Victory in the Revival Match / Words on Launching the Book.

Paraíso dos Deuses Coelho medieval 834 words 2026-08-05 01:56:40

In fact, ever since I entered this industry, I have written quite a few books that could barely make ends meet.

"A New Global Rule Every Month", with 12,000 average subscriptions; the opening was dreamed up, written in an hour, and uploaded.

"My Turret Has a Caliber of Three Thousand Meters", with 6,400 average subscriptions; the specific genre wasn't even finalized until 40,000 words in.

"My Doomsday Train", with 9,400 average subscriptions; the protagonist's golden finger wasn't decided until 30,000 words in.

"I Cultivate Immortality via Entry Tags in a Troubled World", with 8,000 average subscriptions; the 6,000-word opening was written in an hour.

"I Really Am a Law-Abiding..."
...

However, I have always wanted to write a book that I truly wanted to write.
Like this one...
Yet, I never expected it to be so unaccepted by the market. My editor advised me to scrap it and start the next one.
And being obedient, I did scrap it, as the metrics were indeed poor.

However, after scrapping it, I felt deeply saddened. Ever since entering this industry, I have hardly ever written a book I genuinely wanted to write. Every single book I actually wanted to write bombed miserably, and I feel a sense of lingering resentment.
I completely lack the desire to start the next book.
My state of mind has shattered.

So...
I have decided to be willful just this once. Tomorrow at noon, at 120,000 words, I will apply for official publication. I won't take promotional placements, I don't care about the stats, and I don't look at the royalties.
I will update 20,000 words daily for 3 months.
I am willing to go without income for 3 months, using that time to finish telling this story that I truly, deeply want to finish, all to clear my troubled mind.
Otherwise, my heart aches.
It genuinely aches.

Whether I earn a few hundred thousand more or a few hundred thousand less doesn't make much difference to my life.
But if my state of mind remains blocked, if every single book I want to write ends up unfinished, it will become an insurmountable hurdle in my heart. I can accept it bombing, but I can hardly accept it perishing midway every single time.

...
Releasing tomorrow, starting tomorrow with 20,000 words daily.
If the editor doesn't approve the publication at 120,000 words, I will update 20,000 words daily during the free period until publication.
Screw it all.
Damn it.
I am going to finish telling this story no matter what.
