So inspiring and moving—my fellow reader has become a Level 5 master in fantasy and recommended a book to me!

About three years ago, a fellow writer known as "Invincible Wei Ge" began writing, but as a newcomer, he was inexperienced and hesitant to promote his book title within our writing group. So he reached out to me for a chapter recommendation.

At that time, I was deeply immersed in writing my Three Kingdoms novel, which was unfortunately failing miserably, so I couldn't really promote anyone else's work. I’ve explained before in a chapter that when you’re struggling and down on your luck, it’s awkward to push other books because neither side benefits. Back then, I only promoted one seemingly skilled but shameless author; I politely declined all others.

Three years have passed, and now I’ve started a new book. Over this time, I’ve endured the physical and mental trials of playing “Sheep a Sheep,” faced the abrupt cancellation of several novels, and witnessed the sudden shutdown of several large writer groups. My mindset has settled into a calm, unfazed state, letting things be as they are.

But today, to my surprise, he reached out to me first!

I was incredibly moved! This is a Level 5 fantasy author in the genre! All my struggles these past years—just trying and failing to ascend in fantasy—seem trivial compared to this. Despite opposition from his parents, he abandoned his old account, which had three books, and succeeded with a fresh start!

I owed him a chapter recommendation back then, so now I’m happily returning the favor and promoting Invincible Wei Ge’s current work, “Ancient Immortals Awaken: Ten Thousand Foxes Bow to Me as Master.” It’s a masterpiece with over 100,000 favorites!

Truly inspiring. I’m sincerely touched.

As for myself, I’m 43 years old now. When I first wrote the Three Kingdoms novel at 40, I still held hope to make a breakthrough, but it flopped disastrously. Those interested can look up my initial reflections from the first release. I don’t even check my backend stats anymore.

Yet, I genuinely want to finish a Three Kingdoms story. No matter how badly it flopped or how powerless I felt during the process, I’ve more or less wrapped it up.

My mindset has also opened up: flowers bloom again, but youth never returns. At 43, I can’t keep struggling wildly anymore. So I’ll write what comes most naturally to me—no matter how old-fashioned or out of sync with current trends, it’s better than producing nothing.

So, friends, please don’t worry about me quitting or abandoning my work—I have my Three Kingdoms novel as proof.
