Chapter 60: Flame-Headed Captain Hetra
"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!"
Several crescent-shaped light blades slashed toward Birdon, but ground-to-air combat was certainly not Eleking's forte.
All of these attacks were easily dodged by Birdon one by one.
This infuriated Eleking so much that he stamped his feet in frustration.
"Gegi!"
If you have the guts, come down and fight on the ground! If that doesn't work, let's fight in the water! What kind of skill is it to just keep flying in the sky all the time?
"Hahahaha, you foolish monster, so what if you're big? In front of me, Dark Agent Dada, you're worth nothing at all."
The Alien Dada possessing Birdon said with considerable smugness.
"Then why don't you take a look behind you?"
A sudden voice rang out.
Hudra had arrived behind Birdon with extreme speed!
He exerted great force with his legs and kicked Birdon right in the buttocks.
Although the impact wasn't overwhelmingly huge, it was by no means small.
Birdon immediately lost its balance and fell.
It crashed heavily onto the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
"Gegi!"
Eleking's eyes lit up as he strode forward.
His tail lashed mercilessly across Birdon's body, wreathed in electric currents that caused Birdon to shriek in agony.
"Eleking, leave this fellow to me, go fight the others."
Hudra quickly shouted.
Up until now, he hadn't managed to solo a single enemy yet.
Well, "hatching" out of the iron shell of King Joe didn't really count.
"Gegi?"
Eleking tilted his head.
He actually wanted to beat up this scruffy bird too.
However, since Hudra was so eager to solo this scruffy bird, his magnanimous majesty King Eleking would generously let him have it!
Eleking shifted his gaze and looked toward the other battlefields.
Carmine was whipping Nova, and the situation seemed to be progressing steadily in their favor.
Zetton was locked in a tug-of-war with Jumbo King, which looked to be a fairly even match.
Jumbo King was, after all, the boss of the Ace TV series, and according to lore, the strongest Terribles Beast besides the Ultimate Terrible Monster Saururus. He was also a combination of the best parts of multiple Terrible Beasts, making him essentially a "Terrible Beast Tyrant."
He was once translated as the Terrible Beast King.
His strength surpassed those of the previous King Joe, Verokron, and Black King.
For the time being, neither Zetton nor he could do anything to the other.
Meanwhile, Darram, who was fighting Galberos, was in a much less optimistic situation.
Chimera Beasts were extremely troublesome.
Galberos, whose prototype was the hound of hell Cerberus, was even more so. Its three heads had distinct divisions of labor: one biting, one spitting fire, and one hypnotizing, leaving the brute-style Darram in utter misery.
Decision made, help Darram first!
"Gegi!"
Eleking lunged toward Galberos, launching crescent-shaped light blades at each of its three dog heads to halt its movements.
"My friend, great assist!"
Darram panted heavily, laughing heartily as he grabbed one of the dog heads and mercilessly hammered it with a fist larger and far sturdier than a truck's cab.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Every punch landed solidly with flesh and bone.
The entire dog-like face was twisted and deformed.
Even the formidable regenerative vitality of a Chimera Beast could not recover from this, and Galberos let out agonizing shrieks.
This sight would surely trigger any animal lover.
Eleking also stepped forward, wrapping his tail tightly around Galberos's body and constricting with all his might.
It looked like it wouldn't be long before Galberos was the first to exit the battlefield.
Over here.
"Ze-tton!"
Finding that Zetton could not forcefully overpower Jumbo King through sheer strength alone, Lin Yu commanded Zetton to change tactics.
Zetton grabbed a pair of Jumbo King's horns with both hands—horns whose fusion material was the head of the Ox-God Terrible Beast—and exerted frantic force!
That monstrous bull-headed Terrible Beast possessed physical strength that surpassed the vast majority of monsters.
Yet in the face of Zetton's supernatural strength, it caused no trouble at all!
"Ze-tton!"
"Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo!"
An ethereal and eerie sound slowly echoed as Zetton's hands suddenly tightened, causing creaking cracks to appear on that pair of horns!
Zetton was going to snap Jumbo King's horns right off!
"Mieaosa!"
A roar erupted from Jumbo King's mouth. Claws originating from the Split Terrible Beast flashed with a cold glint as they lunged toward Zetton, who no longer had any free hands.
The target was precisely the glowing yellow organ on Zetton's chest!
"Ze-tton!"
Zetton's figure vanished instantly, reappearing on Jumbo King's back.
He extended his hands once more, grabbed the cracking horns, and exerted a ferocious yank!
"Snap!"
The pair of horns was snapped completely off!
"Mieaosa!"
Jumbo King let out a shrill howl, thrashing wildly in an attempt to shake Zetton off.
However, Zetton remained unmoved.
A fireball condensed on his face, bombarding Jumbo King at virtually point-blank range!
A trillion-degree fireball.
"Boom!"
Amidst a violent and massive explosion, Jumbo King suffered severe damage.
This Terrible Beast, which could almost ignore the Esmeretellim Ray, became even more frantically enraged by its injuries.
Yet anyone with eyes could see that this was merely the last struggle of a trapped beast.
It wouldn't be long before Jumbo King fell to defeat alongside Galberos.
The situation here was progressing smoothly.
Carmine and Hudra, however, were not having such an easy time.
Nova had transformed into a disk form, flying in mid-air and continuously harassing them with rays while refusing to engage in a direct, head-on collision.
"What a disgusting fellow."
Carmine frowned.
Her whip lashed through empty air, over and over again.
Hudra, on the other hand, was even more pitiful.
He had originally thought Birdon was a weakling that he could take down all by himself.
Little did he expect that Birdon's strength was even greater than his own uninjured state!
"I refuse to believe that I, Hudra, cannot take down a mere scruffy bird!"
Hudra lunged forward fiercely, swinging his legs with agility to attack Birdon.
Yet Birdon seized the opportunity, knocking Hudra to the ground with a single sweep of its wing.
It unhesitatingly unleashed a torrent of fierce flames from its beak!
"I dodge!"
Hudra executed a carp kipper leap, forcibly evading the sheet of fire.
"Too slow, too slow, such attacks cannot hit a nimble warrior at all!"
Hudra wiped his nose with a graceful gesture.
Huh? Why did the top of his head feel so hot?
"Hudra, your head!"
Darram's astonished voice rang out.
"What's wrong with my head?"
Hudra was momentarily stunned.
"Could my hairstyle be ruined? No, I can't change the hairstyle of my giant form..."
Puzzled, Hudra touched his head, only to scald his hand in the process.
His head... was on fire?!
Only at this moment did the intense pain finally catch up with him.
The full-body comminuted fractures had brought Hudra not only all-over pain, but also a sense of numbness that spared him from dying of agony.
The downside of this numbness was that his head was only now starting to hurt!
"Ah!!"
Hudra shrieked, running around blindly with a ball of fire blazing atop his head.
This scene seemed strangely familiar.
It felt as though the eldest brother of a certain Ultra Brother had this exact limited form.
"This is the consequence of underestimating me, Dark Agent Dada!"
Dada inside Birdon laughed smugly, controlling Birdon to step forward and beat the fallen dog, thrashing Hudra so hard with its wings that he lost all sense of direction.
Meanwhile, down below.
Two figures wearing GUTS uniforms also witnessed this scene!
"Oh no, that giant looks like it's about to be beaten to death."
Shinjo gripped his sidearm and panted heavily as he spoke.
They had only just flown their GUTS Wing No. 1 inside when they were forced to crash-land due to the abnormal local magnetic field.
The two of them had simply run in entirely on foot.
"These giants look so familiar."
Daigo clutched his head in bewilderment.
He always felt as though these three giants looked somewhat familiar.
"Alright, stop worrying about whether they look familiar, let's hurry up and help. I've read about this monster's weaknesses in Captain Lin Yu's files. The volcanic monster Birdon is skilled in fire attacks, and its beak contains a deadly poison, but the source of the poison is those two poison sacs hanging beside its beak. As long as those are blown up, Birdon is finished!"
"If we aim and shoot carefully, we have a chance!"
Shinjo said hastily.
"Eh, who would have thought that you, Shinjo, actually read the files?"
Daigo looked at Shinjo as if he were an alien.
Was this still the reckless Shinjo from his memories?
"Daigo, what do you mean by that? Why shouldn't I carefully memorize monster files? You guys underestimate me, Shinjo!"
Shinjo's face darkened as he spoke.
Actually, he hadn't read them at all; it was his younger sister Mayumi who read them and nagged him about them every single day, telling him to memorize more.
She practically treated the files written by Lin Yu as gospel.
His ears had practically grown calluses from hearing it, but whenever he showed impatience, he would get a beating, leaving him with no choice but to listen carefully.
He hadn't even studied this hard back in school.
And lo and behold, listening more had indeed been useful; he had remembered it.
"Of course I didn't mean that, let's hurry and—what is this?"
Daigo gave an awkward chuckle of explanation, only to catch sight of a pair of doll-like figures under a tree nearby.
Those were... Golza and Melba!
Daigo's heart skipped a beat, and he picked up the two figures.
Why would such figures be here?
"Hey, there are crystal-made toys here, and they look pretty nice. I'll take them back for Mayumi."
Shinjo spotted a pair of crystal items on the other side and brought them over as if he had struck gold.
These two were... Transparent Spark Lenses!
Looking at this combination, Daigo felt a bit dazed.
A thought in his mind told him these were no ordinary toys!
"Daigo, what's wrong with you?"
Shinjo looked at the dazed Daigo and waved a hand in front of his eyes.
Casually, he picked up the Melba figure from Daigo's hand.
"Monster figures? Why would such things be here?"
"Huh, what's this on the bottom of the feet? Why does it seem to match the toy I picked up?"
"Let's poke it and see."
Shinjo aimed a Transparent Spark Lense toward the socialization emblem on the soles of Melba's feet and poked it.
The next second.
"Ultra Spark, Melba!"
The Transparent Spark Lense emitted a dazzling radiance, and faintly, a Galactic array materialized!
Before Daigo's dumbfounded gaze, a pillar of white light rose right beside him!
Shinjo vanished, replaced by a giant avian monster!
It was so large that Daigo couldn't even clearly see its upper body when he looked up.
Thud.
The other unused Transparent Spark Lense dropped beside Daigo.
He fell into deep contemplation.
Was he still dreaming right now?
It must be a dream, right?
This definitely had to be a dream!!
How could Shinjo possibly turn into Melba just by poking a Melba figure with a toy?!
This defied all science!!
Daigo picked up the Transparent Spark Lense and poked the soles of the Golza figure as well.
He refused to believe it!
"Ultra Spark, Golza!"
Another pillar of white light rose, Daigo vanished, and in his place stood the ancient monster Golza.
Fine, he believed it.
The world really was just this unscientific.
