Chapter 158: Yuansi? Roommate!
"I didn't expect someone from a major family like you to be so amiable," Lin Han remarked with a sigh.
Of course, Lin Han wouldn't change his entire outlook on families based solely on Gongsun Lianxi’s words, but based on his current behavior, he was already far superior to the typical scions of prestigious clans.
As for Ma Tianxing, he was simply the most foolish among all the family heirs. Most of the ones he had encountered before were as cunning as foxes. Whenever they sensed a force that could potentially threaten their family or themselves, they would immediately retreat to a safe distance.
According to news reports following that incident, Ma Tianxing had been crippled and would never be able to cultivate again. The Ma family had temporarily suppressed the news, though it wasn't hard to guess that they were likely intimidated by the Saint-tier powerhouse persona Lin Han had put on at the time.
Hearing Lin Han's comment, Gongsun Lianxi replied, "Not everyone in the major families is arrogant and domineering. There are plenty of steady, level-headed people among us; otherwise, the Five Great Families wouldn't have survived and thrived until now."
Lin Han nodded and said, "That’s true. If everyone were arrogant and domineering, the family wealth would have been squandered by these reckless descendants long ago."
Just as they were chatting, the door was knocked open, and someone called out, "Hello everyone, I’m your roommate. My name is Yuan Si, a Level 1 Gold-rank Shadow Assassin."
Yuan Si?
Lin Han subconsciously thought he had misheard. He hadn't seen this kid in over a month; they hadn't been in touch since they finished the dungeon last time... mainly because they didn't even have each other's contact information!
When Lin Han looked over, he froze. Yuan Si! It really was Yuan Si!
"Lin Han?!"
Yuan Si was clearly surprised as well and quickly asked, "Didn't you say no academy would take you? How are you here? Did you know I was in this dorm and come specifically to see me off?"
This kid...
Lin Han helplessly pulled his admission letter from his clothes and said, "They held a special trial for me later on, so I came. What? Not happy to see me?"
"Happy! Of course I'm happy! Lin Han, if the two of us are in the same dorm, we’ll be the kings of the dormitory. From now on, every other dorm will have to bow down to us when they see us." Yuan Si rushed forward, wanting to embrace Lin Han. After the two trials they had shared, their bond had become very deep.
Others might not know how strong Lin Han was, but he was well aware. Even in this university, Lin Han’s strength was enough to hold his ground for quite some time. At the very least, could there be any other freshman stronger than him?
He certainly didn't believe so.
"What did you call me?" Lin Han pushed Yuan Si away, giving him a strange look.
"Lin Han?"
Lin Han punched him on the shoulder. "Did you forget what you said in the dungeon?"
"Brother Han, Brother Han, I was just teasing you." Yuan Si crouched to the side, clutching his head. This violent monster—he had used so much force in that punch!
"That’s better. Come on, get up." Lin Han smiled and helped Yuan Si up. Suddenly, he felt a bit disappointed. As expected, he still preferred the rebellious, untamed version of him from before.
"Brother Han, I didn't expect us to be assigned to the same dorm. It really is fate," Yuan Si said as he put his luggage to the side.
"A Gold-rank Assassin?" Gongsun Lianxi asked from the side.
Yuan Si became alert, looking him up and down before asking, "Why?"
"Nothing. We’re all roommates now. I’m Gongsun Lianxi, a Silver-rank Spearman, and he is Teng Xinqi, a Silver-rank Lightning Mage," Gongsun Lianxi introduced himself simply.
Yuan Si realized these were his future roommates. He had been so excited to see Lin Han that he hadn't noticed the others. "Nice to meet you."
Gongsun Lianxi remarked, "Reaching Gold-rank Assassin at such a young age—you’re likely among the top-tier of the freshmen. I never expected to have two Third-Turn experts in our room. It’s quite a surprise."
Hearing this, Yuan Si said proudly, "Of course. But I owe a lot to Brother Han; otherwise, I wouldn't have reached this level."
"Lin Han took you through dungeons?" The two were surprised. A priest class leading an assassin through dungeons was beyond their comprehension.
"It wasn't exactly 'leading' per se, we were coordinating with each other... Yes, that’s it, coordination!" Yuan Si said earnestly.
Lin Han felt a bit helpless. The situation back then was clearly him clearing the dungeon while Yuan Si just took the beating. However, he had no intention of exposing Yuan Si. After all, he couldn't show too much of his own strength, and having a shield like Yuan Si was a good thing.
"It seems the rumors about Lin Han being a 'Violent Priest' are mostly true. I was a bit skeptical before," Gongsun Lianxi nodded. He turned to Yuan Si and added, "I’m from the Gongsun family. Are you interested in joining us? The benefits are excellent, and we can definitely satisfy your daily needs."
"Our Gongsun family values top-tier students like you. Would you consider it?"
Yuan Si looked at Lin Han and whispered, "Brother Han, did you join?"
Lin Han shook his head. "I'm not interested. It's easier being on my own."
"Then I won't join either. We brothers stand together!" Yuan Si patted his chest, looking ready to share in any hardship.
This caught Lin Han by surprise. It seemed that after the last incident, Yuan Si had truly committed to following him. But that was fine; Yuan Si had decent strength and awareness, and having someone like him around made things more secure. Perhaps in the future, he could become a great asset.
Gongsun Lianxi said helplessly, "I never expected to face a rejection so soon."
Teng Xinqi laughed, "It's fine, there are plenty of other talents out there. The Gongsun family will have plenty of other opportunities."
At this moment, Yuan Si suddenly asked, "Lin Han, I think I saw Sister Rui Xin earlier. Is she a student at this school too?"
"You must have seen wrong," Lin Han said simply. He didn't want to expose too much information. He couldn't let it be known that he was acquainted with Fei Hua, or the major families would easily track the connection back to him.
"Saw wrong?" Yuan Si recalled the person's appearance carefully. "Hmm, you're right, she looked a bit different, and the person I saw was shorter. I guess I really did see wrong."
Gongsun Lianxi interjected, "It’s almost noon. Since it's our first time meeting, shall we go grab a bite together? My treat, how about it?"
"Let's go!" Teng Xinqi was the first to agree.
Yuan Si asked, "Brother Han, are we going?"
"We're going. Definitely! Only a fool would turn down a free meal!"
