“This sort of thing is far too easy to draw associations from. No, something this important must be reported to our superiors immediately, or the consequences could be severe.” With that thought, the officer hurriedly took out his satellite phone and dialed a number.

“As for the golden-ranked Three-eyed Demon Ape, its whereabouts are unknown. There’s a good chance it was taken by that powerful warrior. According to Gao Gen and Wang Qian, they’ve seen that person before. They said the warrior claimed to be from Yaoguang City!”
“So, we suspect this matter is related to that individual.”

A heavy silence fell on the other end of the phone. After a moment, a slow voice replied, “From now on, do not act without permission. We’re not sure if this warrior’s intentions are friendly or not, so proceed with caution.”
“I’ll inform our superiors and request support. If you spot that warrior, try to follow him, but don’t get too close. Warriors of that caliber have excellent counter-surveillance skills.”
“We understand!”
“Good luck to you all.”
As soon as the words were spoken, the line went dead.
“Our superiors want us to act cautiously. It’s best if we stay put and wait for reinforcements,” the officer relayed the message to his companions.
One of his partners said, “Since that’s the order, let’s wait here. It’s safer that way.”
Wang Qian frowned and said, “Gao Gen, let’s keep going.”
“Alright.” Gao Gen didn’t hesitate.
“Didn’t you hear what I just said? Our superiors told us to stay here and wait,” the officer reprimanded, stepping forward.
Wang Qian sneered, “Kid, before you speak to others in that tone, consider your own strength. Do you really think you’re qualified to talk to me that way?”
“Wang Qian, don’t be so arrogant,” the officer replied, his voice quivering with fear yet trying to sound brave. “Your actions could get all of us killed!”
“Don’t think you can shout at me just because you’re with the police. You’re only a trainee, and even if you were a full officer, I wouldn’t be afraid! Besides, that’s your superior, not ours. We’re not with the police!”
“If you’re so keen to obey orders, do it yourself. Just don’t get in the way of our class-change mission, or you might end up missing an arm or a leg.”
The trainee officer bristled at Wang Qian’s threats and was about to make a move, but his partner immediately held him back.
“Don’t act rashly.”
“We’re no match for them.”
Wang Qian grinned, “See how sensible your companion is? Just stay here. Gao Gen, let’s go.”
With that, the two of them walked away.
“Wang Qian, you should keep a lower profile. Even if they’re just trainees, they’re still part of the police system. Aren’t you afraid they’ll cause trouble for you later?” Gao Gen advised.
“Cause trouble?” Wang Qian scoffed. “What’s that to me? I’m not from their Misty Cloud City. What, are they going to put a wanted notice on me? Are you scared?”
Gao Gen shrugged. “Why would I be? As it happens, I’m not from their city, either. It doesn’t matter. They’re not going to pick a fight with us, two third-tier warriors, just for the sake of a couple of trainees.”
“Exactly. Let’s keep moving. Maybe we’ll find Brother Chong and the others.”
“It’s our only option for now.”

At this moment, Lin Han was darting through the forest, now less than a hundred meters away from Du Wanting.
Suddenly, Lin Han stopped in his tracks, turning a calm gaze on the Three-eyed Demon Ape.
He had already resumed High Chong’s appearance.

“Good thing I held back, or I really might have killed this brute.” Seeing that the ape’s life was not in immediate danger, Lin Han relaxed. He hefted the massive body as if lifting a baby and carried it back along the path.
Du Wanting was still resting, oblivious to what had just happened.
“Du Wanting, wake up! Look what I found out here!” Lin Han called.
Du Wanting rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked, “What did you find? Is there a beast pack coming?”
“No, I found a weakened Three-eyed Demon Ape!” Lin Han replied, excitement in his voice.
Du Wanting blinked in surprise. “Where? Where is it?”
Lin Han pointed into the forest. “Right over there. Not sure what kind of injury it suffered, but it can’t even stand. Your hidden quest is to slay a Three-eyed Demon Ape, right? This is the perfect chance. And as it happens, my task is to help you kill a Three-eyed Demon Ape.”
“I’ve already checked—it really is a genuine golden-ranked Three-eyed Demon Ape. So, you don’t need to worry about anything else.”
“Are you sure?” Du Wanting still found it hard to believe. It was her first time doing a quest, and this was almost too lucky.
“Of course. As soon as I found it, I came straight back for you. I think you need to deliver the finishing blow for your quest, right? Come with me. The sooner we deal with it, the sooner we’ll complete the mission.”
