Boom—boom, boom—boom!
Thunderclaps sounded across the ground, and the remaining excavators—another dozen or so—started up at once. Their rotating tracks rolled in together, charging to crush Su Qianqian and Lu Ye.

The hydraulic units purred with a “gu-gu,” and the mechanical arms swung in quick, predatory arcs.

Bang! Bang! Bang!
The excavators closed in for close combat.

Under Lu Ye’s command, Su Qianqian met them without panic, guiding her machine forward with calm precision.

Crash!
Her boom sliced down in a diagonal strike, snapping the opponent’s hydraulic strut clean off.
Golden-yellow engine oil sprayed out in a burst, coating the other driver’s windshield in a blinding haze.

While the other side was effectively blinded, Su Qianqian lifted her arm again and flipped their excavator backward in a full, devastating arc.

At that moment, another machine lunged in from the side.
Before Lu Ye could even speak, she reversed one track and then the other in a flash, spinning her cab ninety degrees to face the ambusher head-on.

With a firm push on the joystick, she drove the demolition head at the tip of her arm straight onto the other excavator’s track.

Dun-dun-dun—a rapid chain of impacts. The high-frequency chiseling tore through the enemy track and snapped it apart, leaving the machine limp.

Lu Ye laughed, “Beautiful.”

Two more excavators now came in from behind.
Su Qianqian shifted her tracks and dodged sideways. They crashed straight into the already disabled ally machine, and after metal limbs and casings collided and buckled, the three machines became wedged together, jammed so tight they could not separate, unable to move at all.

So Su Qianqian struck back once more.
She poured on the throttle and, in one violent surge, flipped all three over.

Thud, thud, thud!
Dust erupted from the site in a yellow storm.
For a moment it was like watching a dozen Transformers go to war.

And without question, Su Qianqian was the brightest goddess of this battlefield.
It was as though what she was driving was no ordinary excavator, but an ultimate-form Decepticon.

At that moment, Xu Zhaocai felt his heart bleed.
Those machines had come from his own crew—each one worth millions.
And they were ruined in a handful of blows.

Wasn’t it painful enough?

“Stop! Don’t fight anymore!”
“Stop! Stop it, stop now!”

Xu Zhaocai was almost crying.

But Su Qianqian was in the middle of her high, and no one could pull her down.
Could you tell her to stop now?

Her hands only grew hotter and surer—like a Lanxiang campus belle going one against ten, never losing an inch.

Thunk, thud, thunk...

The remaining excavators were overturned one after another. She even made sure they lay so neatly that they did not block the site gate, leaving a clear path.

At last, black smoke rose over the pit.
The ground was strewn with the wreckage of machines, and only the excavator Su Qianqian controlled still stood proudly among them.

Back on her feet, she planted her hands on her waist and laughed up at the sky. “Ha-ha-ha! Is there anyone left? Doesn’t anyone here dare?”

Bai Wen and Fei Hong’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “Wow, Qianqian, you drive that machine like a dream!”

Even the workers of Yiren Group were clapping and cheering. “Boss Su is awesome!”

Xu Zhaocai’s dark face twisted. Through clenched teeth he snarled, “You all—pay me for my excavators!”

Lu Ye pointed to the warning sign by the gate and read aloud:
“Xu Ershao, unauthorized personnel are prohibited from entering this site; all consequences are your responsibility. Do you understand?”

Xu Zhaocai barked, “I understand. And then?”

Lu Ye replied with iron calm, “You were warned twice—how can I compensate even your whole mother for this?”
“Move your scrap iron out right now. Don’t leave it here to block construction, or I’ll tear you apart as well.”

Xu sneered, “Don’t forget this is Shangjing!”

“I have a hundred ways to get you, little beast. And you can’t do a thing about it!”

A sharp slap crackled through the air. Su Qianqian had done it.
“Try insulting my husband once more and see what happens.” Her eyes widened, fierce with protective fury.

“You filthy slut, you dare hit me?” he spat.

Another slap, this time from Lu Ye. “Try calling my wife an insult and see what happens?”

Xu covered his face, then turned to the men he’d brought. “You pigs—just standing here while I’m getting beaten?”

“Go!” they rushed in.

Then, all at once, the thugs surged forward.
Lu Ye suddenly turned his back to them.

In an almost bored tone he let out a breath. “I’m too tired to put on any more acts. Anyway, with that old woman here, there’s no way this turns into a brawl.”

Su Qianqian stepped back in alarm and cried out to him, “You little—”

He barely had time to turn.
A steel bar slammed down on Lu Ye’s head, and from the force it bent into a smooth arc along his skull.

“Clang!”

The man wielding it yanked his hand back in pain. “Damn, that skull is so hard my hand went numb!”

Lu Ye, stunned, muttered, “Damn, that spell really failed?”

Su Qianqian rushed forward and touched his head anxiously. “Are you alright?”

He smiled. “I’m fine. My mother brewed me herbs in the old way when I was a kid and built me bones like rebar.”

“Wife, back away.”
He turned back toward the assailants, eager now. “Come on, now I can finally show what I can do.”

The thugs charged again, and Lu Ye stepped forward, stance planted like the star pattern beneath his feet, ready to strike.

“Stop!”

A new voice cut through.
Several police officers in sky-blue uniforms walked into the site and called, “What’s going on here? Are you fighting?”

Lu Ye froze for a beat. “Damn, and I didn’t even get to start it!”

“Was that one blow just wasted on my head?”

Behind him, Su Qianqian giggled, “A spell may be late, but it never fails to show.”

At that instant Xu Zhaocai seemed to find his savior. He wailed, “Officer, you have to do justice for me!”

“They smashed a dozen-plus excavators. You can see—right there—they did all this!”

He pointed at the wreckage spread across the ground.

The lead officer drew in a sharp breath. “This is intentional damage to another’s property. With this many excavators destroyed, the amount involved is in the tens of millions.”

He turned to Lu Ye and gestured sharply. “Take this man. Open a case.”

Su Qianqian hurriedly explained, “They drove those machines in first and caused trouble in our site. We were in self-defense.”

The lead officer looked at her. “Miss, this isn’t something you decide. The law decides what counts as self-defense.”

To avoid pulling Su Qianqian deeper into it, Lu stepped forward. “Comrade, take me. I did it alone.”

Xu shouted from the side, “Officer, his wife was involved too. You can’t let her off.”

Thunk!
Lu kicked Xu away with a single step. Xu flew a long distance and fainted on the spot.

The officers all frowned. “Hey—while we’re standing here, you still dare to hit someone?”

The next moment, Lu gave a crooked, pleading smile. “Sorry—sorry. He slandered my wife, and I couldn’t hold back.”

“So does your wife have anything to do with this?” the officer asked.

Lu pointed at Su Qianqian. “Comrade, do you think my wife is pretty?”

The officers exchanged glances and answered honestly, “She is pretty.”

Lu kept talking. “A girl as beautiful as this one—do you think she’s the type to run a battlefield of excavators and brawl?”

They nodded slowly. “Not really.”

Lu laughed heartily. “Then it’s settled. She’s innocent in this matter. It was all my doing. Just take me.”

The officers gave a brief smile. “All right, you’re not as bad as you look.”

Click!
The cold steel handcuffs closed around Lu Ye’s wrists. They put him in the patrol car and drove off.

As the vehicle roared away, Su Qianqian stood frozen. “My husband’s been taken. What am I supposed to do now?”

Bai Wen blinked once, then slapped his own thigh and said, “Call Xiao Qiu. Xiao Qiu can definitely get him out.”
