, it was impossible to reach him.
"Hmph? Seeking death!" The mad monk sneered, swinging his giant hammer to smash Chief Guo into a bloody pulp.
Before his attack could connect, however, a rope suddenly snaked around Chief Guo's waist, yanking him backward just in time, causing the mad monk's blow to strike empty air.
"Not good!" The mad monk sensed something was amiss, but it was already too late.
Chief Li had somehow slipped behind him, holding a long sword. With a sinister grin, Chief Li thrust the blade viciously toward the mad monk's rear!
*Chrysanthemums wither, injuries cover the ground, your smile has already turned yellow...* For some inexplicable reason, Chen Bo in the distance suddenly recalled these lyrics. This bandit surnamed Li was truly sinister as hell!
Yet it seemed the mad monk's rear had undergone specialized training; Chen Bo watched as the long sword penetrated merely ten centimeters before being gripped so tightly that it could advance not a fraction of an inch further.
Somehow, Chen Bo's imagination conjured up a vivid image of a gay man exploring the mad monk from behind.
The outcome would undoubtedly be tragic—the poor fellow's manhood snapped clean off by the sheer muscular tension of the mad monk. *Holy shit, the imagery is too gorgeous to bear watching.*
Chen Bo had completely forgotten what fleeing even meant. Since he had managed to witness such a grand spectacle, he simply had to observe it properly! What a pity the system was still upgrading and the live broadcast room couldn't be opened; otherwise, he could have really opened the eyes of those guys who were always slandering him.
"Aaaaaahhhhhh!!!"
An earth-shattering, ghost-wailing shriek burst from the mad monk's lips. Chief Li's sword stroke had struck right at the mad monk's fatal weakness.
"Go to hell! I want all of you to die!" The mad monk roared in fury, using his primordial energy to force the embedded sword straight out of his backside. A massive palm lashed out backward with lightning speed.
Caught off guard while reveling in the excitement of successfully wounding the mad monk, Chief Li was completely dumbfounded as that enormous, fleshy palm smashed squarely into his chest.
*Plop!* Chief Li's chest instantly caved inward, and he was sent hurtling backward through the air, snapping an untold number of large trees along the way.
"Cough, cough, cough..." Chief Li coughed violently, even spitting out fragments of his internal organs. Yet he possessed a stubborn vitality and did not die on the spot; he was merely rendered temporarily incapacitated.
