Chapter Thirty-Four: Rose: Is He My God?

As before, after avoiding the sight of ordinary people, Ge Xiaolun and Du Qiangwei flew back to the Super God Academy with the newly awakened Su Xiaoli.
Along the way, Su Xiaoli was unavoidably thrilled by her first experience of flying firsthand. Before ten in the morning, the three of them had already returned to the Super God Academy.
After helping Su Xiaoli settle in with her luggage and familiarizing her with various parts of the academy, they found that it was nearly noon and had lunch together in the cafeteria.
“Heh heh heh, Xiaolun, have you finished showing Xiaoli around campus?”
They had just stepped out of the cafeteria when they saw the old scholar in a mortarboard and academic robe approaching from nearby. It was Old Man Ruiz.
Ruiz stopped in front of them, leaning on his cane as he asked with a kindly smile, “How did it go?”
“Good afternoon, Teacher Ruiz. More or less—we’ve gotten familiar with the place.”
Ge Xiaolun greeted them with a smile, then introduced the man to Su Xiaoli, who was holding onto his arm. “Xiaoli, this is Teacher Ruiz. Say hello.”
“Hello, Teacher Ruiz.”
Behind her sunglasses, Su Xiaoli blinked her jewel-like emerald eyes and greeted him obediently in her clear, sweet voice.
“Good, good, good... Hmm. The enchantment gene of the Battle Fox—its beauty and charm truly cannot be completely concealed, even by specially made sunglasses.”
Ruiz smiled at the lovely and well-behaved girl. A kindly expression appeared on his face, tinged with a hint of emotion as he continued, “Still, being able to end up with Xiaolun, you should count yourself the luckiest Battle Fox of your generation. Xiaoli, you must cherish this.”
His words carried the unmistakable weight of an old story. Ge Xiaolun understood him, but merely smiled without replying.
Su Xiaoli blinked, seeming to understand and yet not quite understand. Then she smiled sweetly. “Mm-hmm! Teacher Ruiz is absolutely right. Meeting Brother Xiaolun is the greatest fortune of Xiaoli’s entire life!”
She had thought so countless times over the years.
And she had remained immersed in that incomparable happiness ever since.
Du Qiangwei glanced at Su Xiaoli, whose face was radiant with joy, and felt that none of Teacher Ruiz’s praise had been exaggerated in the slightest.
Although she herself was widely acknowledged as a top-tier beauty, and Qilin and Lena, whom she had met over the past two days, each possessed their own unique charm, she had to admit that while their beauty was distinctive and by no means inferior, none of them possessed Su Xiaoli’s peerless impact.
Enchantingly beautiful enough to topple a city, capable of captivating the soul and overturning all living hearts.
Even with the girl’s youthful purity—and even her occasional foolishness—she could not conceal the innate seductiveness revealed by every frown and smile.
If one took the fatalism of genes into consideration, Du Qiangwei seemed to understand what Ge Xiaolun had meant when he told her not to ask about Su Xiaoli’s parents.
“Then, Xiaolun, how about the four of us sit in that pavilion over there? The dark-energy-powered flight system I designed for you is ready for use.”
Ruiz pointed toward a nearby pavilion.
“Oh? That fast? Thank you for your trouble, Teacher Ruiz.”
Ge Xiaolun was slightly surprised. The four of them soon reached the pavilion and sat down.
“It was hardly any trouble. This is merely a common dark-energy propulsion method. I only simplified it a little, and it would not be very practical for anyone else.”
Leaning on his cane, Teacher Ruiz transferred the design to Ge Xiaolun and explained with a smile, “But you can use the anti-void to break free of the restraints of gravity and friction, so you do not need much thrust. It should still be usable.”
Ge Xiaolun nodded as he entered the program. Although his current knowledge was still insufficient, he could easily understand these simple principles.
Every god in the Super God universe possessed a distinct method of flight, each with its own characteristics.
The angels had their Wings of Time and Space, the Sun Civilization had its Golden Light Traversing the Earth, and the demons had their demonic wings.
Once he mastered this flight system, his method of flying would probably resemble Sun Wukong’s.

Its drawback was that the thrust was insufficient.
The advantage, however, was that he was almost entirely unaffected by resistance.
It could serve as a transitional method before he activated his angel wings.
“But I did hear that you gave Commander Du and Lena quite a lesson today. It is a shame I was not there in person to witness it. What a pity!”
Ruiz stroked his beard and suddenly sighed, looking at Ge Xiaolun with considerable emotion.
Ge Xiaolun paused at that. After thinking for a moment, he said, “I did not expect you to have heard about it too, Teacher Ruiz... Come to think of it, I have not yet apologized to you. I mentioned your matter as an example during the meeting. I hope I did not cause you any trouble.”
The two of them continued talking while Du Qiangwei and Su Xiaoli quietly watched from the side.
Su Xiaoli naturally understood nothing of the matter.
But when Du Qiangwei suddenly heard that Ge Xiaolun had given her father and Lena a lesson that day, her eyes widened and her ears perked up.
“Hey, what are you talking about? You are too polite, Xiaolun.”
When Ruiz heard that Ge Xiaolun had apologized to him first, he quickly waved his hand with a laugh. “Besides, what happened yesterday was indeed the teacher’s fault. Without the assumptions made by your teacher, Angel Yan, and Lena, Lena would never have made that mistake.
“And no one came looking for trouble with me anyway. Everyone simply muddied the waters and let the matter pass.”
After half a day, he had naturally heard about what had happened.
Apart from Du Jiao and the others sharing their delight over the Galaxy’s Might’s extraordinary performance, they had also intended to remind him of his own part in the matter.
Although Angel Yan and Lena had directly negotiated over matters concerning Blue Star the previous day, Ruiz had been the one who had treated Ge Xiaolun as an afterthought and arranged the connection between them.
No one had come to blame him, but a mistake was still a mistake.
“We did not mean any harm, but we still committed a serious error by overlooking you, Xiaolun. I am the one who should be apologizing.”
Ruiz’s voice carried a trace of remorse.
Now that he thought back on it—especially the moment when Ge Xiaolun had turned and walked away during his negotiations with Angel Yan—he finally realized how their behavior must have appeared in Ge Xiaolun’s eyes.
In their own eyes, and in the eyes of the gods, Blue Star itself had always been under the protection of divine civilizations such as the Sun Civilization.
Among them, the Sun Civilization wielded the greatest influence. Blue Star was essentially regarded as its vassal, something held in the palm of its hand.
Blue Star was merely a weak and primitive planet.
Although he, Old Du, and the others did not truly think that way deep down, they could not help temporarily following that shared understanding.
Thus, if the angels wanted to negotiate matters concerning Blue Star, they would naturally seek out the Sun Civilization.
What none of them had expected was that Xiaolun’s vision could be so broad and his insight so terrifyingly sharp...
Like a young tiger roaring in the valley, frightening every beast beneath the heavens.
“Teacher Ruiz, just as I told Lena, what is past is past. Besides, you are my teacher.”
Ge Xiaolun smiled and shook his head, unwilling to dwell on the matter.
Some things only needed to be acknowledged. After all, neither Lena nor Ruiz had acted with malice; more than anything else, they had sincerely intended to help.
“Very well, very well. Since that is what you say, Xiaolun, I will not dwell on it either.”
Ruiz nodded in relief without making a fuss.
The apology had been necessary. After Ge Xiaolun had displayed a certain level of understanding, Ruiz could no longer treat him like a child.
Put plainly, once Ge Xiaolun had become aware of his identity as a god, the people of Blue Star might still need to observe and assess him—but Ruiz was already seeing and facing a young god.

Even though this god had not yet ascended to godhood, even though he had not learned so much as the basic common knowledge of divine civilizations, he absolutely must not be treated lightly.
“Wait...”
At last, Du Qiangwei could not hold back any longer. “Teacher Ruiz, what are you two talking about? What lesson? What apology? You apologized to Xiaolun? I do not understand any of this!”
Had she somehow crossed into another world?
Or had she simply lost a chunk of her memory?
She felt that she had been following Ge Xiaolun almost every step of the way, apart from during the morning meeting.
But had that meeting not been about forming the Fearless Company and related matters?
Had she missed something especially important?
“Heh heh heh heh, I had forgotten that Qiangwei still did not know about any of this.”
Ruiz froze for a moment, then nodded with a laugh. “Qiangwei, you may not know this yet, but Xiaolun already counts as half a god of Great Xia—and half your god as well.
“I will send you the proceedings of the meeting later. You can take your time digesting them.”
“Half a god of Great Xia? My half-god?”
Du Qiangwei stared in astonishment. She pointed at Ge Xiaolun, then at herself.
“You have got to be kidding!”
“It means that if I tell you to do something, you have to do it. You are not allowed to resist, okay?”
Ge Xiaolun explained with a beaming smile.
“Tch.”
Du Qiangwei did not believe him.
Gods? Great Xia did not believe in such things.
Perhaps Teacher Ruiz had not lied to her, but surely he had not meant it the way Ge Xiaolun did.
If that were really the case, would it mean that if Ge Xiaolun told her to stick out her rear, she would have to stick out her rear?
Utterly absurd.
“Then, Xiaolun, do you want to study some more technology today, or are you planning to spend the day accompanying Xiaoli?”
Ruiz had no intention of continuing to fill Du Qiangwei’s head with ideas. He turned to Ge Xiaolun and asked cheerfully, “Put the Northern Capital and River City aside for now. Lena has not returned yet, and waiting half a day will not make a difference.”
He naturally knew that Ge Xiaolun intended to lie in wait at those two locations. His intentions were good, of course, but Ruiz did not want him to remain so tightly wound.
The Super God Academy was a place for nurturing gods. One of its most fundamental principles was teaching gods to understand priorities and distinguish the important from the trivial.
Ge Xiaolun nodded as well. In any case, Scathach probably would not appear today. And even if it did, there was nothing he could do about it. At most, he could find another opportunity to go to Mars and capture it later.
He was not excessively tense either.
After thinking for a moment, he looked at Ruiz and said, “Teacher Ruiz, I would like to learn some basic knowledge about genetic weapons, as well as general knowledge of cosmic civilizations. I would also like historical records concerning the Deno Civilization, the Sun Civilization, the Divine River Civilization, the Angel Civilization, the Nether River Civilization, and the other civilizations. Do you have any materials here that are as comprehensive as possible?”
Ruiz could not help pausing when he heard this.
