Chapter 53 Does He Deserve You?
Hearing Ge Xiaolun invite her to also serve as an instructor, Leina was genuinely surprised for a moment.
However, looking at the battered Xuan Tianji and Yuan Li, she felt a surge of fury that almost made her die of anger!
By now, how could she fail to realize that Ge Xiaolun must have planned everything out for her long ago!
Although she had been so confident of her own victory that she hadn't bothered to think about what arrangements Ge Xiaolun would make for her.
Squad leader, and concurrently instructor.
Though neither of these titles carried any real command authority within the Xiongbing Lian, at least they saved face!
Especially the title of instructor during the early stages of training; it somehow sounded even more senior than that of squadron leader.
Particularly given the fact that she had lost, for Ge Xiaolun to grant her such a position showed tremendous breadth of vision and deeply respected her status as a supreme deity of Leina.
She wouldn't be forced to bow beneath another.
Had Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji not rudely inserted themselves into the middle of it, for someone who had lost a bet to still retain such dignity would have meant everyone parting on happy and harmonious terms.
In that case, she could still occasionally act as the big boss in front of the Xiongbing Lian soldiers. Even without formal command authority, the role of Leina as an unquestionable benefactor to Earth would remain intact.
After all, it would have been nothing more than an internal sparring match within the academy.
Yet Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji just had to jump out and pull such a stunt, taking advantage of Ge Xiaolun's youth, leveraging past favors for moral blackmail, resorting to threats and enticements, only to end up getting their faces slapped right after trying to act superior.
Not only did they completely ruin Leina's face, but they also thoroughly exposed their own ambitious and treacherous true colors!
The young members of the Xiongbing Lian were all watching right there. What kind of impression would they have of Leina from now on?
What kind of impression would they have of her?
When interacting with these kids in the future, she feared every single one of them would harbor a trace of wariness toward her.
The two outcomes were worlds apart; how could she possibly not be furious?!
This was failing to show her face and instead exposing her backside, only to get thrashed repeatedly with a great treasured sword by someone else!
"Get lost!"
Leina glared at Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji, experiencing a rare and intense fury, and pointed straight up into the sky as she roared: "Get lost, both of you!!!"
Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji fell silent as well, for they too could understand the implications of Ge Xiaolun's arrangement.
A trace of shame instinctively surfaced on Yuan Li's face.
Xuan Tianji, however, felt no shame at all. After a brief moment of thought, a flicker of imperceptible disdain flashed deep within his eyes.
Yet neither of them said anything more in the end. Golden light flared beneath their feet, and their figures shot straight up into the clouds, vanishing from sight in an instant.
Beneath the serene night sky, Leina took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, you all had to watch a joke today." She managed to force a reluctant smile as she looked toward Ge Xiaolun, Teacher Ryze, and the other trainees not far away.
From this moment on, she knew that the image of the noble and revered supreme deity of Leina she had previously cultivated would take a massive hit.
"Oh, what's a little thing like that?" Old Ryze chuckled as he smoothly smoothed things over. "As long as you get along well with Xiaolun, Qiangwei, and these kids, there aren't that much messy complications in the friendships of young people."
Looking at the young Leina before him, as well as the young Ge Xiaolun, his eyes overflowed with gratification.
In truth, how could he possibly be unaware of the minor machinations from Leina's side? It was simply that he didn't care.
Yet being able to witness firsthand Ge Xiaolun safeguarding the dignity of an entire civilization with his own strength, while simultaneously displaying the wisdom and vision proper to a supreme deity, and establishing a youthful friendship and tacit understanding with Leina—he felt utterly refreshed from head to toe...
"That's right, Leina," Ge Xiaolun also smiled as he looked at her. "If you agree, starting today, we're going to have to trouble you to be our instructor."
Leina stared at him intently for a moment before her face broke into a bright smile, and she suddenly took a large stride forward. "I never expected you little rascal to have figured out how to arrange things for me long ago. Tell me, did you actually calculate from the very beginning that you could take me down in a single second?"
As she spoke, her right arm wrapped around Ge Xiaolun's shoulder, hooking tightly around his neck as she feigned a fierce and threatening tone.
"Hey hey hey hey, go easy..."
Ge Xiaolun hurriedly patted her frustrated and forceful right hand, clicking his tongue as he said, "I did figure it out beforehand, and I arranged it for you ahead of time too. After all, I never intended to completely crush your standing anyway."
Regarding how to arrange a place for Leina, he had naturally already thought it through when she brought the matter up during the day.
While he refused to yield an inch on matters of sovereignty and command authority, toward this kind-hearted little sun that was Leina, he naturally had to ensure she preserved her dignity.
Regardless of how much help this little sun could provide in the future, or whether she might occasionally act as a hindrance, she was currently helping out with good intentions and was, after all, a supreme deity in her own right. Even if she lost the spar, the respect she deserved could not be lacking.
Furthermore, maintaining an intimate relationship with Leina would benefit many of his future plans.
It was simply a pity that the deities of Leina insisted on running their mouths foolishly before the results were even out, practically lining up to present their faces for him to slap.
If he hadn't tested out his hand-eye coordination then, wouldn't they have been terribly disappointed?
"Then did you already know that with these conditions offered, even if I lost, this big sister would still stay behind?" Leina asked once more with a beaming smile as she looked at him.
Their heads were drawn almost close together, yet neither felt any sense of ambiguity; it was more akin to the playfulness and straightforwardness of youth.
"Do you want the honest truth?" Ge Xiaolun glanced at her smiling eyes, which were inches away from his own.
"Give me the honest truth." Leina nodded seriously.
Ge Xiaolun smacked his lips. "I could calculate the color of your undergarments with my eyes closed."
One of the main reasons he was able to easily sidestep many troublesome issues during his confrontations with Leina was that he was well aware of what Leina had come to Earth to do.
Unless she found it genuinely unbearable to stay, Leina would find every possible way to remain and make friends with him, the Power of the Galaxy.
Therefore, he didn't need to care about any so-called grace from Leina, nor did he need to pay attention to Leina's moral kidnapping. He only needed to speak directly to Leina, treating everything purely as a matter of friendship between her and himself.
He knew that there was a high probability Leina would take up his offer, and she definitely wanted to forge an alliance with him.
As for the likes of Xuan Tianji or Pan Zhen?
I'm terribly sorry, but you guys simply aren't in the same league as the Power of the Galaxy.
"That's only because you saw it during the day," Leina retorted with a click of her tongue. "Besides, I already changed into a new pair when I took a bath this afternoon..."
"They're still white, though," Ge Xiaolun remarked offhandedly.
"No way? You can calculate that too?!" Leina was genuinely shocked. Surely that wasn't right, was it?
"Heh, how could you possibly understand the power of the Anti-Void?" Ge Xiaolun sneered.
He certainly wasn't going to tell anyone that he had caught another glimpse when he knocked Leina flying just moments ago.
"Oh my dear Principal Zilean~"
Ryze, standing off to the side, had originally hoped to hear the two youths exchange some profound, lofty discourses, never imagining that the conversation would veer off course in the blink of an eye.
These youngsters...
He helplessly shook his head and vanished on the spot.
Following his departure, Ge Xiaolun and Leina walked over to the young trainees, no longer wrapping arms around each other's shoulders.
"Did you all see that?"
Ge Xiaolun looked at the group of youngsters, who were still in a state of utter bewilderment, and smiled slightly.
"Mm-mm-mm."
"We saw it..."
"Oh my gosh, I don't quite get it, but it looks insanely awesome!"
"My hubby is so cool!"
"The boss is truly amazing."
"Hey Lun-ge, does this mean we'll be able to do that in the future too?"
Everyone spoke at once. Whether it was Liu闯 and Zhao Xin, who understood nothing at all, Rui Mengmeng and Cheng Yaowen, or even Du Qiangwei, Su Xiaoli, and Qilin, who understood a little more, they all eagerly expressed their astonishment and words of high praise.
Perhaps they couldn't fathom the deep-seated causes and effects behind the scenes, but at the very least, they could understand that those two sudden aliens clearly harbored malice toward Earth, only to be sliced up and dealt with as easily as cutting vegetables by Ge Xiaolun moments later.
Especially the absolute aura of superiority Ge Xiaolun exuded in just a few brief sentences, leaving the enemies entirely incapable of resistance—it left them utterly prostrate in admiration.
Yet no matter how they praised or questioned him, none of them managed to hit the nail on the head.
Only Du Qiangwei, who understood the most, gazed at the calm and composed Ge Xiaolun. In her eyes, alongside admiration, flickered a myriad of complex emotions.
After all, apart from Ge Xiaolun, Leina, and Teacher Ryze who had already departed, she was probably the only one present who understood what kind of opponents Ge Xiaolun had faced with those few simple moves and words, how many crises he had defused, and what level of interests and dignity he had preserved for Earth.
And while she and the clueless trainees beside her could only watch blankly as he single-handedly resolved the problem.
Perhaps... this was what was meant by a supreme deity, as described in the conference materials Teacher Ryze had shown her.
"Seeing it is enough; I don't expect you lot to understand it just yet."
Ge Xiaolun smiled as he looked at the crowd, having no intention of imparting any profound lectures to these newcomers. He cheerfully continued, "Just remember this: once you all grow stronger, when I, your boss, am putting on a show, some of the minor chores are things you should proactively take over. Don't make me handle everything myself."
Though it had indeed been very effortless for him to crush Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji.
Fundamentally, however, given his identity as the Power of the Galaxy, he shouldn't have had to deal with such small fry.
Moreover, today's situation was relatively simple; at the very least, he knew Leina posed no real danger to him, and as long as Pan Zhen cared about his own face, he wouldn't step forward personally.
Otherwise, facing multiple hostile entities alone, unless he resorted to killing blows, suppressing them would have been quite a strain.
Had the warriors of the Xiongbing Lian already matured by today, Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji should never have even made it in front of him.
"Yes!"
"Understood!"
Hearing Ge Xiaolun's banter, Du Qiangwei, Liu Chuang, and the others excitedly responded in loud voices.
Standing off to the side, Leina watched this scene with a flicker of undisguised envy in her eyes.
She knew very well that the events of today were more than enough for Ge Xiaolun to effortlessly conquer the hearts of these young deities and super-warriors.
And these were precisely the things she had dreamed of attaining.
"Very well, for my next appointments: Du Qiangwei will also serve as a squad leader. Squad leaders, please distribute the armor and weapons to everyone and get ready for tomorrow's training." Ge Xiaolun looked at the chaotic chorus of responses and instructed further.
"Huh? There are only nine of us in total, and three squad leaders?" Liu Chuang asked in surprise.
Ge Xiaolun shot him a smiling glance. "It could also be eight people."
Liu Chuang hurriedly clamped a hand over his mouth.
Beneath the starry sky, the first batch of super-warriors of the Xiongbing Lian soon received their respective dark-alloy armor and weapons, and the sounds of joyful laughter echoed across the plains for a long time.
...
Meanwhile, somewhere in the sky.
Angel Yan sat suspended in mid-air out of thin air, watching with emotional eyes as the youthful and vibrant young deities down below unfolded their vitality, her gaze shimmering as she fixed it upon that one figure amongst them from which she simply couldn't tear her eyes away.
"Well, Yan, is he worthy of you?"
