Chapter 51: Danger Approaches!
“We’re already pretty deep in here. Stay alert—there might be gold-tier monsters around, so don’t get distracted,” Lin Han reminded her. At that moment, his God’s Eye was running at full capacity. Even though his strength was more than enough to sweep through this area, caution was always his first priority when undertaking such things.
What if some truly absurd creature appeared?
“Gold-tier monsters?” Du Wanting’s voice quivered with fear. She couldn’t even handle silver-tier monsters yet, let alone gold-tier ones. She’d never heard anyone talk about facing creatures like these before.
How could she possibly not be scared?!
“Boss, you can handle it, right?” Du Wanting asked carefully, quickly adding, “It’s not that I don’t trust you, I just worry that if we end up fighting, I might distract you. Should I run a little farther away then?”
“No need. Being close to me is the safest place,” Lin Han replied as he reached out and pulled Du Wanting behind him.
Du Wanting ducked behind Lin Han, whispering, “Boss, is there really a gold-tier monster coming?”
“Don’t stray too far from me,” Lin Han warned. As he spoke, a giant gorilla, over three meters tall, emerged from the depths.
“What is that?!” Du Wanting’s eyes widened in terror. It was the first time she’d seen something so horrifying. The gorilla, towering over three meters, made them look like ants before its massive bulk. Each of its footsteps made the ground tremble, and its savage face was twisted with ferocity. Its fangs were bared, streaked with traces of dried blood.
“A gold-tier Bloodthirsty Gorilla,” Lin Han explained briefly before focusing his attention ahead.
Though it wasn’t a threat to him, his surroundings were crawling with other creatures, the weakest of which were silver-tier. Under these circumstances, he couldn’t possibly use Forbidden Spells. After all, Du Wanting was right beside him. If he unleashed a Forbidden Spell, his identity might be exposed.
Times had changed—now, just checking someone’s basic information online or via a phone could reveal all sorts of details about him. If only there was a memory-altering Forbidden Spell, it would be easier, but unfortunately, there wasn’t.
“Du Wanting, listen carefully. I’ll only say this once: don’t stray too far from me, or I won’t be able to protect you,” Lin Han said in a cold, emotionless tone.
Hearing this, Du Wanting realized things were far more serious than she’d imagined. She nodded so vigorously it was almost comical and said, “Don’t worry, even if you tell me to die, I won’t leave your side.”
“That’s good…”
As they spoke, the Bloodthirsty Gorilla charged toward them.
“What a nuisance,” Lin Han muttered with a wry smile. He strode forward and slammed his fist into the gorilla’s abdomen so quickly that Du Wanting beside him didn’t even see him move.
Even after Lin Han had already leapt three meters away, she was still frozen in place.
“Boss, wait for me!” Du Wanting hurried to catch up, while the giant gorilla, stunned and pained, collapsed to its knees from the blow to its stomach.
Lin Han then vaulted onto its shoulder and, with a single knife-hand strike, split its head open.
[Congratulations, Host, you have slain Level 34 Bloodthirsty Gorilla. Experience gained: +45,682.]
“That’s it? It’s dead already?” Du Wanting stared at Lin Han atop the gorilla’s corpse, utterly stunned. This was well beyond anything she could comprehend.
He’d disposed of a gold-tier Bloodthirsty Gorilla in just two moves?
“Stay close to me!” Lin Han commanded, leaping down from the gorilla’s body. Ahead, a wolf pack was charging from the forest.
“Red-Eyed Star Wolf Pack!” Du Wanting gasped. She recognized this species—rumor had it that in the Diamond Forest, there was a pack of Red-Eyed Star Wolves, the weakest of which were silver-tier, and their king was gold-tier.
Just their luck to run into them now!
Remembering Lin Han’s warning, Du Wanting clung tightly to his side, not daring to stray a single step.
This was like walking straight into a den of wolves!
Lin Han scanned the pack and instantly located the wolf king.
The wolves surged forward, but Lin Han waded into their midst, fists flying as he slaughtered his way through. Du Wanting trailed beside him like a decorative attachment.
Such a battle meant nothing to Lin Han; with his strength, weaving through these monsters was child’s play. Besides, his martial training left him far from weak in close combat.
Soon, Lin Han reached the wolf king. With a single punch, the force of his blow caused a sonic boom in the air before it struck the wolf king head-on.
The wolf was knocked into the air and hung upside down from a tree, not even realizing how it had been struck, now barely clinging to life.
Seeing their leader so brutally beaten, the rest of the wolf pack scattered instantly. The other monsters, witnessing this, fled as well—after all, with two of their own already tested and defeated, none were foolish enough to sacrifice themselves.
“Boss, you’re unbelievable,” Du Wanting breathed, now feeling a little sorry for the two monsters. Of all the people they could have provoked, they had to choose him.
One took two punches, the other just one. Who could they complain to?
In her mind, Lin Han was definitely a warrior—a fighter with terrifying strength and physical prowess.
“Go ahead, finish that wolf off. Weren’t you here to level up?” Lin Han had already worked out his plan—he’d let her have this experience out of goodwill.
Besides, he was nearly at level twenty, and there were plenty more gold-tier monsters in the Diamond Forest, so there was no rush.
“Are you sure?” Du Wanting was overwhelmed—this was a gold-tier monster, which meant a huge amount of experience! She hadn’t expected Lin Han to be so generous.
“Hurry up. It won’t last much longer. For someone at my level, the experience is negligible—don’t worry about me.”
Hearing this, Du Wanting wasted no more time and stepped forward to finish off the Red-Eyed Star Wolf.
With the experience gained, she officially reached level ten. Now, she only needed to complete her class advancement quest to become a second-tier fighter—a significant step ahead of ordinary people.
“Wait… Boss, the Red-Eyed Star Wolf dropped some equipment. Let me check—Star Wolf Fang Necklace!”
“That’s gold-tier gear! It should be worth quite a bit!”
