Chapter 102: You Really Are Wealthy!
“Senior, you know me?” Lin Han was a bit surprised.
“Of course,” Fei Hua replied with a helpless expression. “News about you has been flooding the internet lately—it’s hard not to know about you.”
“The world’s first to claim the top spot with a milk-type profession, the first ever triple-evolved Sacrificial Priest—such honors are already remarkable.”
“No wonder you want to invite me to protect you.”
Lin Han explained, “There’s no other way. So much has happened recently, and today I’ve gotten myself into serious trouble. I have to pay attention to my own safety.”
Of course, Lin Han wasn’t really afraid of those powerful families coming to pick a fight. Even against a Supreme-level expert, he could hold his own. Only, if a real battle broke out, his ability to use forbidden spells would inevitably be exposed.
If that fact became public, the whole world would be watching—and then the troubles would truly be endless.
So if he could spend money to hire someone to fend off disaster, why not?
Fei Hua regarded Lin Han curiously. “You really are interesting. Achieving a triple evolution as a Sacrificial Priest requires three sources of calamity. I can’t imagine how you managed it. I looked into your background when I saw the news—you come from an ordinary family. By rights, you shouldn’t have so much money.”
“Would you like to know, Senior?” Lin Han asked tentatively.
Fei Hua, walking ahead, replied lightly, “Don’t worry, I’m just curious. I have no interest in your little secrets. If you want to share, I’ll listen; if not, I won’t force you.”
“Everyone has their secrets, right?”
Lin Han laughed. “You really are open-minded, Senior. If it were someone else, they might have pinned me down and interrogated me already.”
“Relax, I’m not that sort of person. You are indeed extraordinarily gifted—almost no one else gets as far as you on the priestly path.”
“But you forget, I’m a genius too,” Fei Hua said proudly.
“How could I compare to you, Senior? Your future is surely bright—the youngest Assassin God in the world.” Lin Han couldn’t help but praise her.
To break through to the Supreme realm in your twenties—such talent is rare even among those nurtured by the great families.
And yet, this carefree woman before him had accomplished just that.
“If I were one of those higher-ups, honestly, I’d want to capture you for research. But perhaps they’re wary that you have a powerful mentor behind you, so they dare not make any rash moves.”
Fei Hua continued, “Or maybe they all want to see if you, as a Sacrificial Priest, can reach new heights.”
Lin Han said resignedly, “I’m just a commoner, nothing worth studying. If I were a higher-up, I’d want to study you instead, Senior. With so little in the way of resources, you still managed to succeed.”
“Hmph, they’d have to be capable enough to catch me first,” Fei Hua said with disdain. “I’m the Assassin God—if I want to escape, few at my level could catch me.”
“Senior, do you know how to use forbidden spells?”
“No…” Fei Hua rolled her eyes, as if he’d touched a sore spot.
“Why? I heard all Supreme-level experts can use forbidden spells.”
Lin Han asked, puzzled.
“Kid, do you think forbidden spells are cabbages? Just because you say you can use one doesn’t mean you can.”
Fei Hua explained, “Normally, after reaching the Supreme realm, you can awaken a forbidden spell at random, but there are exceptions.”
“If you don’t get one at the Supreme level, you’ll awaken an extra forbidden spell at the Saint level. I’m that exception.”
“Of course, Supreme-level bodies and mana are strong enough to cast forbidden spells—but I don’t have money to buy one…”
Lin Han exclaimed, “You can buy forbidden spells?”
“Of course.” Fei Hua showed a look of frustration. “There are skill books at the forbidden level, even ultra-forbidden ones. I just haven’t seen one myself. Those wicked capitalists buy up forbidden spells and set outrageous prices.”
“They never consider whether I can afford them!”
“So, it’s because I lack money that I don’t have a forbidden spell.”
“I see.” Lin Han was suddenly enlightened. Maybe, if he could find some high-level skill books, he might be able to get an ultra-forbidden spell someday.
“But now that you’re paying me half a billion, I can finally consider buying some cultivation resources,” Fei Hua said cheerfully.
“Little boss, when will you advance me some salary? Just a deposit of two hundred million will do. The remaining balance, you can pay me in a month—if you’re still alive.”
Seeing Fei Hua’s money-grubbing look, Lin Han was speechless.
…She really does live up to her title as the Assassin God.
“Go ask Manager Liu. Just have him deduct it from my account directly.”
Fei Hua, hearing the answer she wanted, responded with excitement. “Thanks, little boss. But I’m curious about something.”
“Go ahead.”
“What’s your relationship with Manager Liu? Why does he look after you so well?”
“As far as I know, Manager Liu is very cold. Outside of business, he’s not interested in anything.”
“He even sought me out to protect you.”
“That’s not normal. Come on, is there some secret between you two? Are you two…”
Lin Han, seeing Fei Hua’s gossipy expression, hurried to explain, “Don’t jump to conclusions. Manager Liu and I are innocent—it’s definitely not what you think.”
“Why so anxious? I haven’t said anything yet.” Fei Hua grinned wickedly. “Well now, I didn’t expect you to be into that. Don’t worry, I’m always discreet; I won’t spread your little secrets.”
“Senior, do you find it amusing to tease me?” Lin Han was a little helpless.
Fei Hua replied easily, “Joking now and then is good for your health. Don’t be so serious all the time—it’s not a virtue. What matters most in life is to begin anew.”
“You’re right, Senior.”
Lin Han wiped cold sweat from his brow, suddenly feeling like he’d forgotten something.
“Senior, when we parted ways with the Ma family, did we forget something?”
“You mean the person you disguised as is still lying in the alley?”
“You knew?”
“Of course. He should still be there. Don’t worry, he won’t die. The weather’s so warm, even if he stays another day it’s no problem.”
“When he wakes up tomorrow morning, he’ll find his way home…”
