Chapter 3: The Server’s First Kill!
Han Xing had played this game before. Although not for long, he knew what his advantage was.
That advantage was the SSS-grade talent he activated upon entering the game: God-level Craftsman!
This talent guaranteed that whenever he crafted task items, he would never fail, and there was a high chance of producing items of even higher quality.
In this game, as long as one possessed the blueprint, personal profession equipment could be crafted by oneself.
In other words, Han Xing could now create equipment of better quality than what the system gifted him!
When Han Xing chose the Hunter profession, two equipment blueprints were automatically recorded: the Wooden Longbow and Wooden Arrows.
"The Wooden Longbow requires logs and beast tendons as materials; I don’t have those now."
"However, making wooden arrows is relatively simple—just some twigs."
With that in mind, Han Xing glanced at the berry tree behind him.
He broke off more than a dozen twigs from the tree.
[Obtained Twigs*17.]
After the system prompt ended, Han Xing took a deep breath and clicked 'Craft All.'
Progress bars appeared before his eyes, and about one arrow was crafted every second.
A white light flashed repeatedly as arrow after arrow appeared before him.
[Sharpened Arrows (White)*17: Quality – Excellent, Attack Power: 2–3, Special Effect – Sharp.]
[Sharp: When attacking, there is a higher chance to pierce through the target’s body, inflicting a grievous wound status.]
Although still white-grade equipment, the attack power had improved significantly, and more importantly, there was a special effect!
It was worth noting that even for green-grade equipment, the chance of special effects appearing was extremely low.
Now, the simple twigs he had casually picked from the tree, enhanced by the ‘God-level Craftsman’ talent, had turned into rare special-effect equipment!
No wonder the SSS-grade talent was truly terrifying!
Han Xing picked up one wooden arrow; its tip was polished to a smooth gleam, as if it had been finely honed.
One quiver could hold up to thirty arrows, and if he could obtain space-type items later, he would be able to carry much more.
After loading all seventeen newly crafted arrows into the quiver, the weight at his waist gave him a new sense of confidence.
He fixed his gaze on a cluster of clouds emitting a faint green glow not far away.
After advancing for more than ten minutes, the sky gradually darkened.
Han Xing looked up at the sky and curiously wondered, "Is there day and night here as well?"
Shaking his head to dismiss the thought for now, he focused all his attention on the cloud ahead.
When he approached within less than a meter of the cloud, the system prompted:
“There seems to be an active, invisible elemental force inside. Would you like to enter?”
Han Xing took a deep breath, drew a sharpened arrow from the quiver, nocked it on the bow, and pulled the string taut.
The bowstring stretched to its full length; Han Xing was ready to attack.
He clicked to enter.
The cloud dispersed, revealing a slime before him—its body translucent, spherical, bouncing up and down.
[Slime (One-Star Creature)]
[Level: 1]
[Strength: 6, Agility: 3, Spirit: 4, Constitution: 5]
[Skill: Spit.]
Swish!
At the sight of the slime, Han Xing immediately released his arrow.
The wooden arrow sliced through the air with a tearing sound, piercing sharply into the jelly-like body of the slime.
Startled by the sudden attack, the slime jumped several meters high.
Without hesitation, Han Xing fired a second arrow, hitting the enemy precisely.
After taking two consecutive hits, the slime finally reacted.
It appeared furious, opening its mouth as an invisible elemental force began to gather inside.
However, before it could launch its attack,
the third arrow was already on its way.
Pfft!
This arrow seemed to trigger a special effect; the sharpened wooden arrow penetrated the slime’s body with lingering momentum.
This was the ‘Sharp’ effect of the sharpened wooden arrow!
The elemental attack the slime was preparing froze midair as its body began to tremble uncontrollably.
With a sudden pop, the slime’s body exploded, transparent mucus scattering like fireworks.
Han Xing instinctively took two steps back, still flicking a glob of sticky liquid in his hand; some of the slime’s goo even splattered onto his face.
“Ugh! What is this disgusting stuff!”
No sooner had he spoken than a system message appeared before his eyes.
[Successfully killed Slime Lv1; your level has increased.]
[Current Level Lv1.]
Before Han Xing could react further, a cold system announcement sounded in his ear.
“Announcement: The first player to kill a sky-island monster in this area has appeared. Regional channel activated.”
“According to the region, every ten thousand players are assigned to the same area. Current players may communicate, trade, and gain more survival opportunities through the regional channel.”
Opening his panel, Han Xing discovered he had been assigned to Area 107 channel.
However, just as he was about to enter the regional channel, the system voice sounded again.
“As the first player in this area to kill a sky-island monster, you have received the first-kill reward: 50 Spirit Cores, 1 Space Backpack (White), and 1 Space Backpack Blueprint (White).”
[Space Backpack (White): Quality – Common, Storage Space +20, Special Effect – None.]
“I’m awesome! It’s a space-type item!” Han Xing couldn’t help but exclaim.
Testing the twenty-slot storage, he found that thirty arrows only filled one slot.
In other words, if he filled it entirely with arrows, he could carry six hundred arrows on him!
But that wasn’t the most crucial part; the most important thing was that he now had the blueprint to craft space backpacks.
[Space Backpack Blueprint (White)]
[Crafting Requirements: One One-Star Beast Hide, 10 Spirit Cores, 20 Ether]
[Crafting Success Rate: 20% (boosted to 100% by God-level Craftsman talent)]
“As expected, the success rate is still 100%!”
“Doesn’t this mean I can mass-produce space backpacks and trade them with other players?”
Space backpacks were extremely valuable; even after playing on his phone for so long, Han Xing had never encountered more than one.
If such items appeared in the trading channel, they would surely trigger a frenzy among players!
But he also knew this wasn’t the right time yet.
At the early stage of the game, the scarcest resources for everyone were food and water.
Even if space backpacks appeared, players couldn’t afford them.
Han Xing entered the Area 107 channel; a system prompt appeared.
[Would you like to use the default name ‘Han Xing’ to enter the regional channel?]
“No.”
Han Xing immediately declined and changed his name in the channel’s personal information to “Star River.”
The regional channel had just opened, and the chat section was already flooded with thousands of messages—this was Area 107, where tens of thousands of humans sent messages!
