The Top Male Lead Who Hates Eating (Final)
The system’s voice carried a sense of frailty. "I’m sorry, Father, I can’t activate the attack mechanism against the male lead. I—I can’t shock him. Poor little bun. You, you need to run, quickly. He isn’t Xie Yu anymore, he isn’t even Xiu; he really will kill you."
The system’s voice grew fainter. Si Jiu’s heart sank.
Xie Yu walked out of the bedroom. His eyes flickered between struggle and vacancy, his expression a mix of contradiction and agony. Yet, Si Jiu stood rooted to the spot, not moving.
"Xie Yu has gone too far," the system said. "He took a new, unapproved drug to try and kill the personality within him. This second personality is no longer the one you recognized. Xiu will never regain consciousness. Please, run!"
Si Jiu stood still. "What is there for me to run from? At worst, I’ll just fake my death and exit the mission."
"Oh, right..." the system replied. "Then what the hell was the point of me spending all my performance points to possess a steamed bun and getting beaten up for it?!"
Qi Yan: "No."
Si Jiu had no time to appease the wind that had suddenly turned violent around her. She spoke to the system again: "Xie Yu’s main storyline wasn’t supposed to go this way, was it? If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have ended up like this, and his second personality wouldn’t have even emerged."
The system fell silent.
"Although I don’t feel I should bear the responsibility, I actually quite like him," she whispered. "But I have to apologize to you, my son; the client satisfaction and performance ratings are likely going to disappoint you again. Also, thank you for protecting me earlier. That must have hurt."
The system let out a soft, whimpering sound.
Si Jiu walked toward the balcony. The frantic wind tried to block her path, but it could not stop her; it only whipped her hair into a frenzy.
"Xiu," she beckoned to Xie Yu, a cold smile blooming on her lips. "Come here."
Xie Yu’s eyes brightened, and he stepped toward her, inch by inch. Soon, she was standing right at the edge of the balcony.
"If I go with you, will you be willing to disappear?"
He nodded, his fanatical expression and persistent gaze making everything clear.
"Since that’s the case... you must keep your word. Otherwise, I will be angry."
As she finished speaking, Si Jiu stepped onto the railing and leaned backward. The moment she lost her footing, she saw Xie Yu’s expression shift in terror. Suddenly, she felt a tight grip on her hand; her body hung suspended in mid-air.
Si Jiu looked up, tracing the arm that had caught her, and saw Xie Yu’s face, etched with shock and fury.
"Wan... Wan..."
"A-Yu," she smiled, a hint of warmth returning to her tone. "Actually, you were wrong."
"Don't talk! Just hold onto me!"
"We met very early on," she said, a trace of regret in her expression. Finally, she admitted, "If I had known you would be this much trouble... I wouldn't have bothered with you."
"Xu Weiwan! Shut up!"
She reached out and pried Xie Yu’s fingers off her one by one.
Xie Yu’s pupils contracted violently. "No..."
The last finger was pried away, and her body plummeted. The wind swirled around her, but it could not catch her. She seemed to hear Qi Yan’s roar.
*I’m sorry, Qi Yan. I’ll wait for you to find me. If you can even find me at all.*
At the same time, Xie Yu’s figure leaped down after her. He caught up to her falling speed, grabbed her arm, and pulled her into his embrace to shield her.
The system, which was just about to initiate the plane extraction, went silent.
Si Jiu thought: *Forget it...*
A deafening "thud" jolted the sleeping city awake. The man held the woman tightly in his arms as they fell from the height, the ground below becoming a gruesome scene of splattered blood. His eyes remained open, reflecting only a deep, intense crimson.
A few seconds later, his eyes slowly closed.
The entire plane began to twist and collapse at an incredible speed.
