Chapter Sixteen: Training—the Crescent Moon Blade of Qieshan
Day and night alternated, and the next day arrived.
Lin Yu left the bustling base early in the morning.
Keigo Masaki had been searching the world for records of peaceful lands for several years. Naturally, there were several suspicious places beyond his ability to investigate thoroughly.
Now, with the manpower and resources of the HUD team, he couldn’t wait to take action.
“Screech—!”
With the piercing sound of brakes fading beyond a dense forest, Lin Yu gracefully stepped down from the large pickup truck.
He looked around at the sparsely populated surroundings where a faint scent of smoke lingered. Many trees had been scorched and burnt in the forest. Lin Yu nodded in satisfaction.
“Chihara Forest. Three months ago, a plant-like alien from the Waial Star appeared here. He infected an ordinary village nearby, turning the inhabitants into mutated plant-like thralls.”
“Fortunately, the defense forces discovered it in time. This creature had an obvious weakness—fire. Several defense squads joined forces and eradicated the Waial alien in this forest. The wildfire raged for seven days and nights before being extinguished.”
“Now, this place has truly become a no-man’s land.”
Gazing at the silent forest, Lin Yu recalled the information in his mind.
So much calamity.
“Alright, let’s begin the training.”
“King Aire!”
Above, a black hole tore open.
The massive figure of King Aire passed through the game's barrier and arrived in reality!
“Gegi!”
King Aire let out a cry, his crescent-shaped antenna eyes spinning as he searched the area, seeking his enemy.
But… the surroundings were empty.
“Stop looking. This time, you’re not here to fight. There’s no enemy.”
Lin Yu said, half amused.
“Aiao~”
Hearing there was no battle, King Aire relaxed considerably and plopped down on the ground, causing the earth to tremble.
His slippery tail, like a prehistoric giant python, slowly slithered across the earth and extended in front of Lin Yu.
Perhaps thanks to a special ability granted by the game, Lin Yu could understand the meaning behind his monster’s calls.
He wanted Lin Yu to climb onto his shoulder.
“On your shoulder?”
Lin Yu was momentarily stunned, then broke into a grin.
“Of course, no problem.”
He stepped onto King Aire’s tail. Unlike the rough handling of Bermuda, Granrain, or Garula, King Aire gently lifted him onto his shoulder.
Even just on his shoulder, the height was a full fifty meters!
Vast stretches of destroyed forest came into view.
“Feels like Pikachu sitting on Ash’s shoulder,” Lin Yu joked.
He casually pointed to a section of the woods.
“King Aire, show me your fastest crescent light blade and your most powerful crescent light blade, one after the other!”
“Gegi!”
Electric light gathered in King Aire’s mouth, and with near-instant speed, he shot out three small blades of light!
And he kept firing!
“Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Each light blade cut through several to a dozen trees, blasting them apart.
They left behind craters and burnt stumps.
“The power isn’t strong enough to cause significant damage to monsters. Against tank-like monsters such as Granrain or Garula, it can’t even break their defenses.”
“But it’s great for clearing out minions, like alien ships, or disrupting enemy movements.”
Lin Yu silently estimated the power and had a clear idea of the instant crescent light blade’s utility.
“Now, show me the one with maximum power.”
King Aire paused his movements. A vast amount of electric light gathered, charging for a full minute. Then a crescent-shaped cutting light blade shot forth!
Unlike the earlier blades, this one was enormous and slower. After charging, it took several seconds to fully form into a blade nearly as large as King Aire’s body.
The violent energy was terrifying—inside it was not just electricity, but nuclear power as well!
The blade rested by King Aire’s mouth, resembling a guillotine wielded by Ace.
Lin Yu noticed King Aire’s expression flicker with pain!
Even he himself felt discomfort; without Ultraman’s psychic protection and King Aire’s defense, a normal person standing this close would have been burnt to a crisp.
“Has the energy output reached the body’s limit?”
“That’s enough, King Aire.”
“Whoosh—!”
As soon as Lin Yu spoke, the massive crescent light blade shot forward like a runaway missile!
The terrifying electric nuclear energy crackled through the air. Before it even touched anything, it scorched the forest.
The huge crescent nuclear blade crashed into a mountain!
Under Lin Yu’s slightly horrified gaze, the mountain was sliced through as if it were tofu!
The blade angled slightly upward, flying toward the sky after cutting through the mountain.
With no further obstacles, it soared heavenward until it vanished.
Only a scattering of stars remained.
Some distant onlookers mistook it for a shooting star.
“This power is outrageous, truly guillotine-level…”
“Even Granrain or Garula wouldn’t survive a direct cut!”
“Not to mention the steel monsters like Kinkyo, Implaiza, or Galatron—they wouldn’t dare to take that hit.”
Lin Yu admired the power.
If it weren’t for the long charge time, King Aire’s attack could easily slaughter most Ultraman series enemies.
“Aiao…”
King Aire sat down heavily again, panting, his chest rising and falling.
Lin Yu nearly lost his footing.
Seeing this, still wanting to try his tail and electric attacks, Lin Yu softened.
“No more testing for now. You can train inside the game.”
“Thank you for your hard work, King Aire. Go rest well.”
“You performed excellently—the best King Aire!”
Lin Yu stroked King Aire’s slippery body, smiling with praise.
He could test inside the game too, but after all, it was just through a screen. That’s why Lin Yu had summoned King Aire into reality for some real testing.
“Aiao~”
King Aire’s voice, no longer in battle mode, sounded a bit silly. Hearing Lin Yu’s praise, he proudly raised his head, his crescent antenna eyes spinning faster.
His tail wagged like a dog’s.
But unlike a dog’s tail wagging to stir the wind, King Aire’s tail strikes cracked the ground and flattened trees.
Anyone standing nearby would be blown away.
“You silly thing…”
After teasing him a bit more, Lin Yu recalled King Aire back into the game’s “Monster Star.”
He got into the pickup, fastened his seatbelt.
Today’s training was successfully completed.
“Let’s go out for a stroll tonight. Honestly, I haven’t relaxed once since coming to this world.”
Always on edge and fearful.
With that thought, Lin Yu hummed a tune and floored the accelerator, drifting away.
Meanwhile, high above Earth—
A trembling blue monster was struggling to flap half a wing, desperately fleeing Earth.
The comet monster Dorakao.
Beside him was a small comet of moderate size.
Damn, didn’t my cousin say Earth had plenty to eat, nice clothes, and easy-to-bully natives?
He believed that nonsense. Just as he was riding the comet, ready to have an all-you-can-eat buffet on Earth, a mysterious light blade sliced through!
The comet itself was cut in half!
If he hadn’t been lucky and lying in the right spot, he’d have been sliced in two as well!
Easy to bully? Seriously?
I treat you like a cousin, and you treat me like a punching bag.
Bullying the honest beast.
Cousin, you’re such a baby. Next time you come to the universe, don’t let me catch you.
Otherwise, I’ll have to pluck your wings and slap your face!
Fuming, the barely escaped Dorakao fled at high speed.
He didn’t know yet that his cousin Dorakao was currently being used as a punching bag by Red King on some snowy mountain.
By now, he was probably close to death.
