Chapter 51 Do You Think It's Safe Up in the Sky?
Yuan Li, who looked like an ancient general of the Great Xia dynasty, was batted away by Ge Xiaolun just like a baseball, spinning through the air and landing unconscious, much like Leina had earlier.
The new cadets of the Super Academy standing nearby had almost no idea what had just happened.
All they saw was this individual—or god—descending from the skies.
He arrived, took a knee, and was instantly swatted away by a single sword strike from Ge Xiaolun.
"Hum—"
A spatial wormhole flickered, and Teacher Ryze materialized a few dozen meters away from Ge Xiaolun. He cast a cautious glance at Ge Xiaolun first, then looked over at the unconscious Yuan Li, and shook his head helplessly.
"Xiaolun, you certainly don't hesitate when you strike, do you?" A wry smile appeared on his face.
He didn't quite know what to say, even though he had registered every detail of the sequence.
From Ge Xiaolun sending Leina flying, to Yuan Li's sudden appearance, and straight through to Ge Xiaolun swatting Yuan Li away.
He was astonished to find that Ge Xiaolun's actions from beginning to end were executed with absolute, unhesitating decisiveness.
He had even made a point of teleporting a bit further away from Ge Xiaolun, terrified that the young man might misunderstand his intentions and unleash a devastating combo that would take him out as well.
"Can't be helped. Some moron popped up out of nowhere and started spouting nonsense right off the bat," Ge Xiaolun replied with a shake of his head.
It wasn't that he couldn't figure out why Yuan Li had suddenly appeared, or why he had decided to talk big and put on a solemn, mysterious act the moment he arrived.
Yet how could he possibly have the patience to waste time on this minor nuisance?
"Ha-ha-ha, Xiaolun, oh Xiaolun, you..." Ryze didn't know what else to say, so he could only offer another helpless smile.
Of course he knew that Ge Xiaolun was well aware Yuan Li was a deity from Leiyang, especially since they had all met at noon during the transaction involving Xoton.
However, Ge Xiaolun clearly held zero regard for the man, nor did he have any tolerance for such rash interference.
Before he even realized it, this Sword That Pierces Through Fear had grown remarkably sharp...
"To be completely honest, when we agreed to your conditions back then, we truly didn't expect you to defeat Leina, nor did we think you would care quite this much."
"Even today, we assumed you might struggle to suppress Leina's energy, meaning the match could have gone either way, leaving us to wait for the outcome before discussing next steps."
Ryze looked over at the still-unconscious Leina and sighed, "It now appears that the people over at Leiyang have some objections."
The "we" he referred to naturally included himself, Du Kaao, and the others.
And implicitly, it likely included the gods of Leiyang as well.
"Hmph," Ge Xiaolun shook his head indifferently. "What on earth does Leiyang..."
Before he could finish his sentence, another muffled rumble of thunder exploded across the sky.
This time, however, there was no descending golden light, nor did anyone materialize directly before Ge Xiaolun.
Ge Xiaolun raised his gaze to the heavens, spotting a figure clad in silver armor and wielding a haldiberd, standing proudly hundreds of meters high in the air and looking down upon him and the gathered members of the Super Academy.
"Galaxy Power!" the newcomer bellowed, his voice rolling like thunder across the skies.
"Xuan Tianji, the Guardian of Tiger Fiend from Leiyang," Ryze muttered, narrowing his eyes.
Ge Xiaolun gazed calmly at the figure in the sky, easily recognizing who had arrived.
As for the rest of the members of the Xiongbing Squad, they stood dumbfounded, completely unable to make sense of this endless series of unfolding dramas.
"Are you aware that your planet Earth is facing an invasion from the Styx galaxy? If not for the assistance of Leiyang, you wouldn't even have been able to form the Xiongbing Squad in the first place!"
The god known as Xuan Tianji wore a stern and icy expression as he shouted down, "And yet, out of pure benevolence, Goddess Leina personally came here to help you defend your world! Who could have expected that you would actually contend with her for the mere position of captain of the Xiongbing Squad!
Yuan Li merely descended to guard our Goddess and offer you a reminder, yet you dared to attack him as well!
Let me remind you, how can a supreme主神 of Leiyang ever stoop to serving beneath another?!"
His booming voice left the hearts of everyone present trembling with anxiety.
At the same time, it jolted Leina, who was just beginning to regain consciousness.
"What's going on? Xuan Tianji?" Leina blinked dazedly at the figure in the sky, asking, "What are you doing here?"
She only remembered a sudden darkness overtaking her vision, and upon waking up, she found Xuan Tianji shouting down from the clouds.
"Goddess Leina!"
Seeing that Leina had awakened, a flash of involuntary disdain crossed Xuan Tianji's eyes, though his outward expression remained righteous and solemn. "You fell unconscious just moments ago, and Yuan Li merely intended to descend and protect you, preventing Galaxy Power from drawing near, only to be struck down by Galaxy Power's sword.
Your subordinate merely wished to teach Galaxy Power a lesson about gratitude and decency!"
Hearing this, Leina instinctively frowned.
Yet her frown was not directed at Ge Xiaolun.
Instead, her gaze turned cold as she stared at Xuan Tianji and the distant Yuan Li.
"When did I ever ask you to come here?"
With a startling swiftness, she immediately shifted the spearhead toward Xuan Tianji and demanded sharply, "My spar with Xiaolun was an internal academy match! Even if I lost, it was fair and square. Why on earth did you suddenly butt in and mess things up?!"
Such speed caught Ryze entirely off guard.
Though Ge Xiaolun remained unsurprised, simply gazing calmly at Xuan Tianji.
Xuan Tianji was equally caught off guard by Leina's words, his expression instantly souring.
Clearly, he had never imagined that Leina would reprimand him so directly without even a moment's hesitation.
"To be frank, I have no idea why you lesser deities always feel the need to meddle in affairs between prime deities," Ge Xiaolun remarked, looking up at Xuan Tianji with an indifferent tone.
"Or is Leiyang a civilization entirely devoid of proper etiquette, allowing any stray cat or dog to jump out and pass judgment right in front of another civilization's primary deity?"
Leina paused slightly at these words, casting a complex look toward Ge Xiaolun.
Hearing Ge Xiaolun's remarks, she instantly realized that he had understood the subtext of her earlier words, and had seen straight through Xuan Tianji's sophistry.
Perhaps, he had even seen through some of her own hidden intentions...
"On my home turf of Galaxy Power, do your Leiyang deities really dare to order me to halt at every turn?"
Ge Xiaolun glanced briefly at the distant Yuan Li before turning his calm gaze back to Xuan Tianji in the sky. "I have never heard of a civilization providing assistance to another, only for the recipient to be forced to surrender their own military command rights in return.
As for the wager between your Goddess and me, do you really think a few low-level lackeys like you can coerce me with hollow moral blackmail?"
Faced with the sudden intrusion of Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji, he had naturally seen through their true motives at a glance.
After all, Leiyang's involvement boiled down to two main matters.
First, Leiyang assisted Earth in forming the Xiongbing Squad so they could eventually meddle in Earth's affairs and promote their so-called Heavenly Dao Plan.
Second, Leina securing the position of captain of the Xiongbing Squad would grant her command over the unit. This would allow her to influence and guide the ideology of the young squad members while simultaneously basking in glory, spreading her faith, and gathering followers.
While Leina herself was fundamentally kind-hearted, her primary goal in coming to Earth to make friends—which would ultimately bolster her political standing back in Leiyang—meant she still needed to cooperate with Leiyang's strategy.
Furthermore, Leina herself harbored no aversion to standing in the spotlight, spreading the faith of the Sun God, and earning the adoration of the masses.
Du Kaao and the others had similarly played along with a feigned facade in order to secure Leiyang's aid for the growth of the Xiongbing warriors.
Yet now, Ge Xiaolun had risen meteorically. If Leina failed to secure the captaincy, she would naturally lose the ability to exert sufficient influence over the young deities of the Xiongbing Squad, let alone lure these seeds of divinity back to Leiyang.
At the same time, Leiyang's efforts to spread its faith and advance the Heavenly Dao Plan would suffer a severe setback.
Regardless of whose orders Yuan Li and Xuan Tianji were following, upon seeing Leina defeated, they had evidently attempted to use moral pressure and Leiyang's past assistance to Earth to sway a younger Ge Xiaolun.
At the very least, they expected him to hesitate.
Unfortunately for them, they had no idea that he could see right through their cheap ploys from the very start.
Xuan Tianji's face grew increasingly gloomy and dark upon hearing this.
Although they hadn't necessarily expected to reclaim the captaincy for Leina, they had assumed that if Galaxy Power was subjected to enough pressure, a co-captain arrangement wouldn't be entirely out of the question.
At the very least, they hoped to retain some degree of initiative.
Yet no one could have anticipated that this Galaxy Power would prove so utterly unyielding... and completely devoid of diplomatic tact.
"Galaxy Power," Xuan Tianji spoke with a dark expression, "if you persist in your obstinacy, not only will your planet Earth lose Goddess Leina's assistance, but all other forms of support Leiyang provides to your world—"
"This truly makes me wonder whether your civilization of Leiyang genuinely lacks all sense of hierarchy and decorum," Ge Xiaolun interrupted, a mocking amusement in his voice as he looked toward Leina.
"I have to ask, should I, the Galaxy Power, be holding discussions with the Sun of God, or do I need to hold separate conversations with every single minor deity from Leiyang?
Leina, while I previously stated that I preferred not to meddle in other matters, if the nonsense this Xuan Tianji is spouting genuinely represents the official stance of Leiyang, and represents the will of you, the primary deity...
Then in my view, you might as well withdraw whatever so-called assistance Leiyang claims to offer. I am quite capable of finding solutions on my own."
He gazed quietly at Leina, his eyes as tranquil as a stagnant pool.
Leina stared back at him, seeing her own reflection in his deep eyes.
In that single instant, Leina seemed to understand something profound.
Ryze, standing nearby, had initially been startled by Ge Xiaolun's mention of cutting ties, but upon witnessing the silent exchange of glances between the two, he couldn't help but freeze in realization.
"Xuan Tianji!"
The next second, Leina glared up at the figure in the sky, her phoenix-like eyes flashing with a chilling frost. "Have you and the others decided that Leiyang hasn't lost enough face today?"
Xuan Tianji's expression twisted uncomfortably. "Leina..."
"And as for you, shouting and roaring up there in the clouds—do you truly believe the sky is completely safe?" Ge Xiaolun suddenly chuckled.
Xuan Tianji froze instantly, a sudden sense of impending doom washing over him as he instinctively took a step backward.
Ge Xiaolun stared at him with a placid expression.
"Hum..."
In a fraction of a second, Xuan Tianji's mind went completely blank as his body plummeted straight down from the high altitude!
"Thud!"
A few seconds later, Xuan Tianji was sent crashing deeply onto his knees right before the entire assembly.
