Chapter 17: Truly Worthy of Being My Son-in-Law
Lu Ye casually threw on a jacket, and with a mischievous grin said, “Enough joking, you’d better lie down.”
Su Qianqian blinked in surprise. “Weren’t you going to use the ‘Return My Beauty Punch’? How am I supposed to get beaten up lying down?”
Lu Ye muttered softly, “Actually, if I use a relatively gentle massage technique, it achieves the same effect…”
“Unbelievable!”
“Keep your voice down. If your mom hears, I’m doomed!”
Obediently, Su Qianqian lay flat on Lu Ye’s bed. It was the first time Lu Ye could thoroughly admire her tall, graceful figure in such detail.
Gulp.
Su Qianqian, eyes closed, chuckled lightly. “You little rascal, are you swallowing your saliva?”
“Yes.”
Lu Ye admitted it outright; there was nothing shameful about it. His wife was just so beautiful—what could he do?
Su Qianqian had been a workaholic for years, and overwork had gradually drained the vitality from her skin. Dark circles and eye bags had quietly crept onto her once flawless face.
Lu Ye kneaded and massaged Su Qianqian’s cheeks, his hands seeming to carry a mysterious magic. The soothing sensation seeped into every capillary, and those subtle imperfections slowly faded away.
Giving a massage to the most beautiful woman in Mingzhu City was a pleasure in itself. Lu Ye took the opportunity to press a few more acupoints to calm her mind and ease her fatigue.
Before they knew it, time passed, and Su Qianqian had drifted off to sleep…
Early the next morning.
When Su Qianqian woke up, she suddenly realized her energy was at its peak today. Normally, she would lounge in bed for at least ten more minutes, always feeling as though she hadn’t slept enough.
“So comfortable!” Su Qianqian sat up with a stretch, murmuring sweetly to herself.
“Wait a minute—this isn’t my room!”
Once the realization hit, she was startled and flung the blanket aside.
Lu Ye was snuggled under the covers, sleeping soundly, his legs draped across Su Qianqian’s body…
“You scoundrel, die!”
Smack!
“Ah!”
Ten minutes later, Lu Ye went downstairs for breakfast, nursing a belly full of grievances.
Su Qianqian calmly sipped her porridge, as if nothing had happened.
However, her mother, Li Shuqin, asked with concern, “Son-in-law, how did you get a palm print on your face?”
Lu Ye touched the bright red mark on his face, cast a resentful glance at Su Qianqian, and said, “A certain wild kitten slapped me.”
Li Shuqin didn’t quite catch his meaning and teased, “Oh? So do you want our Qianqian to be a wild kitten or a house cat?”
Lu Ye paused and replied, “If I could choose, I’d prefer she be a person.”
“By the way, where’s your father-in-law?”
Li Shuqin answered, “Oh, him? He said he was afraid of complications, so he went to Su Group early this morning to handle the share transfer.”
Lu Ye was taken aback. “So urgent? I was going to accompany him tomorrow.”
Su Qianqian tilted her head. “Why don’t you go to Su Group and check things out? I doubt those two will just hand over the company to my dad.”
Lu Ye nodded. “Alright, I’ll drop your car off for repairs while I’m at it. You’ll have to take a taxi to work today.”
…
Compared to Su Qianqian’s Yiren Group, Su Group was truly a giant, with businesses spanning finance, hotels, restaurants, import and export, and other fields. Its market value was over a billion, and Hongying Society had set its sights on Su Group’s formidable money-making power, hoping to turn the Su family into another Zhang family under their control.
Su Shiming arrived at Su Group headquarters early. Last night, when his son-in-law told him he’d be receiving 50% of the company shares and would be promoted to chairman, he had been too excited to sleep.
Half of Su Group should have belonged to Su Shiming’s mother. After her passing, Su Shanglin tried to swallow her shares and gift them to his illegitimate son—how could Su Shiming accept that?
Luckily, his son-in-law was outstanding and managed to reclaim what rightfully belonged to him.
Su Shiming couldn’t wait another moment and just wanted to secure those shares.
But as soon as he arrived, he was firmly blocked at the door. The security guard refused to let him in: “Sorry, non-employees without appointments are not allowed.”
“Are you blind? I’m Su Shiming! Let me in!”
The security guard insisted, “Company policy: no entry without prior appointment. Please don’t make things difficult for me.”
Su Shiming was furious and helpless; it was obvious the security was purposely giving him trouble. Wasn’t it clear who was behind this?
Clearly, Su Shanglin and Su Zijun were deliberately setting obstacles.
If Su Shiming couldn’t walk through the doors of Su Group honorably, how could he talk about receiving shares?
Just as the situation was at a stalemate, a voice barked out from behind him.
“You fool, Su Group hired you as security, not as a dog. You’re a disgrace to your profession.”
A flash of joy lit up Su Shiming’s eyes. “Son-in-law, you’re here?”
“Yes, Qianqian was worried you’d be too soft on your own family, so she asked me to see if you needed help.”
Su Shiming sighed. “They won’t even let me in.”
“I’d like to see who dares stop us.”
Lu Ye strode forward, grabbed Su Shiming, and marched towards the entrance.
The security guard immediately blocked their way. “You can’t go in!”
Lu Ye sneered, “Don’t touch me, or face the consequences.”
The security guard paid no heed and stubbornly reached for Lu Ye’s arm.
There was a muffled thud—though Lu Ye barely seemed to move, as soon as the guard’s fingers brushed his jacket, he was sent flying several meters away in an inexplicable fall.
Su Shiming waved his hand and cheered, exaggerating, “Haha! As expected from my son-in-law, peerless martial arts! What technique was that?”
Lu Ye smiled lightly. “Eighteen Falls of the Brushed Sleeve.”
“Impressive, truly impressive!”
The two laughed, arms slung over each other’s shoulders, swaggering through the security gate straight to the elevator.
Just then, two elevators descended from the third floor.
Su Shiming reminded him, “The third floor is the Security Department…”
Lu Ye nodded and had Su Shiming step back, standing behind him.
Ding!
Both elevator doors opened at once. Su Zijun and Su Shanglin emerged, surrounded by a crowd of security guards, their arrogance on full display.
Su Zijun sneered, “Lu Ye, before you cause trouble, you’d better figure out whose territory this is. I can’t believe you’re stupid enough to walk right in!”
Lu Ye’s eyes narrowed. “Looks like you’re not planning to hand over the shares honestly?”
Su Zijun burst into laughter. “Ha! We’ve already sold those 50% shares overnight. Does that infuriate you?”
Su Shiming was stunned. “Who did you sell them to?”
A young man stepped out from behind Su Zijun and Su Shanglin. “Me.”
Upon seeing him, Lu Ye chuckled. “We meet again, Young Master Lin.”
Lin Bei looked at him arrogantly, full of contempt. “That’s right, I bought 50% of Su Group’s shares for five hundred million.”
Last night, Lin Bei had approached Su Shanglin and Su Zijun, offering to buy half of Su Group for five hundred million.
The two eagerly agreed. Rather than giving the shares to Su Shiming for nothing, it was better to sell them to Lin Bei and make five hundred million.
If Su Shiming objected, he could take it up with Lin Bei—after all, the Lin family’s young master was no pushover.
Su Shiming asked in surprise, “Young Master Lin, may I ask why you acquired shares in Su Group?”
“Uncle Su, I bought the shares as a gift for you, on the condition that you let Qianqian marry me and kick out Lu Ye, that freeloader!”
Lin Bei pointed at Lu Ye’s nose and barked, “I’ve investigated your background—you’re just a poor only child, with no wealthy sister. The woman who gave you two hundred million at the Hilton yesterday is actually your sugar mama. Am I right?”
Lu Ye applauded, laughing. “I have to admire your imagination. You’re half right.”
Lin Bei immediately snorted, “Uncle Su, now you see what kind of person he is? He’s engaged to Qianqian, yet he’s out there being kept by a rich woman!”
