Chapter 17 The Underground City Is About to Be Destroyed!
Lin Han slowly walked to a spot not far from the group. The bald man was now hopelessly trapped, facing a coordinated attack from several second-tier powerhouses, powerless to resist.
Yet none of them had realized he’d been manipulating events from the shadows. This was the advantage of casting without chanting—just a thought in his mind, and the power was his to wield.
“How about it? The gift I sent you wasn’t bad, was it?” Lin Han spoke suddenly.
The bald man, pinned beneath the others, was filled with despair. When he saw Lin Han approach unscathed, his expression twisted even more.
“It was you… You did this. When did you buy them off?”
“No need to say it so harshly.” Lin Han sat on a nearby rock, smiling. “Did it occur to you I might have taken control of them all?”
“From the very beginning, you were caught in my web—every step, you followed my plan. Though I admit, there was one thing I didn’t expect.”
“Your intelligence is disappointingly low.”
Listening to Lin Han, the bald man could hardly believe it. The state of the others made it clear—they’d lost their minds, as if possessed.
It was him!
The bald man couldn’t accept it. The person before him was just a level 10 first-tier Life Priest—how could he possibly achieve this?
“Never mind, since you’re as good as dead, I might as well let you witness the power of a forbidden spell.”
Lin Han rose and stretched his waist.
Forbidden spell?!
Even as he suffered under the others’ assault, the bald man forgot his pain and stared fixedly at Lin Han.
[Domain of Chaos]
Lin Han thought silently.
Suddenly, countless bolts of lightning erupted from the earth!
In an instant, the entire abyss was engulfed in violent chaos!
The bald man, seeing this, collapsed completely.
Forbidden spell!
This was unmistakably a forbidden spell!
“How is this possible, who are you really…”
Before the bald man could finish, bolts of lightning surged from beneath the group, blasting all the mercenaries away.
“Pathetic,” Lin Han said indifferently. “With brains and strength like that, they try to be bandits.”
Gradually, lightning bombarded the abyss. The power was so overwhelming that the abyss itself could not withstand the onslaught and began to crumble.
But the collapse of the abyss was only the beginning!
Elsewhere, unbeknownst to Lin Han, the entire underground city began to collapse…
Huīyuè City Detection Center!
“Boss, something’s wrong! There’s trouble in the underground city!”
Hearing this, Sun Hu rushed to the machines. After the last incident, the words 'trouble' had become deeply etched in his mind.
“What the hell now?!”
Sun Hu stared at the energy readings on the screen, which had shot into the red, and felt a wave of frustration.
Just days ago, the Wall of Life had been destroyed. Repairs were only just beginning, and now another problem had arisen.
“Boss, according to the landmark readings, the underground city has likely descended into chaos. The energy is so intense it might cause a total collapse.”
The technician made his assessment immediately.
“The underground city is going to collapse?”
Sun Hu was surprised. The underground city was one of Huīyuè City’s hottest industries, with a large population of professionals inside.
If it collapsed, the casualties would be tremendous.
“That’s right. The energy fluctuations are enough to bring down the entire city.”
“And this energy is no weaker than the last one. I suspect a Supreme powerhouse is present.”
Hearing this, Sun Hu slammed his fist on the console, cursing.
“These Supreme powerhouses must be bored out of their minds—why do they insist on causing chaos in Huīyuè City? Last time, the tsunami nearly destroyed the city, and now they’re wreaking havoc underground.”
“They obviously have no respect for us.”
“Get me the phone. Call the mayor!”
A phone was quickly brought over, and Sun Hu snatched it up, dialing immediately.
“Hello, this is the mayor.”
Sun Hu quickly and respectfully replied, “Mayor, this is Sun Hu, head of the Detection Department.”
“Ah, Sun Hu, what’s the matter?”
Hearing Sun Hu’s voice, the mayor’s tone softened. He liked Sun Hu, who had served Huīyuè City diligently since his appointment. The mayor was especially pleased by his recent achievements in defending the city.
“Mayor, there’s trouble. Someone is wreaking havoc in the underground city. Judging by the energy, I estimate their strength is at least Supreme.”
“The city is on the verge of collapse—it could happen at any moment.”
The mayor, previously mild, paused and grew much more serious. “The underground city might collapse?”
Sun Hu hurried to respond, “Yes. There are many professionals in the underground city. If it collapses, the casualties will be catastrophic.”
“For Huīyuè City, this would be a devastating blow. Only second-tier professionals are capable of undertaking tasks and training there.”
“And those second-tier powerhouses are vital to our city’s future—we cannot afford to lose them.”
The mayor solemnly said, “Director Sun, please lead your department to the underground city for immediate rescue.”
“Mayor, our department is short-handed,” Sun Hu continued. “Please grant me authorization to mobilize personnel from other departments.”
“Granted,” the mayor replied simply. “Ensure the safety of the professionals. The future of Huīyuè City is in your hands.”
“Understood!” Sun Hu responded, then listened as the mayor hung up.
“Gather the team! To the underground city!”
…
At that moment, the mayor set down the phone and called out, “Xiao Li, come in.”
The secretary entered and asked, “Mayor, what are your instructions?”
“Notify all senior officials. Tell them Huīyuè City faces a major crisis, and they must come to the city conference center as soon as they receive the message.”
The secretary was momentarily stunned—this was the first time he’d seen the mayor so grave. He asked in confusion, “Mayor, what has happened?”
“The underground city is about to collapse.”
Hearing this, the secretary froze, then rushed out to notify the others.
The mayor calmly lit a cigarette, his gaze cold. “Who has set their sights on Huīyuè City, stirring trouble time and again? Do they really think they can disregard us so completely?”
