The next day.

Lu Ye was still lost in the haze of sleep when he suddenly felt a chill across his body. He thought perhaps he’d kicked off the covers in his sleep. Reaching out to tug the blanket back, he found it wouldn’t budge.

He opened his eyes—and swore aloud.

The older woman was lying right beside him, having stolen his blanket. This was simply outrageous!

Su Qianqian was startled awake by his exclamation, blinking in confusion. “What’s going on?”

Lu Ye, bewildered, asked, “Why are you leaving your soft bed to fight me for the spot on the floor? What’s that about?”

Only then did Su Qianqian realize she was lying on the makeshift bed that rightfully belonged to Lu Ye. Rubbing her drowsy eyes, the strap of her nightdress slipped, revealing a flash of radiant skin.

Startled, Su Qianqian hastily covered her chest and cried out, “You jerk! Why’d you carry me down from the bed?”

“Come on!” Lu Ye protested, all innocence. “I was sleeping soundly all night. If you hadn’t stolen my blanket, I’d still be asleep! And if I wanted to take advantage of you, wouldn’t I have climbed into your bed? Why would I bother hauling you down here?”

That did seem to make sense.

Su Qianqian retraced her memories, and her cheeks instantly flushed bright red.

These past few days, the lingering chill of early spring had been especially biting, and the air damp. Su Qianqian tossed and turned half the night, unable to warm her own bed. Meanwhile, Lu Ye slept deeply on the floor, his breathing calm and rhythmic.

Unable to stand the cold any longer, she had quietly slipped into his blanket for warmth. Her plan was to sneak back to her own bed before morning—after all, she usually woke earlier than the little rascal—and pretend nothing had happened.

She hadn’t counted on her habit of hogging the covers in her sleep, which had left Lu Ye shivering awake in the morning.

Seeing Su Qianqian’s guilty, blushing face, Lu Ye understood immediately.

“Oh, I see! So you were the one taking advantage of me while I slept, huh?”

“You really are shameless, old lady!”

Su Qianqian erupted in indignation. “Nonsense! You’re the one acting innocent after getting the better end of the deal!”

So began their early-morning quarrel.

Any trace of sleep gone, they stood side by side at the bathroom sink, washing up. Lu Ye, toothbrush in mouth, mumbled, “I’m free today. Should I go back to work at Yiren Group?”

Su Qianqian spat out her toothpaste foam. “No need. You’re coming with me to Licheng.”

The office building project had already been finalized. With Su Qianqian’s decisive and efficient style, she wasn’t about to waste time—construction would begin at once, and she needed to be there to supervise the start of work.

Lu Ye nodded. “Alright.”

Only after heading downstairs did they discover someone had risen even earlier than them.

Since the collapse of Riley International, Lu Ye hadn’t assigned Luo Ying any new tasks, hoping she could use a long holiday to relax. But with nothing to do at home, Luo Ying had taken to occasionally acting as a housekeeper, buying groceries and cooking meals for the Su family.

Breakfast was already laid out.

“Sis Ying, you’re so domestic,” Lu Ye complimented as he stuffed his mouth with food.

Luo Ying smiled modestly. “Captain, have you got a new mission for me? I’m going stir-crazy at home with nothing to do!”

Lu Ye thought for a moment, then slapped his thigh. “As a matter of fact, I do!”

Luo Ying’s eyes lit up. “What is it?”

“Today, you’re going shopping with my sister. All her clothes are from last year—she really needs to update her wardrobe.”

With that, Lu Ye handed her a bank card, grinning. “Take this card and spend as you please. Don’t come back until you’ve spent at least two million.”

Luo Ying blinked in surprise, accepted the card, and smiled. “Alright. I’ll see the task through.”

Meanwhile, hundreds of kilometers away, Lady Meng was tearing the house apart searching for something, muttering under her breath, “Where’s my bank card?”

As they headed out, Su Qianqian wanted to drive the Koenigsegg.

Lu Ye insisted on taking his Wuling Hongguang instead.

Unable to agree, they settled it with rock-paper-scissors.

Lu Ye won!

So, behind the wheel of the Wuling Hongguang, they drove to Licheng.

The Yiren Group’s construction crew had worked through the night to deliver all the machinery and equipment. A wall had already been erected around the site.

Once there, Su Qianqian methodically assigned tasks and briefed the site manager on key details.

Lu Ye, having no knowledge of such matters, saw how busy she was and decided to leave her to work, driving the Wuling Hongguang over to Yueyao Real Estate.

He wanted to confront Caicai face-to-face and ask her why she’d arranged for him to join Y6.

As soon as Lu Ye’s Wuling Hongguang rolled through the gates of Yueyao Real Estate, a rich young man blocked his way.

“Hey, you clueless loser! Can’t you see Young Master Chen has arranged a heart-shaped display of sports cars inside? Don’t drive your junk in and ruin the scene.”

Lu Ye simply parked at the entrance to watch the spectacle, glancing inside with curiosity.

Well, now!

A dozen or so luxury sports cars were arranged in a heart formation at the entrance. In the center stood a slick, pampered young man with a megaphone in hand: “Yueyao, I love you! Be my girlfriend!”

Suddenly, a window a few floors up flew open, and a bucket of cold water was dumped out.

Chen Yu was instantly drenched, looking like a drowned rat, reminiscent of Zhang Yunjie in days past.

But Chen Yu wasn’t discouraged. Wiping water from his face, he shouted again with his megaphone, “Yueyao, I love you! No matter how much cold water you throw at me, you can’t put out the fire in my heart!”

At that moment, Cai Yueyao leaned halfway out the window and yelled down, “Cold water can’t cool your burning heart, huh? Just wait, I’ll give you a refrigerator!”

A few seconds later, this strong-willed young woman really did drag out a refrigerator!

Dangling it outside the window with both hands, she shouted, unflustered, “Idiot! Didn’t you say you loved me? Then don’t move!”

She let go, and the refrigerator plummeted.

Chen Yu actually stood there, rooted to the spot.

Bang!

The heavy fridge missed Chen Yu’s head but landed squarely on the roof of the lead Bugatti in the heart formation, leaving a massive dent.

Well, she certainly knew how to pick an expensive target.

Cai Yueyao was about to close the window when she caught sight of the Wuling Hongguang parked at the gate, with Lu Ye inside, waving cheekily at her.

Well, well!

The rascal had actually come to find her?

Was the sun rising in the west today?

Cai Yueyao cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted, “Don’t go! Wait for me down there!”

The clueless Chen Yu thought she was speaking to him, so he picked up his megaphone and replied, “Don’t worry, Yueyao, I’m not going anywhere!”

Show over, Lu Ye chuckled and pressed the gas, driving the Wuling Hongguang inside.

The same young heir who’d blocked him earlier rushed over, yelling, “You loser! Didn’t I tell you not to bring your piece of junk in here? Don’t you understand plain language?”

Lu Ye flicked the steering wheel, the Wuling Hongguang’s tail swinging in a perfect arc as it drifted past, tires screeching, and slid precisely into a parking spot.

The motion was as smooth as flowing water—flawless!

A group of rich young men nearby were left gaping.

They’d all brought their luxury cars to support Chen Yu, including the one who’d tried to block Lu Ye.

“Damn, that was one hell of a drift!”

“Only true veterans drive a Wuling like that!”

“Is that guy from around here?”

As they whispered, Cai Yueyao came bounding out of the building, looking delighted.

Chen Yu rushed forward, “Yueyao, are you accepting my confession?”

But she swept right past him as if he were invisible, skipping straight to the Wuling Hongguang.

“You rascal! You finally came to see me!”

The rich kids exchanged confused glances and turned to Chen Yu. “Young Master Chen, what’s going on?”

Chen Yu could only shake his head, baffled.

Through the windshield, they watched as Cai Yueyao leapt up and climbed in through the driver’s side window, sprawling herself all over Lu Ye before crawling into the passenger seat, her manner incredibly affectionate.

Damn, that was one bold way to get in a car.

But who was that loser, anyway?
