Lin Han was at home watching television, and was just seeing the news that the Imperial Capital’s investigation team had arrived in Huiyue City. When he saw the information about each member, he couldn’t help but smile wryly. They’d actually dispatched such a formidable lineup just for him.

A level seventy-six mage! That was something Lin Han wouldn't have dared to even imagine in the past, yet now these monsters were here for him. Lin Han was well aware that he needed to keep a low profile for a while; if one of those monsters really started watching him, things could become troublesome. Although he could cast forbidden spells, he couldn’t be sure others wouldn’t do the same. That was a level seventy-six hidden profession’s Heaven-Shaking Grand Magic—their strength was certainly nothing to scoff at.

After all, he’d never truly faced such high-level experts before, and couldn’t say for certain he’d be able to win, so it would be wiser to wait until his third advancement before taking any risks.

While Lin Han pondered this, his phone suddenly rang.

“Mr. Lin, first of all, congratulations on achieving first place in the entrance examination. Please forgive me for not knowing you were participating at the time, so I didn’t attend to watch.” Manager Liu’s voice came from the other end.

The news of the entrance exam had spread far and wide, so it was no surprise Manager Liu knew about it. Since Lin Han hadn’t disguised himself when visiting the trading market, he wasn’t concerned about his identity being discovered. There was simply no need to deliberately conceal it.

“Manager Liu, you didn’t call just to say that, did you? What’s the matter? Want to give me a legendary piece of equipment as a gift?” Lin Han joked.

Manager Liu laughed, “You’re teasing me, Mr. Lin. The two legendary items I have were sold to me by you, after all. But the call isn’t just about that.”

As Lin Han wondered what business this man could have with him, Manager Liu continued, “There’s news about the Cataclysm.”

Lin Han immediately stood up from his bed and asked, “Are you sure? You’re not lying to me?”

“Why would I lie?” Manager Liu chuckled at Lin Han’s reaction, then said, “It’s not that I doubt you, Mr. Lin, but with your strength, obtaining the Cataclysm Source is nearly impossible. Even supreme experts don’t dare enter the Cataclysm carelessly, so please think carefully.”

Lin Han replied calmly, “I have my own methods, Manager Liu, so you needn’t worry. Just tell me the news about the Cataclysm Source.”

“Since you’ve made up your mind, I won’t try to persuade you,” Manager Liu said helplessly. “This Cataclysm is an earthquake, and according to intelligence from our front-line experts, it’s brewing in a place called Misty Cloud City.”

“Is the information reliable?” Lin Han asked coolly.

After all, discovering a Cataclysm wasn’t easy.

“It is. I’m certain,” Manager Liu said firmly. “That expert’s words are trustworthy—his abilities are directly related to this.”

“I can’t share more details,” he added. “I have to protect the seller’s basic information, so I hope you understand.”

Lin Han understood; Manager Liu had always protected his information. Otherwise, he would have become the target of everyone in an instant. To be able to produce so many legendary items at once was no small feat.

“Send the exact location to my phone. I’ll prepare and set out soon,” Lin Han said simply, as he’d already given Manager Liu the equipment required as payment. There was nothing more to discuss.

“You really are in a hurry, Mr. Lin,” Manager Liu said with a smile. “I’ll send the information to your phone shortly. Do you need any equipment for this trip? I can prepare some in advance.”

“No need,” Lin Han replied. “I’ll come sell equipment at your place when I return.”

Hearing this, Manager Liu broke into a broad smile. “Then I’ll be waiting for your triumphant return, Mr. Lin.”

With that, Lin Han hung up.

“Mr. Lin really is impossible to read,” Manager Liu murmured, sitting in his armchair and lighting a cigar.

Just then, the phone rang again.

When he answered, a roaring voice greeted him, “Old Liu, it was you who gave Lin Han that pass, wasn’t it?”

Manager Liu laughed, “Old Tian, don’t get so worked up. What’s the matter? Speak slowly.”

“Don’t try to dodge the question! Who exactly is Lin Han?” demanded the caller—Boss Tian from the trial grounds.

“Didn’t you watch TV yesterday? This year’s top scholar, Old Tian. Times are changing—you need to start watching more TV.”

“You think I don’t know Lin Han is this year’s top scholar?” Boss Tian said irritably. “If it was just his strength, you wouldn’t have given him a silver pass—there must be another reason.”

“Old Tian, calm down a bit,” Manager Liu said, exhaling a smoke ring. “Has anything happened with Mr. Lin at your place? If there’s any damage, tell me and I’ll compensate.”

Boss Tian replied seriously, “According to my investigation, Lin Han’s family is just an ordinary working-class household. Knowing you, Manager Liu, you wouldn’t do a losing deal. What’s so special about this kid?”

“If I told you I’m simply interested in Mr. Lin, would you believe it?” Manager Liu said mildly.

“Don’t talk nonsense—I know what you’re like,” Boss Tian retorted. “Lin Han is just a second-advanced priest. Rare, yes, but only rare. He broke the record at our ancient battleground, even triggered the hidden boss. That’s pretty exaggerated, and winning the entrance exam this time makes me suspect his real strength is much higher than what we’ve seen.”

The two men fell silent at that.

After a moment, Manager Liu spoke slowly, “Old Tian, there are things I won’t say much about, but given our years of friendship, I’ll give you one piece of advice.”

“Don’t investigate Mr. Lin’s background any further. His foundation is something neither of us has ever seen in our lives. And what does his real strength have to do with us?”

“For the two of us, Mr. Lin may well be the benefactor who could change our lives.”

“Even if you discover something or see through anything, learn to keep your mouth shut.”

“People like Mr. Lin don’t like others knowing too much.”

“I’m telling you this out of friendship—more than that, I won’t say.”
