Chapter 20: Second Ascension, The Scepter Priest!
“Mr. Lin certainly has remarkable luck.”
The young receptionist smiled, her fondness for Lin Han evident. Naturally, she hoped he would succeed in his quest and was genuinely happy for him upon seeing his swift progress.
“Since you’ve met the requirements, please follow me. We’ll proceed to the depths of the Temple of Advancement for your class change.”
Guided by the receptionist, Lin Han entered a chamber deep within the Hall of Advancement.
“Please go in, Mr. Lin.”
Following her instructions, Lin Han stepped into the heart of the temple. He placed the necessary Elemental Source and Apostle’s Heart before him, and starlight enveloped his form. As time passed, Lin Han’s body underwent a dramatic transformation.
[Name]: Lin Han
[Class]: Scepter Priest
[Level]: Second-tier, Level 10 (Class change requirement for Elemental Source unmet, unable to amplify)
[Vitality]: 3,000,000
[Agility]: 1,000,000
[Magic]: 1,500,000
[Endurance]: 3,000,000
[Strength]: 3,000,000
[Magic Suppression]: Unique talent, can suppress magical elements within a 500-kilometer radius, converting them to personal magical power!
[Guardian Angel]: Life magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the Goddess of Life to automatically revive a portion of fallen allies; mechanical, elemental, and undead creatures cannot be revived!
[Undead Resurrection]: Death magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the God of Death to summon demon-type creatures; after victory in battle, convert 30% of slain enemy creatures into undead allies (excluding non-living enemy units, such as mechanical, elemental, and undead creatures)!
[Corruption Intervention]: Order magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the Goddess of Corruption to inflict two negative statuses; can accept enemy surrender without their consent, at a rate of 15%!
[Chaos Domain]: Chaos magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the God of Chaos to summon a domain; allies gain two buffs, and randomly unleash forbidden spells such as Ice Burst, Chain Lightning, Meteor Shatter, Apocalypse Judgment!
[Song of Holy Light]: Chant the Hymn of the God of Holy Light to release a holy light aura, reducing damage taken by allies within the aura by ten percent.
[Song of Black Mist]: Chant the Hymn of the God of Black Mist to release a black mist aura, granting allies within the aura temporary invisibility.
Seeing his transformed status panel, Lin Han felt a surge of joy.
His attributes had reached a staggering level; now, even a fully defending ultimate-level expert might not withstand a single punch from him.
And the two new initial skills!
Both were healing types!
Even after reaching the second-tier and becoming a Scepter Priest, he could not escape the classification as a healing class.
“System, amplify everything ten thousandfold.”
Lin Han spoke calmly.
[Ten-thousandfold amplification successful. Please check.]
Lin Han checked his skill panel again.
[Blessing of Light]: Light magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the God of Light to summon a domain; allies’ damage taken reduced by fifty percent, host’s damage taken reduced by eighty percent.
[Night Veil]: Darkness magic, forbidden spell level, chant the Hymn of the God of Night Veil to summon a domain; allies enter a state of complete invisibility, masking all presence.
Terrifying!
Lin Han’s heart trembled.
He hadn’t expected these forbidden-level innate skills to achieve such astonishing effects.
Compared to the initial skills of the Priest of Life, the Scepter Priest’s initial skills offered much greater utility.
After the ten-thousandfold amplification, they were nearly monstrous.
After familiarizing himself with the skills, Lin Han exited the hall.
“Judging by your expression, Mr. Lin, your second-tier advancement must have been a resounding success,” the receptionist said gently.
Lin Han nodded, replying,
“It went well enough, though who knows when I’ll be able to reach the third tier.”
The receptionist understood how harsh the requirements for a Priest’s advancement were; after reaching the second-tier, progressing to the third would require two sources of Calamity—a rare commodity impossible to obtain easily.
“You will definitely succeed, Mr. Lin,” she reassured him.
“Since you’ve completed your second-tier advancement, please follow me for registration. Everyone who successfully advances needs to record their basic information.”
“Alright.”
Lin Han followed the receptionist and quickly completed the registration. By then, the Hall of Advancement had grown lively.
“Have you heard? Director Sun just returned from the underground city, bringing back lots of wounded. The hospital in Glimmermoon City is overflowing now.”
“What happened?”
“I heard from unofficial sources that a supreme-level expert used a forbidden spell to destroy the entire underground city. Not many died, but most were injured.”
“A supreme-level expert? Was it an enemy attack?”
“That’s unclear. Who knows, maybe the last great tsunami was also caused by this supreme-level expert. With all this chaos in Glimmermoon City, their intentions can’t be good.”
“But that’s a supreme-level expert—can we even defend against them?”
...
Lin Han was somewhat at a loss. Clearly, this public outcry was greater than before, but who could have guessed the cause was himself—the newly advanced Scepter Priest?
Even if Lin Han went out and shouted that he was responsible, people would only take him for a fool.
Suddenly, the hall’s broadcast echoed through the room.
“Breaking news, breaking news.”
“Recently, a supreme-level expert has appeared in Glimmermoon City. According to the latest regulations from the Security Department, all professionals are forbidden from leaving the city, forbidden from leaving the city!”
“Soon, an investigation team led by imperial supreme-level experts will arrive in Glimmermoon City. Citizens are urged to remain calm.”
“The restriction on leaving the city is to prevent anyone from unwittingly entering a supreme-level expert’s combat zone.”
“Things will be tense for a while; please remain rational.”
No leaving the city?
Lin Han felt helpless. If so, how could he level up and prepare for his third-tier advancement?
But thinking it through, this was simply the consequence of his own actions; it had little to do with others.
The rest of the crowd was abuzz. They didn’t care about leveling up outside the city—they just found the situation entertaining.
“Did you hear? The authorities have confirmed it: a supreme-level expert is present. Looks like we might witness a supreme-level battle near Glimmermoon City anytime!”
“That’s thrilling! If I could witness it, I’d regret nothing in this life!”
“That’s a supreme-level expert! I want to see what kind of earth-shattering power such a figure can unleash.”
