Chapter 110: Why Don’t You Blame Me?
Page 1/3
Lu suddenly remembered. When he first entered, it seemed Guo Kun had shouted at him.
“Am I really that petty?”
“Get up. I didn’t take it to heart, it’s just a trivial matter.”
Seeing Lu had no intention of blaming him, Guo Kun heaved a sigh of relief and stood up.
At that moment, a few of his underlings called from the bar entrance, “Brother Kun, the car’s ready. Let’s hurry and take the boss to the hospital!”
Guo Kun replied, “No need. You all come inside.”
They froze for a moment, then showed sorrowful expressions. “Ah? Could it be that the boss has already…”
Guo Kun cursed with a laugh, “Damn it, the boss is fine!”
The men walked in cautiously and saw Zhou Hong now drinking as if nothing had happened.
If not for the blood-stained white shirt, which was still shockingly visible, one might have forgotten this gentleman had just narrowly escaped death’s door.
Lu whispered, “You all come closer.”
They all recognized him—the boss’s eldest brother.
Without hesitation, they gathered around Lu.
Without saying much, Lu immediately launched a flurry of healing strikes, curing all their wounds, big and small.
Guo Kun pointed weakly toward a corner of the bar and asked, “Brother, there are still three lying on the floor over there. Can you heal them too?”
Lu smiled and nodded.
Guo Kun exclaimed with joy, “I’ll go drag them over!”
Lu stopped him. “Don’t bother them. I’ll go myself.”
Those three brothers, who had almost given up, instantly felt revived.
As they got up, they all admired Lu’s miraculous healing skills.
True to his word, Zhou Hong changed clothes in the office and insisted on taking Guo Kun and the others out for a late-night snack.
Lu went along.
They picked a random street food stall, and Zhou Hong ordered dishes like spicy duck blood and chicken blood curd.
“Eat more, replenish your blood.”
Zhou Hong laughed, “Brother Lu, how about you try a skewer?”
Lu declined distastefully, “You guys enjoy. I’ve been overeating lately. Sometimes I have to cough blood to speed up my metabolism.”
“All right then, I won’t hold back.”
Lu poured himself a cup of tea and asked, “So, who ultimately dealt with the Hongying Society?”
Zhou Hong said he had fainted and didn’t know what happened afterward.
Guo Kun chewed his food and said, “It was a woman.”
Lu waited for more, but when Guo Kun didn’t continue, he asked in surprise, “That’s it?”
Guo Kun made a bitter face. “I didn’t even react in time. The Hongying Society members were wiped out by her in an instant.”
“From the moment she appeared to when she finished and left, it probably took less than half a minute. All I remember is she used three boomerang-shaped throwing blades.”
Lu suddenly understood. “Oh, then I know who she is.”
Zhou Hong asked, “Brother Lu, you know this woman?”
Lu nodded. “Yes.”
Zhou Hong said, “Can you take me to meet her? She’s my lifesaver.”
Lu laughed, “You’ve definitely heard of her—Tang Qianyan.”
Zhou Hong gasped, “Whoa! So the one who saved me is the top assassin?”

“She wasn’t exactly here to save you. She’s been hunting the Hongying Society lately to earn the Xu family’s bounty.”
“Today, it just so happened she ran into them here. You don’t need to be overly grateful to her.”
Zhou Hong nodded, “I understand.”
But as they ate, Zhou Hong suddenly found the skewers tasteless…
Bar 66 fell, becoming the first outpost breached by the Hongying Society.
Zhou Hong felt partly responsible and guilty toward Y6.
Seeing his sour face, Lu guessed what was on his mind.
He comforted him, “You don’t have to feel guilty. This isn’t your fault. It’s because I was too conspicuous in the capital that the Hongying Society took revenge.”
“If the Queen holds anyone accountable, it will be me alone.”
Zhou Hong smiled bitterly, “Brother Lu, don’t joke. How could the Queen blame you?”
Lu paused, “What’s my relation to her? Why wouldn’t she blame me?”
Zhou Hong suddenly realized he almost let something slip!
He quickly covered, “I meant you’re an extraordinary envoy in Y6. The Queen wouldn’t blame you for such a minor matter.”
Though his explanation was timely, Lu still sensed there was more behind his words.
Just like when he had asked Wu Qing before—deliberately vague.
Forget it, better not ask.
Since Bar 66 was lost, Lu suggested Zhou Hong find another location to set up a new base.
After finishing their late-night meal, Lu paid the bill and sent Guo Kun a bonus of one million!
His underlings each got five hundred thousand.
Back when Guo Kun was a naive fool willing to work for Chen Liang over a thousand yuan, this sum was a fortune to him.
He and his brothers were overwhelmed with gratitude, thanking Lu profusely, “Thank you, Big Brother!”
Lu smiled, “I wanted to give more, but all the money is managed by my wife. This is all I could secretly spare.”
Guo Kun grinned, “This is plenty. It’s enough for me to buy a new house back home.”
Lu smiled, “After today, I’m sure you all realize Zhou’s and my identities are rather special. Staying with us might be dangerous.”
“If you want to retire after getting this money, you’re free to leave. Zhou and I will understand.”
“If you want to stay, you can continue working with Zhou. He’ll treat you well.”
Guo Kun and his brothers exchanged looks, then resolutely said in unison, “Big Brother, we’re not leaving!”
“Good.”
Zhou Hong told Guo Kun to bring the car, and they all headed to the suburbs.
He had a safe house there for temporary refuge.
Lu returned to the hotel; Su Qianqian was already asleep.
He quietly took a shower, then curled up with his wife to sleep.
...
The next day.
When Lu opened his eyes, Su Qianqian was still asleep.
He logged into Y6’s intranet on his phone to check the latest news on the Hongying Society.
He found a pinned announcement.
Title: “All-Out War on the Hongying Society!”
The announcement briefly described the ordeal at Bar 66 the previous night. Y6 headquarters deemed this blatant provocation and declaration of war.
Thus, Y6 officially declared war on the Hongying Society.
This was exactly the outcome Lu had been anticipating.
After Bar 66 was destroyed last night, the capital remained calm.
But across the globe in the North American sector, chaos erupted!
Due to the time difference.
When Bar 66 was attacked, it was daytime in North America.
Y6’s North American branch launched a fierce assault on the Hongying Society’s major strongholds.
With ample intelligence, Y6 was well aware of the Society’s movements.
The first to be hit was the United States, the birthplace of the Hongying Society, where 23 large bases were utterly destroyed by Y6 elites.
However, this major offensive also revealed many of Y6’s secrets.
The Hongying Society quickly organized a counterattack, destroying three of Y6’s communication points.
Thus, the rivalry between the two spy organizations escalated from covert clashes to intense direct confrontation.
Lu couldn’t help but smile.
Fight it out. The fiercer the better!
Those big fish lurking in the shadows will have to surface sooner or later.
Ding!
You’ve received a new message.
Queen: “Now Y6 and the Hongying Society are at war. Are you satisfied, kid?”
Society Lu: “What? You guys started fighting?”
Society Lu: “I just woke up and knew nothing!”
Queen: “Trying to fool me?”
Society Lu: “Haha, nothing escapes you.”
Queen: “The big fish in the Hongying Society will soon surface. Are you ready?”
Society Lu: “You’re not mad I dragged Y6 into this?”
The Queen didn’t reply but logged off immediately.
Lu was a bit puzzled.
Just as Zhou Hong said, the Queen showed no blame toward him.
What exactly is she after?
Su Qianqian woke leisurely and saw Lu frowning in thought beside her.
Yawning, she asked, “What are you thinking about so early?”
Lu snapped back and smiled, “Thinking about what to have for breakfast. The capital’s food really doesn’t suit my taste.”
Su Qianqian smiled gently, “Once I finish things today, we can return to Mingzhu City.”
Lu was stunned, “So soon?”
His mission in the capital wasn’t finished yet...
Su Qianqian said, “Xiao Bai’s buildings are all topped out. She can handle the renovations alone. We’ve been here over a week, and the Yi Ren Group has lots of matters waiting for me back home.”
Lu said, “Then I probably won’t have time to accompany you to the construction site today…”
Su Qianqian understood and nodded, smiling, “Yes, today you have free time. Tomorrow you’ll come home with me.”
