Chapter 155: Changqi Academy, School Begins!
When they appeared again, a massive stone monolith came into view, engraved with the four large characters: Changqi Academy.
The destination had been reached.
"Is this Changqi Academy?"
Lin Han looked at his surroundings. Many new students were bustling about, their faces alight with excitement. The gate alone was staggering; compared to the high school he had attended before, this was on an entirely different scale. He could even sense that the ambient mana fluctuations were far denser here.
As he walked out of the teleportation array, a tall girl approached him.
"Are you a new student?"
"Yes," Lin Han replied, dazed. The woman before him had an incredibly striking figure and a delicate, oval face that radiated youthfulness. In his mind, she was a match even for Senior Feihua.
"I am a third-year student, Feng Yunxin. Let me take you to the registration area for new students," Feng Yunxin said, maintaining a warm and approachable smile.
"All right, thank you, Senior."
Lin Han agreed; having someone to guide him was exactly what he wanted.
"Where are you from?" Feng Yunxin asked.
"Huiyue City."
"You're from Huiyue City?" Feng Yunxin’s expression turned to one of surprise. She continued, "Then do you know about Lin Han, the one reporting from Huiyue City this year? You aren't him, are you?"
"That seems unlikely. Looking at your sturdy build, you must be a Warrior, right?"
"Something like that," Lin Han said sheepishly. When had he become so famous? Had the news of a third-turn Priest really spread across the entire world?
"Exactly. I heard that Lin Han person is a devil who can kill a man with a single punch. I don't know if it's true." Feng Yunxin laughed. "But we should be able to see him at the freshman welcome assembly in a few days. He is currently all the rage; he will probably be the center of attention."
"Is he really that popular?" Lin Han said, feeling somewhat helpless.
"Of course," Feng Yunxin explained. "I heard that because of him, the deans of all five major academies went to Huiyue City just to recruit him. He is the world's first third-turn Priest, so he naturally receives some preferential treatment."
"Still, he was sensible enough to choose our Changqi Academy in the end."
Lin Han said, feeling a bit awkward, "It sounds like he really is quite a big deal."
"Junior, let me tell you, that is all in the past. Once you step through the gates of Changqi Academy, everyone has greater opportunities ahead, and the academy won't care about past achievements."
"So as long as you work hard, Junior, you will definitely be able to surpass him in fame and even strength," Feng Yunxin said gently.
"Okay."
"This is it. Take out your admission letter."
The two arrived at a table where several people were sitting.
"Yunxin, why did you go to pick up students yourself?" one of the male students asked at that moment.
Feng Yunxin's expression turned cold instantly. "What business is it of yours where I go to pick people up?"
"Don't be so cold," the male student said with a chuckle. "I'm just concerned for you. What if a tiring chore like this exhausts you? You should just rest here; let them handle these things."
At that, the men sitting beside him stood up immediately and said, "Sister-in-law Yunxin, you sit here. Leave the menial labor of welcoming freshmen to us!"
"Not necessary," Feng Yunxin said coldly, her tone tinged with irritation. "Zhang Jianan, I will remind you one more time: there is nothing between us. Do not let them call me sister-in-law, or don't blame me for being impolite."
"Impolite? And how exactly would you be impolite?" Zhang Jianan asked with a bright smile.
"Senior, here is my admission letter." Lin Han handed it over.
"Kid, can't you see our boss is busy flirting with his lady? Wait your turn; why are you so oblivious?" his lackeys said with menacing expressions.
Lin Han watched calmly. An ordinary person might have been terrified by now, but he had stood alone against supreme-level experts; such petty posturing didn't even register in his eyes.
Zhang Jianan took the admission letter and said with a smile, "Don't talk to our Junior like that. If you scare him, can you take responsibility?"
As he spoke, Zhang Jianan opened the letter and muttered to himself, "Huiyue City, Lin Han, third-turn Priest..."
"Lin Han?"
"You are Lin Han!"
All eyes instantly converged on him. They were quite interested in this freshman who had been the talk of the town lately.
"So you really are Lin Han!" Feng Yunxin covered her mouth in disbelief.
Lin Han spread his hands and said helplessly, "I told you just a moment ago, didn't I?"
"Senior, can you process my registration now?"
"Sure." Zhang Jianan handed the letter to one of his lackeys and ordered, "Register him."
After saying that, he looked at Lin Han and asked, "Junior Lin Han, are you interested in joining our club?"
"Not interested."
Lin Han didn't even ask what the club did; he rejected the offer decisively. He detested this person from the bottom of his heart; the man gave off a nauseating vibe.
"Junior Lin Han, you've just arrived at Changqi Academy and naturally don't know the rules. It isn't as peaceful as you imagine. Joining a club gives you a patron, which is a pretty good deal for a freshman," Zhang Jianan said.
"Not interested."
Lin Han repeated himself, then looked to the side and asked, "Is the registration done?"
"Good..."
Before the lackey could finish, Zhang Jianan snatched the admission letter back and threatened, "Junior, if you don't show some proper attitude today, the gates of this academy aren't something you can just walk through whenever you please."
"Zhang Jianan, what are you doing!" Feng Yunxin exclaimed. "Aren't you afraid the dean will blame you for this?"
"Afraid? What is there to be afraid of? In Hangyun City, who doesn't give my Zhang family some face? As long as you agree to my request, Yunxin, I'll let this kid go. How about that?" Zhang Jianan smiled with a sinister expression.
Hearing this, Lin Han was speechless.
Is this guy mentally unstable? He’s talking as if he’s important to Feng Yunxin. We only just met and haven't even exchanged more than a few sentences. Is this guy really that jealous?
"Senior Zhang Jianan?" Lin Han sneered. "I suggest you put that admission letter back in my hand, or I’m not sure what I might do."
