Chapter 33: My Childhood Name is Yeye
Overnight, a new real estate company appeared in Mingzhu City—right across from Yiren Group: Wealth Realty.
When Lu Ye drove Su Qianqian to work, the opening ceremony for Wealth Realty had just ended, and the company was officially open for business.
At the entrance to Yiren Group, two burly men blocked Lu Ye’s Passat.
“President Su, Young Master Xu invites you to visit and offer your guidance.”
Su Qianqian responded unhappily, “I’m not going.”
The two men sneered, “That’s not up to you. Young Master Xu said, even if we have to tie you up, you’re going.”
Lu Ye chuckled and answered for her, “No need for that. We’ll go over ourselves.”
With that, he shifted into reverse and floored the gas, cutting straight across the street.
The tires screeched, raising a plume of blue smoke as the Passat came to a stylish stop at Wealth Realty’s door, only a few centimeters from Xu Fugui, who was waiting to greet Su Qianqian.
But Xu Fugui wasn’t startled. He calmly clapped twice and remarked dismissively, “Nice driving, but this old car’s airbags wouldn’t save anyone. It’s a bit shabby.”
Lu Ye leaned out the window, smiling. “My wife likes it. Does it concern you?”
Su Qianqian was taken aback and whispered, “Don’t provoke him, you little rascal. We can’t afford to mess with his family.”
Lu Ye scoffed, “He’s the one who ruined your office sofa yesterday, right?”
Xu Fugui, towering above, replied arrogantly, “That’s right. I went to Qianqian’s office to advise her to divorce you. You’re not worthy of her!”
Lu Ye ignored him, watching as Xu Fugui opened the car door for Su Qianqian, eager to please. “Qianqian, I heard Yiren Group is focused on real estate now. Looks like we’re in the same business.”
Su Qianqian replied absently, “Mm.”
Xu Fugui continued boasting, “Wealth Realty has already contracted the entire Jiangbei District development in Mingzhu City. I think our two companies could partner up, boost efficiency, and make a fortune together!”
Su Qianqian rejected him without a second thought, “No need. I have plenty of projects already. I don’t have the energy for more right now.”
Lu Ye interjected, “Don’t be so quick to turn down Young Master Xu’s generosity! Only a fool refuses to make money!”
Ignoring Su Qianqian’s protests, Lu Ye feigned humility, “Young Master Xu, what percentage can Yiren Group get if we cooperate with you?”
Seeing Lu Ye lower himself, Xu Fugui became even more smug. Last night, Su Zijun had hyped him up as some big shot, but now he looked like a nobody groveling before him. Clearly, there was nothing to worry about; this useless man wasn’t worth a second thought.
Xu Fugui said, “I can give Yiren Group an eighty percent profit. Wealth Realty only needs to cover costs. Money doesn’t matter much to me—this is mainly for self-improvement.”
Lu Ye clapped enthusiastically.
“Fantastic! That’s generosity for you, Young Master Xu! What are you waiting for? Let’s sign the contract!”
Afraid Su Qianqian might reconsider, Xu Fugui immediately ordered a partnership agreement to be printed for the Jiangbei District development project.
Su Qianqian wanted to refuse, but Lu Ye leaned in and whispered, “Old lady, don’t you hate him?”
She nodded slightly, whispering back, “Yes. If you know that, why push me to work with him? What’s your plan?”
Lu Ye grinned slyly, “Take this chance to make him lose everything. Do you think that’ll make him give up on you?”
Su Qianqian slapped Lu Ye’s thigh, “Damn, that’s a brilliant idea!”
She couldn’t help but laugh—her little rascal never failed to surprise. Without further hesitation, she signed the contract on the spot.
Once the signatures were confirmed, Xu Fugui snapped the folder shut, grinning in satisfaction.
Yes! Now that we’re partners, I have endless excuses to see Qianqian, all under the guise of business.
But Lu Ye must be a fool. Why else would he hand his wife to me on a silver platter?
Xu Fugui, in high spirits, slapped Lu Ye’s shoulder and laughed boisterously. “Thanks, buddy. What’s your surname? How should I address you?”
“No need for formalities—I’m Lu Ye. You can call me Ye-ye, my nickname.”
Lu Ye laughed as well, firmly shaking Xu Fugui’s injured arm.
Xu Fugui, distracted by the nickname, suddenly felt a sharp pain as his wound was twisted, biting his tongue and blurting out, “Grandpa, grandpa, grandpa!”
“See, my nickname just sounds so affectionate!”
Lu Ye smiled kindly, as if the man before him were his long-lost grandson.
“I heard Young Master Xu was attacked last night. Are you alright?” he asked, shaking Xu Fugui’s injured arm even more.
“Ow! You’re pulling my wound, you bastard!”
“Oh, I’m really sorry!”
Su Qianqian struggled to suppress her laughter—indeed, only a rascal can deal with a rascal, and her own little rascal’s tricks were unmatched, shining across the land.
She forced a stern face and said, “Little rascal, let’s go back.”
“At your command!”
Back at Yiren Group, Su Qianqian’s gloom from yesterday had vanished.
She was even in such a good mood that she sent the receptionist a 0.01 yuan red envelope, moving the girl to tears.
The new office sofa had just arrived.
Without a word, Lu Ye stretched out and lay down—damn, it was comfortable!
Su Qianqian couldn’t help but smile, scolding, “It’s all your fault. Xu Fugui’s ridiculous cry of 'grandpa' is still echoing in my mind!”
“Haha! If you’d told me the truth earlier, you wouldn’t have been depressed all night.”
“Fine, I underestimated you!”
Lu Ye sat up with a gulp, suddenly serious. “Old lady, from now on, whatever trouble you face, tell me right away. I don’t want to see you frowning anymore.”
Su Qianqian was stunned. Was this a roundabout confession?
But we’re only in a fake marriage, after all.
Little rascal, what if you fall too deep?
When it’s time to part, what excuse can I use to spare you heartbreak?
As a thousand thoughts raced through her mind, Lu Ye added, “Otherwise, I’ll have to climb onto the windowsill again. That’s exhausting!”
Her smile froze.
“Get out!”
Lu Ye slunk out, dusting off his backside, and drove to the south bank of Mingzhu River.
Yiren Club!
It was demanded by those society ladies—a club by the riverside, price no object, but it had to be a spectacular waterfront property, worthy of their status.
A three-story villa, fully renovated, every amenity in place, just waiting for staff to start business.
This was Lu Ye’s first real asset, and he felt a touch of pride as he stood at the door, briefly lost in self-admiration.
“Boss, are you hiring?”
Lu Ye looked back, slightly surprised, to see a young man about his age standing behind him.
He nodded, “Yes. Any special skills?”
“My tongue is special.”
The young man stuck out his tongue, mumbling, “See? It’s long, isn’t it?”
Lu Ye nodded, a bit stunned—it really was long, able to reach his own nose.
Wait, is that what I meant by ‘special skills’?
The young man boasted like a salesman, “Boss, believe it or not, my tongue’s been trained countless times. Even if a coin’s been hidden in rotten pork for a month, I can lick it out!”
Lu Ye’s mouth twitched, revolted. “Brother, this is a respectable club. You’d better turn left at the next intersection. The White Horse Club over there is hiring people like you.”
The young man waved his hand, “Boss, you misunderstood. I meant I have great eloquence and want to apply for your store manager position.”
He looked decent enough, and had a playful air about him. The ladies would probably like him.
Lu Ye thought for a moment, then nodded, “Alright. What’s your name?”
The young man was moved, “Thank you, boss. My name is Wu Qing—Wu as in noon, Qing as in ‘beauty’!”
Lu Ye sighed, “Truly a beauty, but alas, destined for the crows.”
