Chapter 102: Hello Kitty?
Chen Bo’s heart tightened with unease, his palms growing clammy—clearly, he was deeply anxious.
Suddenly, another stone tumbled down from above, landing about a meter in front of him. Instead of stopping, it kept rolling forward, until it collided with a skull; only then did it come to a halt.
What happened next was utterly terrifying. The skull struck by the stone moved! Not just that one—every single skeleton around him began to stir!
A harsh, grating sound of bones scraping against each other pierced the air as the skeletons rose one after another. Their hollow eye sockets stared blankly at Chen Bo, presenting an eerie, chilling sight.
Chen Bo was at a loss for words. He wished this were all a nightmare. But the dull ache in his body told him otherwise—this was all terrifyingly real! Could it be that ghosts truly existed on this wilderness continent?
For a moment, he was bewildered. Even after assimilating the original Chen Bo’s memories, he had never encountered anything supernatural like this in the world—perhaps his perspective had been limited.
But a question immediately arose: was this some trick by a wandering necromancer who had taken a wrong turn onto the set? This was the Eastern world, after all! Why were these Western skeletal monsters causing havoc here?
Of course, even if Chen Bo shouted this out loud, the countless skeletons before him surely didn’t understand a word.
“Am I seeing things wrong? What on earth is going on? Is this some kind of necromancer’s doing?” Chen Bo swallowed nervously and spoke into his livestream.
“Streamer, I swear this must be a Western necromancer who wandered into the wrong realm! In the East, it’s usually zombies or ghosts, hardly any skeletons,” one viewer replied.
“I think the continent you’re on must be a blend of East and West! Yes, exactly that! I’m truly a seeker of truth! Hahaha!” another chimed in.
“This just doesn’t make sense! How can the dead come back to life—and so vigorously, attacking the streamer!”
“Why do I find these skeletons kind of cute? Especially the way they walk—it’s hilarious!”
“That just shows your taste is way off, upstairs! Exactly!”
“The streamer is like the legendary fortress—one man holding the pass against a thousand! So powerful, I love it!”
“Caught a fangirl! Don’t you all worry about the streamer’s safety?”
“Don’t worry! The streamer has the protagonist’s aura. No matter what happens, he’ll be fine! Exactly!”
As all the skeletons fixed their gaze on him, Chen Bo knew the battle was about to erupt. Though they lacked eyes and expressions, in their empty sockets, he sensed a glimmer of greed—they saw him as a delicious meal!
He couldn’t tell which skeleton took the first step, but soon, a horde of pale bones surged toward him. Their pace was slow and staggered, barely steadier than a toddler learning to walk. Chen Bo half-wondered if they’d crumble apart after a few steps.
Yet, his worry was needless. Despite their clumsy gait, they held their battered weapons firmly and charged at him.
“Damn it! Don’t think I won’t fight back!” Chen Bo dodged a severely damaged hand-axe and swept his sword horizontally. A flash of silver sliced through the dim dungeon, cutting down four skeletons at once without resistance.
“Huh? Such weak defense?!” Chen Bo was surprised but had no time to dwell; more attacks came rushing in. Though the skeletons’ weapons were dilapidated, a hit meant injury and bloodshed, so he couldn’t afford to be careless.
Especially when facing so many enemies alone. No matter how strong you are, a multitude of ants can bring down an elephant. One slip could be fatal.
Chen Bo leapt up, delivering several flying kicks that sent skeletons sprawling, buying him precious moments.
He placed a glow stick at the base of the wall, sheathed his sword, and pulled out a Gatling gun from his system inventory—though it was out of ammo, it was still a formidable weapon.
Chen Bo hefted the Gatling’s muzzle and slammed it down hard on the advancing skeletons. Bones shattered into fragments beneath the blow.
The dark Gatling felt like a massive hammer in his hands—longer and thicker than any hammer, its toughness yet to be determined.
Swinging it again, Chen Bo sent several skeletons flying seven or eight meters backward, smashing countless others in the process. Yet these skeletal fiends seemed utterly fearless, relentlessly surging forward.
“Damn it! First form of the Ninefold Slaughter Fist!” Chen Bo roared impatiently, unleashing a powerful technique.
His strength doubled instantly, making the Gatling feel lighter and more precise in his hands. He quickly cleared a sizable area.
At that moment, Chen Bo retrieved another glow stick from his system, turned it on, and threw it with all his might. He wanted to see how many skeletons remained—were they truly endless?
The glow stick flew far, and as Chen Bo leapt to glance, relief washed over him. He had feared an endless horde, replenishing as he killed. But the numbers were limited—at most two or three thousand.
Two or three thousand—still a lot, but not infinite.
This kind of prolonged skirmish was unsustainable. Sooner or later, he would be exhausted—nothing more than a slab of meat on a chopping block, or rather, a feast for skeletons.
Just imagining a pack of skeletons swarming a weary, weakened him, tearing flesh bit by bit, sent chills down his spine.
No, this couldn’t continue; he had to devise a plan. Otherwise, death was inevitable.
