"Cool Guy Coach!"
That is the title this guy gave himself.
Why call him "this guy"? Because Wei Lai simply could not bring himself to show him any respect.
He was an unreliable fellow!
Just like his self-proclaimed title—who on earth calls themselves "Cool Guy"?
Wei Lai really wanted to peel back that veil of fog to take a look; he probably looked like a monster underneath!
After kicking the ball around for a bit, the Cool Guy Coach started packing his bags.
"You're leaving again?" Wei Lai complained. "It’s only been 30 minutes!"
The Cool Guy turned his head. "That’s right, you’ve already wasted 30 minutes of my time. I’m going on a date with Mary. I have no intention of hanging around with a stinky man!"
As a light rain began to fall, Wei Lai watched the Cool Guy walk out of the training ground, left alone to wither in the wind.
Previously, he had met two truly outstanding coaches.
One was Casemiro!
The other was Kante!
Although their styles differed, both were responsible and gentle, which made Wei Lai hold them in high regard.
And then, he had met this... jerk!
A jerk whose head was filled with nothing but women and dates, thinking only with his lower half!
Wei Lai scraped his toe against the turf, unable to stop himself from muttering, "What kind of instructor is this? Jerk! Negative review!"
Ding!
[Negative review effective! Instructor's charm reduced by one.]
Wei Lai was stunned, but a moment later, he saw a figure in the distance sprinting toward him rapidly.
From a tiny speck, the figure grew larger and larger.
Until he rushed right up to his face.
"How dare you leave a negative review?" the Cool Guy Coach roared at Wei Lai.
Wei Lai was taken aback, then felt a surge of annoyance in his heart.
"You haven't taught me anything! I wasted 10 training points for nothing, so why are you yelling at me?"
"Why can't I yell? Does this even need teaching? Isn't ankle flexibility innate? I was born this way; how am I supposed to teach you?"
"You're the instructor! You’re supposed to figure it out; why are you shouting at me?"
"..." The Cool Guy Coach trembled with rage. "Cancel the negative review!"
Wei Lai snorted coldly. "Not a chance!"
"You're really not canceling it?"
"I'm not!"
Wei Lai's stubborn streak had surfaced.
He felt even more miserable inside.
Coach Kante, you’ve set me up!
What kind of idiot is this!
"What will it take for you to cancel it?" the Cool Guy Coach asked.
Wei Lai replied, "Teach me!"
"I don't know how to teach you!" the Cool Guy Coach said, frantic.
Wei Lai persisted, "Find a way, or I won't cancel it!"
"You..." The Cool Guy Coach pointed at Wei Lai, his finger trembling with fury.
After a moment, he suddenly spoke up. "Would you mind changing instructors?"
"Huh?" Wei Lai was stunned.
So, instructors could be changed.
Beckham said, "I'll find someone who can teach you, and then you cancel the negative review!"
Wei Lai blinked. "You... find them first?"
"Wait right there!"
Beckham turned and left. In the blink of an eye, a middle-aged man in a suit walked in, leading the Cool Guy Coach.
The newcomer’s face was also obscured by mist, making his features impossible to discern.
[Would you like to change instructors?]
Wei Lai looked at the unreliable Beckham; surely it couldn't get any worse.
"Change!"
Ding!
[Instructor changed. Course passively upgraded; new course includes and covers the original curriculum.]
Ding!
[Advanced Course: Glory of 1992. Comprehensive professional training, including the flexible ankle module.]
Ding!
[Advanced Course: The Broken Hairdryer. Stage two course. This is a long-term course; the content requires you to make the instructor shut up!]
Wei Lai was still a bit dazed.
At that moment, a deep voice rang out.
"What are you doing?"
It sounded like an engine slowly starting up, as if brewing some kind of violent storm.
The next second, he barked suddenly:
"Run! You lazy bastard, I’ve never seen anyone as lazy as you. Run! Move your legs, faster, faster, faster!"
With that, the "Hairdryer" coach kicked Wei Lai in the backside.
Wei Lai had no choice but to run. Even though he was being yelled at, his heart was filled with pleasant surprise.
This actually triggered a hidden course?
Beckham was unreliable, but this suit-wearing Hairdryer coach seemed like the real deal.
Two advanced courses.
[Glory of 1992]
[The Broken Hairdryer]
Wei Lai was incredibly grateful to Coach Kante.
He spent 10 training points and earned 200!
A 20-fold return!
"What kind of garbage basic training is this? Do it over! Keep doing it!"
"Your dribbling is terrible! A 90-year-old man could dribble better than you!"
"Terrible pass! Terrible decision!"
"Head up! You scoundrel!"
Wei Lai finally understood why he was called the Hairdryer coach.
This coach was angry every second of the day, roaring incessantly.
He roared until Wei Lai’s guts trembled and his legs turned to jelly.
"You can't even handle this much pressure? I don't have any soldiers this weak under my command!"
"Remember, you are the heir to the Red Devils' spirit! Even if you are bleeding, you are not allowed to shed tears!"
"Failure belongs to the opponent; all we ever want is victory!"
The training intensity was beyond words. Despite only two hours of training, and even though Wei Lai was quite confident in his own stamina, he was left collapsed on the ground by the Hairdryer coach.
Watching Wei Lai lying on the floor, the Hairdryer coach walked over slowly.
He looked down at Wei Lai and said in a low voice, "Begin stage two training!"
"There's more?"
Wei Lai looked up.
The next second, he felt his drained stamina instantly restore, and that wave of exhaustion vanished abruptly.
The surrounding environment transformed into a stadium.
The stands were filled with fiery fans, like walls of dancing red flames.
Wei Lai had some impression of this stadium; it looked like the one from Coach Casemiro’s assessment—Old Trafford, he thought!
However, compared to that time, the stadium looked somewhat aged.
Before Wei Lai could react, he was pushed onto the pitch by the Hairdryer coach.
"Get on the field, you're playing as a defensive midfielder!"
Wei Lai stepped on, still dazed. A second later, he was nutmegged by his opponent.
"Scoundrel! What are you daydreaming about?"
"You pig, this is the top tier of football, the Premier League..."
Five minutes later.
"Get the hell off the field!!!—"
Wei Lai was shouted off. In his first match, he only lasted five minutes.
The field refreshed, the task reset.
"Get on, you're playing defensive midfield!"
Wei Lai: "......"
"Idiot! You let your man go!"
"I'm sorry!"
"Bastard! Where are you looking?"
"I'm sorry!"
"Moron! Tackle him!"
"I'm sorry! I couldn't reach him!"
At this moment, Wei Lai remembered the mission.
[The Broken Hairdryer]
Good heavens!
Was it asking him to prove himself on the stage of the top five leagues and make that coach shut up?
...
The next day, early morning.
He Chaoyue woke up to the sunlight. He rubbed his sleepy eyes, intending to change and go for a morning run.
Turning his head, he saw Wei Lai sleeping in bed.
After a moment's thought, He Chaoyue walked over and patted Wei Lai.
"Wei Lai? Want to go for a morning run?"
Wei Lai opened his eyes wide, bolting upright like a frightened rabbit, and shouted:
"I'm sorry! I promise I won't make that mistake again!"
The deafening "I'm sorry" was tinged with a hint of terror.
Yang Fan was also startled awake.
"What? What's going on?"
Yang Fan jumped up in his boxers, looking around in a panic.
Finally, he saw Wei Lai, who was pale as a sheet, and He Chaoyue, who stood there with his mouth wide open, looking completely bewildered.
