Chapter Ninety: Armed with Confidence
Chen Bo didn’t want to say much more; these veterans were almost leading him astray, but fortunately, his heart remained pure—truly pure!
The jolting on horseback was extremely uncomfortable, like someone was slowly pounding his body with fists—not painful, but after a while, quite unbearable.
His mouth was stuffed with a piece of burlap, rendering him unable to speak; all he could do was silently endure.
He controlled the camera, slowly turning the lens toward the person who had kidnapped him, hoping to see who this scoundrel really was.
Unfortunately, reality was disappointing. The man wore a bamboo hat, and a layer of gauze covered his face, making him look exactly like one of those mysterious heroes from a 1910s martial arts drama—overly theatrical.
Using the camera, Chen Bo scanned the surroundings and realized they had already left the city! It must have been just moments ago. Not far away, he could still see a city wall, with the three characters “Tianyang City” clearly visible.
He wondered what the city guards were even doing—how could such a large target as himself go unnoticed? They were utterly incompetent. If it were soldiers on Earth, they wouldn’t have let him pass without a military dog sniffing him out.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when suddenly he felt himself thrown through the air. The burlap sack was cut open by sharp stones, and Chen Bo finally saw daylight again.
The gag was removed from his mouth, and he spat several times—the taste was truly unbearable.
“Who are you? Why did you bring me here? Or is someone else behind this?” Chen Bo asked coldly, staring at the tall and mysterious man before him.
The man swiftly removed his bamboo hat, revealing a face so handsome it seemed almost friendless in its perfection. But Chen Bo had no interest in his looks and continued, “I don’t know you! It seems you’ve been sent by someone else to kill me.”
“Heh! You’re the calmest person I’ve met in the past ten years,” Maji said, clapping his hands.
“Thanks for the compliment!” Chen Bo replied.
“Uh,” Maji was momentarily caught off guard—he hadn’t meant that as a compliment. “What a shameless guy. No wonder you dare to shamelessly stay by Shifei’s side.”
“Shifei? Yu Shifei?!” Chen Bo was stunned. What did this have to do with Yu Shifei? Could it be that she wanted to harm him? But thinking back, she had many chances to kill him before and never acted on them, which meant Yu Shifei did not wish him harm.
As for taking his spear earlier, that was only a punishment for spying on her while she bathed.
Could this assassin be trying to make him believe Yu Shifei wanted him dead? Then who had sent him? In a single second, Chen Bo’s mind raced with questions.
“Was it Guo Liu who sent you?” Chen Bo asked instinctively.
“Guo Liu?” Maji scoffed. “That brat wants to command me? Maybe when he becomes the city lord, I’ll consider doing something for him.”
Not Guo Liu? Chen Bo carefully scrutinized the middle-aged man before him and noticed that his facial features bore a slight resemblance to Guo Liu.
“Are you related to Guo Liu?”
“Well, you caught that, huh? Maybe you’re not as useless as the rumors say!” Maji said. “That’s right, I’m Guo Liu’s uncle—Maji, the eldest son of the Maji family in Tianyang City!”
“Maji?! Ha! Ha ha ha! You actually go by that name? That’s even weirder than mine! Haha!” Chen Bo couldn’t help but burst into laughter until his stomach hurt. He was a cheerful soul with a low threshold for humor.
Maji’s expression darkened. Coldly, he said, “Kid, I was going to beat you into a vegetable, but now, I’m going to kill you. Blame it on how close you are to Shifei!”
Hmm? Chen Bo’s expression turned strange—not from fear, but because of Maji’s last sentence. Could this guy be a crazed admirer of Yu Shifei? Damn, was this innocent damage caused by proximity?
Chen Bo admired Maji somewhat—actually liking a woman like Yu Shifei? Could this be the legendary masochist?
Boom!
A muffled sound echoed as Maji raised a long black blade, about three feet in length, its surface pitch black like a demonic sword.
Dark energy covered the entire blade, which was plunged into the ground, leaving no grass alive where it touched.
“Innate!” Chen Bo exclaimed in shock, his gaze heavy. He hadn’t expected this man to be an Innate-level powerhouse! Now things were complicated—he just didn’t know which Innate stage he belonged to.
“Heh heh! That’s right, I’m Innate! Mid-stage of the Sea-Expelling Realm!” Maji said flatly but couldn’t hide the pride in his eyes. “Dying at the hands of an Innate expert like me should be your honor.”
“Tch! I thought you were something special. A mid-stage Sea-Expelling Realm weakling dares to jump around in front of me,” Chen Bo rolled his eyes. This guy had made him so nervous earlier, wasting all his expressions.
“6666, this streamer deserves 6,666 points—more points won’t make the streamer arrogant.”
“Duanmu Xier tipped the streamer 233 gold coins: bubble, self-poke, poke explosion, poke rupture, poke to pregnancy, then go nurture the fetus.”
“Xianwu tipped the streamer 233 gold coins: experience farming, experience farming, experience farming! I heard Yaya’s live stream gives experience just for sending bullet comments. Farming, farming, I’ll keep farming.”
“Wow! So much money!”
“Why does the streamer seem so fearless? Could it be that the streamer has some powerful trump card that lets him ignore an Innate powerhouse?”
“Maji is actually a Sea-Expelling Realm expert! When Yu Shifei broke through the Condensation Foundation Realm, it was earth-shaking—a single strike like a massive explosion. Although Maji is weaker, he should be able to easily kill the streamer, right?”
“Dakuanzi tipped the streamer 66 gold coins—my whole month’s salary, sob sob sob.”
“Whoa! The person above earns over six thousand a month! Damn, how can a poor guy like me live off two or three thousand a month?”
“All rich people! I work hard at the computer for hours every day, my eyesight is going bad, but I don’t get a single penny! Who’s worse off than me?”
“What kind of job do you have? So awesome? Does your boss delay your salary?”
“Replying upstairs, I’m a web novelist—a perennial flop!”
“Bro, writing web novels, if you’re still alive, that’s already something.”
“Jiuwodeliu tipped the streamer 666 gold coins: Brother writing web novels upstairs, if you’re still alive, you’ve really been blessed by heaven. Keep it up!”

My little sister has a high fever and I need to take her to the hospital. Today was supposed to have four chapters, but unfortunately only three are done. Still, three chapters aren’t few—over seven thousand words. Please recommend the book.
I saw some readers sent red envelopes to this book—thank you, I’m touched.
