Chapter 110: Let Silence Speak
Luo Feiyu and Little Jade helped Chu Dong make his way to the hospital restroom.
Unlike other places where restrooms are separated by gender, this hospital had a shared restroom, with just one door leading inside. Partitions divided the space, allowing someone to enter, settle in, and close the door behind them. This design was meant to make it easier for patients’ families to assist them.
Chu Dong was weak, and his legs still felt a bit shaky, but once he reached the spot, he could manage on his own. Little Jade and Luo Feiyu stood guard on either side of the door, waiting for him.
Chu Dong had been holding it in for far too long; his soft sighs turned into a steady release, the rushing sound audible from a distance—even through the thin door. At this moment, he didn’t care much; it was certainly better than wetting himself.
Little Jade wasn’t fazed by it. As for Luo Feiyu, having never been through such an experience, her face flushed slightly, yet she maintained a calm, nonchalant demeanor before the little girl.
“Do you know my brother-in-law?” Little Jade thought this female police officer was just as impressive as her sister. If her sister embodied the purity and sanctity of a lily, then this officer was like an orchid—graceful and serene, each with their own charm. Little Jade could sense a subtle threat emanating from her.
“Of course. Do you think a police officer would lie?” Luo Feiyu smiled knowingly, aware that the cute little girl was wary of her.
“Not sure. You know the movie Infernal Affairs, right? The more handsome and beautiful, the more dangerous they are.” Little Jade was straightforward, without any hidden agenda.
“Heh.” Luo Feiyu was secretly pleased by the indirect compliment. She reached out and gently patted the girl’s cheek.
“Hey, what’s that for?” Little Jade pouted, displeased. “Taking advantage of me.”
That lighthearted moment eased Luo Feiyu’s earlier embarrassment. After all, for a young girl, overhearing a man relieving himself so close by was hardly comfortable.
Chu Dong finished and pulled up his hospital gown, tidying himself before opening the door. “Well, the weather’s nice today, isn’t it?” Though his memory was a bit foggy, he knew it was awkward to have two beautiful women waiting outside for him to finish. Scratching his hands nervously, he added, “Sorry about that.”
“Is that so?” Little Jade glanced out the window but couldn’t see clearly. She tugged at Chu Dong to move aside, but his legs were unsteady. He had been leaning against the door for support, and with her sudden pull, he stumbled.
Luo Feiyu, a heroine among police, reacted swiftly, reaching out to catch Chu Dong before he could fall. But her feet slipped on the wet floor, causing Chu Dong to fall onto her body.
Public restrooms were hardly like home—water on the floor from washing hands mingled with the smooth tiles, making the floor perilously slippery. The two of them tumbled down hard.
Instinctively, Chu Dong braced himself with his hands. He reacted quickly, but beneath him was Luo Feiyu. Soft, very soft. That was his first impression after falling.
Luo Feiyu was “pinned down,” her most private place firmly held by a pair of large hands. She immediately raised her hand, accompanied by a gentle floral scent, and lightly struck Chu Dong’s cheek, stopping just a hair’s breadth from his skin.
“Let go,” Luo Feiyu said calmly, seeing the sincerity in Chu Dong’s eyes. She wouldn’t allow him to take advantage like that.
Chu Dong, though temporarily amnesiac, was no fool. He knew where he could and couldn’t touch. Embarrassed, he quickly released his grip. But he hadn’t realized how weak he really was. Had he been stronger, he wouldn’t have needed help just to get here. As his strength faded, his hands slipped down Luo Feiyu’s sides, and his handsome face came into close contact with where he had just been holding. This time, he not only sensed softness but also a faint, pleasant fragrance...
“Brother-in-law, brother-in-law.” Little Jade hurried over and helped Chu Dong up. Seeing Luo Feiyu’s flushed face, she asked, “Officer sister, are you okay?”
“Oh, I’m fine.” Luo Feiyu rose to her feet and looked at the still unsteady Chu Dong, silently thinking, “This guy is really heavy.” Indeed, she had pushed him twice but couldn’t budge the man atop her.
After helping Chu Dong back to bed, Little Jade kept thanking her. “Officer sister, you’re amazing. How did you end up under my brother-in-law so quickly? Thank you so much—if it weren’t for you, my sister would have gone crazy if she found out I’d dropped him.”
Luo Feiyu felt somewhat wronged. Who would want to fall under a man like that? If she hadn’t slipped, would he have had the chance to take advantage? But she couldn’t say that out loud. Smiling, she stroked Little Jade’s smooth ponytail. “No need to thank me. Who would want to bully such a beautiful little sister?”
“That’s true.” Little Jade stuck out her tongue playfully.
Dinner time arrived. Chu Dong ate the special meals provided by the hospital, designed to protect his digestive system and boost nutrition. Little Jade and Luo Feiyu ate casually. For some reason, Luo Feiyu really liked this innocent little girl. Knowing her love for sweets, she had gone out and bought plenty of desserts.
Before long, the two had become as close as sisters.
That evening, Tan Xue returned to Dalian and, after settling in, called Little Jade. “How’s Dong Ge? Feeling better?”
“Much better. Brother-in-law ate a lot tonight. Don’t worry, I’m here.” Little Jade was proud of how well she was caring for Chu Dong, though she was a bit full of herself—both complacent and proud.
“Good. You didn’t let that female officer get close to Dong Ge, did you?” Tan Xue’s biggest concern was this. She asked without much preamble.
“I, I...” Little Jade glanced at Luo Feiyu feeding Chu Dong, then quickly turned her eyes, “No, of course not. With me here, you can rest assured, brother-in-law is very safe.”
“That’s good. Uncle Li will come to pick you up in the morning. You’ll come back to the villa in the development zone. I’ll be at the office tomorrow, then I’ll come back. Go to bed early tonight.” After the instructions, Tan Xue hung up.
Little Jade breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, Luo Feiyu had stayed silent. If her sister knew she’d let a policewoman into the room, she’d be rushing back immediately.
Once Chu Dong had finished the hospital meal, Luo Feiyu finally began eating the sweets she had bought outside. Seeing Chu Dong watching her and Little Jade eat longingly, she laughed.
“What are you looking at? Didn’t you just eat?”
“Not full.” Chu Dong watched them with hungry eyes, smacking his lips.
“Brother-in-law, it’s not that we won’t give you any. The doctor said you must follow the diet strictly. No overeating for now.” Little Jade came to his bedside, resting her chin on her hands, eyes sparkling with a smile. “Brother-in-law, you should go to sleep. It’s been such a tiring day—you’ve been to the bathroom five times already.”
Chu Dong felt a little embarrassed. After so many IV drips, it was only natural that his body needed to relieve itself. After the first time, things became more manageable, and whenever there was an issue, the two girls were there to help.
“All right, I’ll sleep. You should sleep too.” Chu Dong didn’t say more. He pulled the blanket over himself and secretly nibbled on an apple under the covers.
Little Jade had been staying here for several days and was used to the routine. When bedtime came, she’d get sleepy without a fuss. Seeing Chu Dong glance her way, she confidently changed into her new pajamas. Just as she was about to climb into bed, she noticed Luo Feiyu still in her uniform, sitting upright. Curiously, she asked,
“Sister Xiao Yu, why aren’t you sleeping?”
“I didn’t bring any clothes,” Luo Feiyu replied softly, as if not wanting Chu Dong to hear.
“Oh, I see. Let me find you something from sister’s clothes. You two have similar figures.” Little Jade rummaged through her bag but didn’t find anything. She returned disappointedly. “Sister took them away.” She sat beside Luo Feiyu and suddenly blurted out something that nearly made Chu Dong spit out his apple. “Sister Xiao Yu, maybe you should sleep naked. I heard it’s healthy.”
Perhaps Chu Dong nearly choking caught Little Jade’s attention. She yanked the blanket off his face and confiscated the half-eaten apple. “So you’ve learned to sneak food now.”
“I’m not sneaking. I just didn’t tell you when I was eating,” Chu Dong defended himself, feeling awkward being watched while eating, even at his age.
“Brother-in-law, you’re not behaving. My sister and the doctor told me to take care of you strictly. When you’re better, I’ll peel apples for you every day, but for now, you have to hold back.” Little Jade tossed the remaining half of the apple into the trash, patted her hands, and, glancing at the smirking Luo Feiyu, sighed. “Sister Xiao Yu, you sleep on that bed. I’ll squeeze in with brother-in-law and keep an eye on him. He’s far too unreliable.”
Chu Dong looked sadly at the discarded apple and shuffled over to make room. The little girl lay between him and the small fruit cabinet, taking her responsibility seriously.
The coastal weather was still warm at this time. Young men and women hadn’t yet started wearing autumn clothes. Luo Feiyu wore a shirt over her uniform pants, but underneath, she had only one layer. She couldn’t take off her pants and unlike Little Jade, wasn’t carefree enough to disregard modesty. She removed her shirt and prepared to lie down. Seeing a cup of water by the bedside, she took a sip just as Chu Dong turned to face her.
“You really know me?” Chu Dong seemed to have regained much energy. He winked at her and joked, “Or is it just because I’m too handsome?”
Seeing his self-loving grin, Luo Feiyu nearly sprayed water from her mouth, drenching Chu Dong’s face across the bed.
Little Jade put on her headphones, oblivious to her brother-in-law’s recent recovery and playful antics, and peacefully dozed off.
“If you behaved more, maybe I’d actually like you,” Luo Feiyu teased, recalling what Little Jade had said about him. She raised her chin and, turning her back to him, added a cryptic remark that left Chu Dong scratching his head.
“Behave?” Chu Dong wasn’t sure what that meant and asked, “Does eating properly count?”
No reply, but Luo Feiyu shook her index finger gently behind him.
Chu Dong hurried on, “Then, does not going to the bathroom count?”
“Ahem…” Luo Feiyu coughed dramatically, sat up, and mock-scolded the wide-eyed Chu Dong. “Not answering counts.”
Chu Dong immediately shut his mouth tight.
