Chapter 16: Actually, I Like Men
Zhao Zhen frowned and turned his head to glance outside the Yinghe Pavilion.
At the gate, two men, one old and one young, were slowly walking in.
The older man needed no introduction—it was Wang Yaozu, the master of Li Muxuan.
As for the other, he appeared quite ordinary, dressed in simple cloth clothes, with short hair and a somewhat lazy gaze, looking like a man who had never cultivated Qi.
But the moment Zhao Zhen saw him, his pupils suddenly constricted sharply.
The leader of the Quansheng Sect—Wu Gensheng! The very man who single-handedly triggered the infamous Jiashen Rebellion in later generations!
“Heh, never thought there’d be so many little brats here,” Wang Yaozu said, scanning the crowd inside Yinghe Pavilion before settling his gaze on Li Muxuan ahead.
“Little guy, how’s it going? No one giving you trouble, right?”
“What are you here for?” Li Muxuan frowned.
“Heh, foolish kid, if I don’t show up, you’d better believe you’d be carried out of this pavilion sideways today.”
Wang Yaozu then glanced at Zhao Zhen standing nearby.
“Oh, you’re here too. I’ve heard quite a bit about your visits to the major sects over the years. Not bad, you haven’t shamed your master.”
Zhao Zhen took a deep breath, withdrew his gaze from Wu Gensheng, and smiled slightly at Wang Yaozu.
“Thank you for your praise, Elder Wang. But since the Quansheng Sect has activities today and I am not one of your disciples, I won’t be meddling. I bid you farewell.”
With that, Zhao Zhen intended to leave directly.
Now that even a ‘menace’ like Wu Gensheng had appeared, this place had become a hotspot for trouble. It was better to leave early.
Thinking this, Zhao Zhen quickened his pace.
Yet just as he was about to step out of the Yinghe Pavilion, an unexpected figure suddenly blocked his path.
“Little brother, don’t rush off. Lend me a hand, will you?”
Zhao Zhen stopped, frowning as he looked at Wu Gensheng standing before him.
“What help?”
“You’re a disciple of the Master, so you probably know the Jin Dun Liuguang technique. Look behind you.”
Zhao Zhen turned to see the righteous young disciples now gathering with hostile expressions.
It made sense—facing the Quansheng Sect leader, these impetuous youths wouldn’t miss such a rare opportunity.
“All this trouble started because of you and that kid, yet you’re just walking away? That’s a bit unfair, don’t you think?”
Wu Gensheng smiled faintly, casually placing a hand on Zhao Zhen’s shoulder.
Zhao Zhen glanced at the hand on his shoulder, his expression calm as he replied:
“This matter was provoked by Li Muxuan; what does it have to do with me? Besides, I’m not even one of your Quansheng disciples. Why should I help you?”
“Since you’re the Master’s disciple, you’re half one of us Quansheng Sect. Come on, I’m the leader here—show me some respect, will you?”
“And if I refuse?”
“Then I’ll make sure you don’t leave.”
Seeing Wu Gensheng’s sly grin, Zhao Zhen suddenly felt the urge to punch him squarely in the face.
But considering Wu Gensheng’s unique ability—Shenming Ling—he immediately dismissed the thought.
Shenming Ling is a power that can dismantle and restore to original form any Qi-based technique, skill, or supernatural ability.
It doesn’t simply disrupt Qi; it deconstructs carefully structured Qi constructs—such as spells, talismans, or magical artifacts—back to their primal state, stripping them of offensive or functional properties.
Even Zhao Zhen’s Jin Dun Liuguang, as mysterious as it was, remained merely a technique.
So if Wu Gensheng wished, from this close distance, he could indeed prevent Zhao Zhen from using Jin Dun Liuguang to escape.
Honestly, Wu Gensheng’s shameless and brazen personality was somewhat unexpected to Zhao Zhen.
Originally, Zhao Zhen thought that since he was not a disciple of Quansheng Sect, Wu Gensheng would ignore him and he could simply leave.
But he never imagined that upon learning he was the Master Jin Guang’s disciple, Wu Gensheng would cling to him like this!
Now, with Wu Gensheng’s hand on his shoulder, even if Zhao Zhen wanted to use Jin Dun Liuguang to slip away, the chance was gone.
Thinking this over, Zhao Zhen slowly said, “Fine, I’ll agree.”
“Oh, I knew you were a reasonable guy. You wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing.”
“I’ll help, but on one condition.”
“What condition?”
“Actually, I don’t like women—I prefer men, especially ones like you, a highly respected figure in the supernatural world.
Quansheng Sect leader—that sounds pretty good. As long as you, the leader, spend one night with me afterward, helping you escape or even joining Quansheng won’t be a problem~”
With that, Zhao Zhen cast a seductive gaze over Wu Gensheng’s body, his hand lightly caressing Wu Gensheng’s firm rear, as if he couldn’t wait to devour him whole.
“W-what?!!!”
Startled by Zhao Zhen’s look and touch, Wu Gensheng instinctively pulled his hand off Zhao Zhen’s shoulder and stepped back as if fearing he’d catch some strange contagion.
Seizing the moment, Zhao Zhen swiftly retreated and, just as he successfully activated Jin Dun Liuguang, flashed a middle finger at Wu Gensheng.
“You think you can threaten me? Dream on!”
With that, a golden light flared, and Zhao Zhen’s figure vanished from everyone’s sight.
Silence fell over the entire scene.
Wu Gensheng stood dumbfounded, staring blankly at the spot where Zhao Zhen had disappeared.
“Hahaha! Leader, oh leader, never thought you’d be outsmarted by a mere brat like this…”
Yuan Jingui was the first to react, bursting into laughter.
Perhaps having also been humiliated by Zhao Zhen before, Yuan Jingui felt immense satisfaction seeing Wu Gensheng’s speechless expression.
“This kid, he really got under his skin…”
Wu Gensheng twisted a corner of his mouth. Though tricked by Zhao Zhen, he wasn’t angry—only an amused gleam flickered in his eyes.
“Sigh, I was hoping with that kid’s Jin Dun Liuguang, we could get out easily. Looks like escaping won’t be so simple after all.”
As he spoke, the righteous disciples stepped forward again.
“A pack of little brats—do you really think I’m afraid of you?”
A fierce light flashed in Wang Yaozu’s eyes as he rolled up his sleeves, ready to strike.
But at that moment, Yuan Jingui suddenly reached out and stopped him.
“Come on, Elder Wang, with the leader here, do we really need to embarrass ourselves? Right, leader?”
Wu Gensheng glanced at Yuan Jingui, knowing well that the “Changming Yegan” likely had no good intentions.
“No choice. Since that kid’s gone, I’ll have to rely on my own methods to get out of this…”
