Chapter 54: The Edge of the Sky and the City in the Sky
Is he worthy of you?
A soft chuckle drifted into Angel Yan’s ears, carrying an undisguised, teasing tone.
She could even picture Queen Keisha, draped in a majestic white gown woven with gold threads, sitting in the scenic royal gardens of the distant Tiancheng (Celestial Court), wearing a playful and mischievous smile on her noble, beautiful face.
And right beside Queen Keisha sat King Zeyi (Heavenly Zeyi/Tianji King), clothed in silver gauze, sporting the exact same knowing, maternal smile.
After all, over the past few days, Yan had been sharing every piece of information she could gather about the Power of the Galaxy with these two, and even with some of her closest guard angels.
That was simply because the subject of the Power of the Galaxy grew increasingly captivating the more one learned about it.
Especially that recent moment when he had single-handedly suppressed the Leona faction with just a sword, maneuvering deftly amidst the monarchs and ministers of Leona—it had been a thoroughly thrilling and deeply satisfying spectacle for Keisha and the others to watch.
Only a select few high-ranking angels in the known universe knew of the deep-rooted connection between the Power of the Galaxy and the angels, as well as the angels' current stance toward him.
Therefore, watching the rapid growth of the Power of the Galaxy was even more addictive than reading a righteous and breathtaking legendary tale... the immersion was intense.
Is he worthy of her?
This was already the second time Queen Keisha had posed this question to her.
The last time, she had purposely deflected and brushed it past.
"Um, well about that..." A subconscious flush crept up Angel Yan’s exquisitely heroic cheeks.
"I, well, it’s hard to say." Yet this time, she still did not give a direct answer.
She gazed fixedly at that tall, sturdy young figure. Though she could not bear to tear her eyes away even for a second, an inexplicable sigh lingered in her voice.
"Oh, come on now, Angel Yan. Isn't your standard a bit excessively high?"
At that moment, a magnetic, pleasant voice rang out.
In Angel Yan’s mind, she could picture King Tianji far away in the Celestial Court, clicking her tongue and saying: "The Power of the Galaxy only awakened a few days ago, yet he wields the anti-void engine along with a void-engine greatsword. In terms of combat prowess, he is practically unrivaled beneath the third generation, and his tactical adaptability and strategic mind are obvious to all.
With all these achievements, is that still not enough to be worthy of you, Angel Yan?"
As she spoke, she glanced amusingly at Queen Keisha beside her. "I must say, Queen Keisha, is your disciple being overly arrogant? If you ask me, perhaps you shouldn't give the Power of the Galaxy to her after all; give him to my Zhi Xin instead."
Queen Keisha held her teacup, nodding slightly at these words. "It is indeed a bit excessive..."
She took a light sip of clear tea, her eyes smiling at the corners, clearly in a very good mood.
"Exactly! Yan is always the one showing off the most; why not give him to me instead!" In the group chat, a heroic figure with a single golden ponytail chimed in.
"I—Teacher, please don't talk nonsense. Sister Yan's future belongs to Sister Yan." A soft and clear voice belonging to a figure with short golden hair spoke up cautiously as she looked at Tianji.
"Well, if Angel Yan looks down on him, then for the sake of the angels' future, we surely can't have Queen Keisha step in herself." Tianji spread her hands, a mischievous smile lingering in her starlit eyes.
"I think you stepping in would suit him just fine, Tianji." Keisha cast a faint glance at her.
Seeing this, the smile on Tianji’s stunning face faltered for a moment. She gave a light cough and said, "I merely recalled that back when the angels and River of Gods (Shenhe) jointly forged the River of Gods' Power, the gods and angels wished most of all for you and the River of Gods' Power to..."
"And I am currently pondering whether I should assign both you and Zhi Xin to the Power of the Galaxy." Keisha smiled as she looked at her.
Tianji fell silent instantly.
The next second, she was seen sitting up straight, looking as if absolutely nothing had happened just moments before.
The little angel named Zhi Xin, far away on the planet Ferezer, was likewise frightened into absolute silence.
Only the single golden ponytail, who loved watching the chaos without fear of the stakes, covered her mouth and nodded frantically.
Keisha looked at the somewhat well-behaved Tianji, and then turned her gaze back to Angel Yan. "Yan, share your thoughts."
Although Tianji and the others were teasing, she didn't actually believe Angel Yan had grown arrogant to that degree.
"I..."
Angel Yan hadn't been overly affected by the earlier banter; her expression instead carried a growing hesitation. "Queen Keisha, I am simply wondering—is it even my place anymore to discuss whether he is worthy of me?"
Keisha paused at these words.
The smiles on the faces of the other angels instantly faded as well.
"What Tianji said does make sense, and the performance of the Power of the Galaxy over the past few days speaks for itself," Angel Yan continued, "yet we can also see that throughout all his actions these past few days, the deep-seated pride within him is equally impossible to ignore... and he has never once concealed his most fundamental desires as a man."
Her gaze involuntarily shifted toward the several beautiful figures standing beside Ge Xiaolun.
If it had been a few days ago, she wouldn't have paid them the slightest bit of attention.
Even if Ge Xiaolun had merely been an ordinary human wealthy elite, having numerous women would hardly be strange.
Let alone the fact that he was a male god.
If a female angel couldn't even tolerate such minor flaws in her eyes, then she might as well give up on ever finding a desirable male god.
Yet right now, she felt it becoming increasingly difficult to overlook.
"Just like when I spoke to him previously about the angels' assistance to Earth, and he replied that we could discuss cooperation between Earth and the angels later... though I didn't think much of it at the time."
In Angel Yan’s beautiful eyes, the scene from beneath the streetlight shortly before inevitably surfaced, and she looked downward once more. "And while he is young, fond of women, and exceedingly confident, throughout his interactions with Leona, he never once expressed any intent to pursue her... He couldn't possibly fail to see what kind of shortcut that would be."
She could observe how Ge Xiaolun and Leona got along.
Though certain parts seemed somewhat ambiguous, much of it was merely the mischief of youths, completely devoid of any deliberate intent to advance their relationship through it.
There was even a clear sense of boundaries.
The surrounding angels fell into a brief silence.
"So what you mean is, you lack the confidence to be his only one, even if you are willing to wait until his mortal confidantes have passed away," Tianji raised an eyebrow, "because he is simply not someone you can fully master at this stage?"
Angel Yan nodded silently.
The other angels remained quietly thoughtful.
Though during their conversations, they had never paid attention to the other confidantes of the Power of the Galaxy—acting as though it mattered little if Angel Yan was assigned to him by Queen Keisha—in truth, for proud female angels, almost all of them, once matched with a male god and truly united with him, would demand to be his absolute and only partner.
Even if that male god had other confidantes, they were fully capable of waiting out those mortals' lifespans and then using their own charm to conquer the male god, making him devoted to them alone.
For angels, time was never an issue.
Yet the problem now was...
"Viewed in this light, his growing so rapidly may not necessarily be entirely a good thing for us." At this point, Queen Keisha also gave a gentle nod.
Perhaps because she was the one directly involved, Angel Yan had indeed thought much further ahead than the rest of them.
While they were still relishing the astonishing feats of the Power of the Galaxy, Angel Yan had already uncovered certain hidden concerns.
To put it bluntly, how likely was it that an exceptionally brilliant and proud male god—one who had already realized he was destined to reach the pinnacle—would bestow his affection upon a single woman?
"Yet why do I feel like there's still a chance?" Tianji suddenly spoke up.
The angels immediately turned their attention to her.
She looked thoughtfully at the imagery transmitted by Angel Yan, resting her chin on her hand as she slowly said, "Do you all remember what the Power of the Galaxy said to Leona earlier? He suggested that Leona might as well withdraw Leona's investment, asking if he couldn't find a way himself."
The angels paused upon hearing this.
"And just a short while ago, he also told you, Angel Yan, to leave your contact information so you could discuss cooperation later."
Tianji’s beautiful eyes brightened. "He is clearly treating us angels as his backup plan..."
"Yet his cooperation with Leona has already secured Leona's investment," Angel Yan said with a trace of helplessness.
"And yet that precisely demonstrates that while he is proud and confident, he also understands that Earth currently requires outside assistance."
Tianji smiled inexplicably once again. "Besides, did you all see that? The dismissive attitude Xuan Tianji from Leona had when he left."
The angels nodded. As bystanders, they could perhaps see things much more clearly than those directly involved like Ge Xiaolun.
"Clearly, Xuan Tianji believed that although Ge Xiaolun is powerful, in the end he would still be forced to rely on an alliance with Leona to secure this assistance because Earth genuinely needs it right now... and perhaps the other gods of Leona think the same way."
"They only need to wait—to wait until Earth can no longer fend off a full-scale invasion by the Taotie—and then they can take back everything they offered today while obtaining whatever they desired."
Tianji continued with a smile: "Yet they do not realize our stance toward the Power of the Galaxy, nor do they truly understand us angels."
In truth, they could all tell that Pan Zhen of Leona genuinely viewed Earth as something in the palm of his hand.
Even after suffering such a massive loss of face this time, his fundamental mindset had not changed.
And they also knew that god-level civilizations like Leona understood very little about many aspects of the angels, while holding absolute scorn for their sense of justice.
"The King of Tianji means..." Angel Yan grew somewhat interested.
"Wait and see. The Power of the Galaxy should contact you very soon... perhaps tomorrow, or perhaps even before tonight is through."
Tianji revealed a confident smile. "At that time, you can be a bit proactive... though not too proactive. After all, if you lose your composure and help the people of Earth ashore too early, the Power of the Galaxy will likely do little more than say thank you."
Angel Yan gained a sudden flash of understanding.
She looked toward Queen Keisha.
Queen Keisha also nodded slightly. "Respond actively to his request for help, but maintain the rhythm."
"As for the rest, it will depend entirely on your personal charm." Tianji looked at Angel Yan with a beaming smile. "Even if there's an extra Su Xiaoli, I believe you should be able to handle it..."
Angel Yan nodded silently, a surge of newfound confidence filling her eyes.
...
Two days later, beneath a tree in the plains behind the Super Seminary.
"Hey Xiaolun, have you contacted the angels yet?" Leona, dressed in a dark green leather outfit, sidled up beside Ge Xiaolun as he browsed a tablet device, and asked in a low voice.
Ge Xiaolun gave her a strange look. "Why would I contact them?"
