When He Zheyu’s phone alarm rang, Mo Qinghan was the first to wake from her dreams. Still drowsy, she gazed at the phone ringing on the nightstand, fumbled for it a few times before grabbing it, silenced the alarm, and placed it back. She yawned, then lay back down on her side, turning her back to He Zheyu as she tried to gather her thoughts. Perhaps the alarm had woken He Zheyu as well, for he shifted forward, and with a gentle tug of the arm draped over her waist, he pulled Mo Qinghan into his embrace. Mo Qinghan lifted her head slightly, resting it on He Zheyu’s arm, still with her back to him.

He Zheyu nestled his head against the crook of Mo Qinghan’s neck, his restless lips moving along her skin, his warm breath tickling her until she felt a delightful shiver. Embarrassed, she murmured, “He Zheyu, can you not…” But before she could finish, He Zheyu’s deep voice slipped into her ear, “Aren’t you enjoying this too?” As his hand under the covers prepared to do more, Mo Qinghan immediately broke free from his arms. In a flash, she jumped out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and scurried to the bedroom door. Leaning against the doorframe, her face flushed, she poked her head back inside and said, “It’s my dangerous days right now, and you never use protection. I’m still young, not ready to be a mother. If you need something, find your own way.” She stuck out her tongue in an adorable, playful gesture and disappeared into the bathroom.

Lying in bed, He Zheyu was utterly impressed by Mo Qinghan’s astonishing escape skills. Before he could recover, the beauty in his arms had vanished without a trace. Yet, she was right—she was indeed not ready to become a mother, especially at this moment in her life. Because of what Mo Qinghan said, He Zheyu sat up in bed, frowning in thought for a long while.

When Mo Qinghan, now tidied up, was about to leave with her bag, He Zheyu hugged her from behind, his voice gentle as he said, “If it really happens by accident, let’s keep the baby.”

These words made Mo Qinghan’s heart tighten with a complex mix of emotions—she didn’t know whether to feel happy or not. Her expression was calmer than ever before. After a moment of silence, she replied, “If that’s what you want, then I’ll do as you say.” At her words, He Zheyu kissed her softly on the cheek and said, “Come with me! I’m going to your school today.”

“For what?”

“To give a speech. You didn’t know?”

All school events were announced on the campus website, but Mo Qinghan, who had been staying at the apartment lately, hadn’t logged in at all and naturally had no idea about He Zheyu’s upcoming speech at her school.

Turned around by He Zheyu, Mo Qinghan looked at him with an awkward expression and admitted, “I haven’t checked the school notices lately.” Then, her face clouded over with worry as she looked at He Zheyu, her voice trembling as she pleaded, “Promise me, no matter what rumors you hear at school, you won’t lose your temper…”

Seeing her like this, He Zheyu curled his lips into a slight smile, crossed his arms over his chest, and said sternly, “Girl, have you been stirring up quite a few admirers at school?”

At that moment, Mo Qinghan looked exactly like a child caught misbehaving. Under He Zheyu’s cold gaze, her nerves frazzled, she blurted out, “Your future brother-in-law said he wants to steal me back from you.”
