Tan Dong forced himself to calm down and think again. Comfort alone might not be enough to win Qianqian’s heart. What if, right in front of her, he taught those two shameless people a lesson? That would definitely do the trick!

Suddenly, Tan Dong remembered that his father had a longtime business partner and close friend in Pearl City—Lin Zhongtang. Their families dined together every year, so Tan Dong was actually on decent terms with Lin Bei, who was about his age. The Lin family was one of the city’s six major families. If he got Lin Bei to step in and deal with Lu Ye, that pretty boy, there’d be no problem at all!

He chuckled foolishly and made a call. “Hello, Young Master Lin?”

“It’s Tan Dong. I’m in Pearl City and need a favor from you.”

Tan Dong didn’t mention Lu Ye’s name, only said he wanted to teach a pair of shameless lovers a lesson. Lin Bei immediately agreed—after all, Tan Dong was his father’s friend’s son, so he had to show some respect.

Little did they know, Lu Ye was struggling to hold back his laughter. But for the sake of the perfect counterattack that was about to unfold, he forced himself to endure!

Tan Dong noticed Lu Ye’s shoulders trembling and, thinking it was from fear, grinned triumphantly. “What’s wrong? Afraid now?”

Lu Ye nodded, his voice shaking. “You really went and told my wife?”

Lu Ye’s panicked, scared appearance made Tan Dong feel incredibly satisfied.

“Haha, I’m not afraid to tell you!” Tan Dong announced. “I didn’t just tell Qianqian to come and catch you in the act—I even called in a big shot to deal with you!”

“Do you know Lin Bei? The eldest son of the Lin family, one of Pearl City’s six great clans!”

Hearing Lin Bei’s name, Lu Ye’s expression instantly changed to one of terror.

“What? You even called the Lin family’s young master to deal with me?”

“Tan Dong, do you really have to go this far?”

Planting his hands on his hips, Tan Dong roared with laughter. “Yes, I’m going this far! What, you have a problem with that?”

Lu Ye pursed his lips in a faint smile. “All right, just don’t regret it later.”

“The only one who’ll regret anything is you,” Tan Dong sneered. “You’ll regret ever opposing me, regret stealing my woman, regret making me your enemy!”

Just then, the fierce roar of a Koenigsegg’s engine drew closer and closer to Yijun Bar.

Tan Dong smirked coldly. “Qianqian’s here. Have you thought of your excuse yet?”

Lu Ye only chuckled, offering no reply.

Su Qianqian parked her car by the beach. She changed into a pair of little sandals, then walked over gracefully, unhurried and composed.

The smile on her face was as warm as spring sunshine—she didn’t look like someone coming to catch her cheating husband, but more like she was on vacation!

Tan Dong hurried over, waving. “Qianqian, those two shameless people are right here!”

Su Qianqian’s face turned icy. “Who are you calling names?”

“Lu Ye, of course. He brought his mistress here to fool around—what else would you call it?”

Smack!

Su Qianqian raised her hand and slapped him across the face, her voice sharp. “Tan Dong, try insulting my husband and Sister Yiyi again and see what happens!”

Tan Dong was stunned. He’d tried to help her catch a cheater, and she hit him?

Su Qianqian brushed past him, went over, and hugged Liu Yiyi affectionately. The two beautiful women burst into peals of silvery laughter.

What was going on?

While Tan Dong stood there bewildered, someone patted him on the shoulder from behind.

“Young Master Tan, I’m here.”

“So, where are those two shameless people you mentioned?”

Tan Dong turned to see Lin Bei approaching, flanked by several companions, all with the air of wealthy scoundrels. He asked in confusion, “Young Master Lin, who are these people?”

“They’re young masters from the other big families. We were just having morning tea when you said there were two shameless people around, so they wanted to come teach them a lesson too.”

After introducing Zhang Yunjie, Yang Tianyu, and the others, Lin Bei asked, “So, where are they?”

Tan Dong’s mind whirled. He hadn’t expected Lin Bei to bring along all these heirs. With the five great families’ scions gathered, surely they wouldn’t be afraid of Su Qianqian alone?

He pointed toward Lu Ye. “Young Master Lin, it’s them!”

The group of heirs squinted at the man’s back—it looked awfully familiar.

Lu Ye turned around and shouted, “What are you staring at? Get over here and pay your respects to the boss lady!”

The group immediately rushed over and, practically groveling, squatted before Su Qianqian, each wearing a sycophantic grin.

“Boss lady, we’ve come to greet you!”

“Long live the boss lady! Long live, long live!”

The bunch of clowns managed to make Su Qianqian look like Empress Wu Zetian herself.

She couldn’t help but laugh, playing along. “Rise, my loyal subjects!”

The young masters kowtowed in unison. “Thank you, Your Majesty!”

The world spun, and Tan Dong collapsed on the sand.

Lin Bei strode over, grabbed him by the collar, and delivered a punch to his face.

Bang!

“Ahhh!”

Tan Dong’s two front teeth flew out, blood spurting as he stammered, “Young Master Lin, isn’t this all just a misunderstanding?”

Zhang Yunjie sprinted over and delivered a flying kick, sending Tan Dong sprawling several meters further.

“Misunderstanding my foot! You almost got us all killed, you bastard!”

Yang Tianyu, Huang Shaojun, and Sun Tongwei joined in, too. The five notorious troublemakers pinned Tan Dong to the sand and gave him a savage beating, finally dragging him like a dead dog and tossing him at Lu Ye’s feet.

“Brother Lu, how do you want us to deal with him?”

Lu Ye glanced at the unconscious Tan Dong and smiled faintly. “Dig a hole and bury him.”

They looked at each other, then cautiously reminded him, “Brother Lu, burying a body is illegal!”

“If you know it’s illegal, why haven’t you let him go yet?” Lu Ye barked. “He was alive and kicking before, but you’ve beaten him half to death. Now you have the nerve to ask me how to deal with him?”

“Oh, oh, oh!” The young masters hoisted Tan Dong and hurriedly made their exit.

Watching them disappear in a flurry, Su Qianqian asked, “He won’t actually die, will he?”

“Don’t worry, he’ll live.” Lu Ye didn’t mention that some important part of Tan Dong’s anatomy, after being repeatedly dragged through the rough beach sand, was probably mangled beyond recognition. He wouldn’t die, but he’d likely grow more effeminate from now on.

Lu Ye didn’t think this outcome was excessive. Back in Licheng, Tan Dong had tried to gather a group to kidnap Su Qianqian for his own pleasure, but had ended up kidnapping his own mother by mistake and breaking his own father’s legs. Regardless of the outcome, his intentions toward Su Qianqian had been vile, which touched Lu Ye’s bottom line.

For the sake of Tan Songming and his wife, Lu Ye had given him a chance, but Tan Dong refused to repent. He tried to use the office building project to cause trouble, using Cai Yueyao as a pawn to make things difficult for Su Qianqian. And now, once again, he jumped out to make trouble.

If Tan Dong hadn’t called Lin Bei, he wouldn’t have brought along the other heirs and ended up in such a miserable state. In the end, he had only himself to blame.

Once everyone had left, Lu Ye said, “Yiyi, I doubt he’ll dare bother you ever again.”

Liu Yiyi flashed a sweet, dazzling smile. “Hee hee, thank you, Captain!”

Lu Ye instinctively put his arm around her shoulder, laughing, “No problem, little mistress.”

Smack!

Before he could finish, a slap landed on his face.

Su Qianqian glared at him. “I’ve been a little gentle with you these days, and now you’re getting cocky?”

Liu Yiyi was so startled she shuddered. “Um, I’ll be leaving now!”

Lu Ye covered the handprint on his cheek, muttering, “Uh, I’ll just walk her back, then!”

With that, he turned to slip away.

Su Qianqian called out coldly, “Stop right there! Are you rebelling against heaven itself?”

“Go home, pack up, and prepare for your funeral!”
