Chapter 154: Preparing for the New Term, Then Leaving!
One month later.
Lin Han lay at home, appearing as though nothing were amiss. A month had passed since the great battle, and during this time, he had occasionally cleared a few dungeons, bringing his strength to Gold Level 5.
Suddenly, he rolled off the bed. He had an appointment to meet Wang Qiang today. After heading out, he arrived at their agreed-upon location, where Wang Qiang and Liu Yunyun had already been waiting for some time.
"Hanzi, you finally made it!" Wang Qiang greeted him warmly. Liu Yunyun also stood up; following the recent events, their relationship had blossomed rapidly, and they had since made it official.
Lin Han smiled and said, "Sorry, I’m late."
"It’s fine, it’s fine! Sit down, Brother Han, we only just arrived ourselves," Liu Yunyun added.
"Are you two preparing to leave?" Lin Han asked as he sat down and poured himself a glass of water.
"Yes," Wang Qiang replied. "We’ve scheduled the transport array for this evening, so we wanted to see you one last time before we head out."
"So early?" Lin Han asked, puzzled. There were still a few days left before the start of the semester, as all five major academies shared the same opening date. His own admission letter from Changqi Academy stated that classes began in three days, so he wasn't in a rush to leave just yet. He planned to head out the day before, and with his portable transport array, it wouldn't take much time at all.
Wang Qiang scratched his head and said, "Jiuyun Academy and Qingyun Academy are both located in Jinhua City, so we decided to go a few days early to enjoy ourselves. Who knows how busy we’ll be once classes actually start?"
"That makes sense," Lin Han nodded. The five major academies were distributed across three cities: Changqi Academy was in Hangyun City, Jiuyun and Qingyun Academies were in Jinhua City, and Shenmeng and Liyun Academies were in Deyun City.
"Hanzi, Hangyun City and Jinhua City are quite far apart. Once we reach our respective academies, we won't be able to see each other as often. Honestly, I’m a bit reluctant to part ways," Wang Qiang said with a hint of melancholy. He and Lin Han had been friends since childhood, and this was the first time they would be living so far away from each other.
Lin Han replied, "Qiangzi, our separation is only temporary. Once you get to Jiuyun Academy, take care of yourself. I’ll be waiting for the day you reach the pinnacle. And don’t forget what you promised—you still owe me some leveling help!"
Wang Qiang blinked, then laughed as he patted his chest. "Don't worry! Once I’ve made a name for myself, I’ll never forget you, brother. Everything I’ve achieved so far is thanks to you anyway."
"Most of it was your own hard work," Lin Han countered, shaking his head. "You and Yunyun have both reached the Third Transition, right?"
The two nodded in unison. "Thanks to you, or we never would have reached the Third Transition so quickly."
"Now that you’ve succeeded, you should be able to secure more resources once you reach the academy. After all, there aren't many students who hit the Third Transition before the semester even begins," Liu Yunyun noted.
Lin Han said, "Work hard when you get there. If you ever need anything from me, just ask. I’ll do whatever I can to help."
"Same goes for you," Wang Qiang said earnestly. "If there’s anything we can do to help, just let us know. We’ll give it our all."
"Deal," Lin Han agreed readily.
"Brother Han, why isn't Sister Rui Xin here today?" Liu Yunyun asked curiously.
"Her? She’s gone." Lin Han thought of the figure of Senior Feihua. He hadn't seen her since their parting a month ago. Online, all information regarding Senior Feihua had ceased after that conflict with the Ma family.
"I’m so sorry, Brother Han," Liu Yunyun realized she had asked the wrong thing and quickly apologized.
"It’s fine," Lin Han smiled. "There will be plenty of opportunities to meet again in the future. Don't worry about it."
At that moment, Wang Qiang raised his glass. "Let’s drink to our future!"
The three clinked glasses and finished their drinks. They spent the rest of the day laughing and chatting until nightfall. Lin Han walked them to the transport array and watched them depart.
Looking into the night, the events of the past month felt like a dream: awakening the system, cleansing the land with forbidden spells, provoking the five great families, and clashing with a Supreme-tier expert. Any one of those things would have been earth-shattering, yet they had all occurred in a single month.
Suddenly, Lin Han thought of Manager Liu. Since he was leaving soon, he decided he should go and bid him farewell. With that thought, he pulled out his portable transport array, set his coordinates, and vanished from the spot.
Upon arriving at the Millennium Commercial Capital trading market, he navigated the familiar path to the VIP hall. However, Manager Liu did not come out to greet him this time. Instead, he was met by the person who had received him on his very first visit.
"Mr. Lin, it’s been a long time."
"It’s you. Where is Manager Liu? I haven't seen him at all," Lin Han asked, confused.
"Manager Liu is no longer here. I am the manager now."
Lin Han was stunned. Manager Liu had left?
"I don't know the specifics, only that Manager Liu was transferred elsewhere. Before he left, he handed the position over to me. Oh, and he asked me to pass a message to you, should you ever visit again."
"What is it?" Lin Han asked.
"We shall meet again in the future."
"Meet again?" Lin Han shook his head helplessly. If he had his way, he’d prefer never to see that mysterious old fox again; in some ways, he was even more dangerous than the Ma family.
Having failed to see the manager, Lin Han returned home. With the start of the semester approaching, he realized he would soon be leaving the city where he had lived for nearly twenty years. He felt a pang of reluctance.
Over this period, he had found reasonable channels to gift his parents several million. He had also left the millions in cash he had exchanged through Manager Liu under their bed, in case the family ever faced any hardships. With everything at home settled, Lin Han could finally leave with peace of mind.
Three days later, after a simple farewell to his parents, Lin Han took out the portable transport array and adjusted the coordinates.
Hangyun City, Changqi Academy!
This was one of the five major academies that countless people dreamed of. Starting today, he was ready to enjoy his life as a university student.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Han pressed the confirmation button and instantly vanished from his room.
