Chapter Fourteen: Recruiting Seigo Masaki

HUD Team Base, Underground Command Level, Captain’s Office
Lin Yu sat in this modest office, idly playing with a small green disc about the size of a walnut, resembling a UFO.
Aside from size, it was identical to the Sphere that controls lava and transforms into Granrein.
Though small, the special energy emanating from this tiny orb was even more potent!
[Sphere Core Cell: Mysterious Lifeform—The most essential cell of the Dark Planet Gran Sphere, possessing the potential to grow into a new Sphere!]
Lin Yu read the description.
The potential of this thing... was terrifyingly strong.
Gran Sphere, also known as the Sphere Black Hole, according to the Dyna TV lore, is a mysterious spherical cosmic lifeform that suddenly appeared on Mars with the purpose of preventing humans from venturing into space exploration.
As for why it wants to obstruct humans... that remained unsaid.
Perhaps it fears humanity leaving their home planet to challenge its authority and status.
Yet it never directly annihilates humans; several defeats of Dyna were warnings not to further develop space.
It wasn’t until the finale that it intended to destroy the solar system and consume—or rather assimilate—the entire universe, transforming the cosmos into a part of the Sphere itself!
Lin Yu suspected the Sphere’s strategy was to force various races to remain on their home planets, advancing technology there, out of fear that if they ventured forth prematurely, a powerful adversary might emerge.
Once sufficiently developed, it would swallow them whole.
Like... farming.
Fatten them up before consumption.
The Sphere itself was a kind of highly intelligent cosmic organism that, out of fear of limited lifespan, integrated its lifeforms—organic and inorganic alike—into the very fabric of its planet.
In the Dekar TV series, this entity was subdivided further into “Soldiers,” “Kings,” and the “Mothership.”
Countless Soldiers were akin to the spheres that created Granrein.
There were five Kings, one of which formed a massive barrier sealing Earth, making it extremely difficult even for Dekar Ultraman to pass through.
The final Mothership was the core “Gran Sphere” itself, manifested as the main antagonist Zawols in Dekar TV, whose power rivaled that of the Ultimate Ultra.
Its goal was similarly to devour the universe.
From the deranged supporting character Agamus in Dekar TV, it was revealed that a century into the future of the Ted universe, the Sphere Mothership’s Kings besieged many planets, deploying Soldiers to massacre and suppress, forcing the war-torn cosmic civilizations into uneasy alliances.
“So familiar a script. Isn’t this Earth where I am now?”
“Various nations, each with their own madness, rapidly united under external threat, brotherly close.”
“Sure enough, this world—no, this entire universe—is a mess.”
“The kind of noble and righteous characters like Ultraman, the utopia of the Land of Light, are far too few.”
Lin Yu sighed deeply.
He squeezed the Sphere Core Cell in his hand, noting its springy texture.
“But back to the point, how shall I employ you?”
Gazing at the walnut-sized cell, he pondered.
Use it to possess a lifeless object, creating a Sphere Fusion Beast?
No, that would be wasteful!
“Indeed, you must become a brand-new Sphere!”
“And a brand-new Sphere needs a planet as its base... hmm... a planet.”

Names of planets flashed through Lin Yu’s mind.
No life... well, in the Ultra worldview, other planets in the solar system like Mars or Jupiter might harbor life.
And there were also the planets of other cosmic beings!
Such as Kiriarod, Magma, and Zarab.
Those alien planets seemed quite suitable!
“Raising a mysterious lifeform myself? That sounds promising.”
Lin Yu squeezed the springy cell again and put it away.
Being a game reward, placing it in the in-game inventory was standard procedure.
“Ding ding ding!”
The office phone rang.
Lin Yu glanced at it and answered.
“Hello?”
“Captain Lin Yu, a filthy man claims you sent him here. He’s currently at our base entrance.”
The guard’s voice came through.
So, Keigo Masaki had arrived.
“Bring him in.”
“Yes, sir!”
The call ended.
Moments later, the door was knocked on.
“Enter.”
Keigo Masaki appeared, disheveled and grimy, eyes swollen red, yet trembled with excitement and nervousness.
He looked at Lin Yu, recalling his posture underground, shivering with thrill!
This was excitement.
He couldn’t recall how long ago he had grown dissatisfied with being ordinary.
Until he delved into ancient texts, uncovering secrets of the super-ancient era, and through medical analysis, discovered his genes slightly differed from the majority.
A bold hypothesis filled his craving for transformation.
He was a descendant of humanity from the super-ancient period, bearing the legendary super-ancient genes!
Unearthing super-ancient power, with these genes, he could wield it and become... a savior!
But the appearance of Garura struck a blow.
Years of excavation and detection became a joke.
Had it not been for Lin Yu’s arrival, he might have already perished.
Yet it was Lin Yu’s presence that kindled hope!
Hope to become the savior!
On his way here, Keigo Masaki had not remained idle; he thoroughly researched Lin Yu.
A gifted scholar, hailed as a genius, once invited by a defense team to be their leading scientist but had declined, Lin Yu’s connections ran deep.
He learned Lin Yu was a “specialist in anti-monster and alien operations.”
Captain of the HUD Team, one of Tokyo’s three major defense teams!
Who would have guessed this captain was the mysterious force behind King Aile!

“Let me introduce myself. I’m Lin Yu, captain of the HUD Team.”
“Our team recruits abnormal humans and extraterrestrial life.”
“Now, Mr. Keigo Masaki, you may submit your application.”
Lin Yu smiled softly.
“Abnormal humans?”
“Hahaha, indeed, I am not normal!”
“Captain Lin Yu, I’m willing to join the HUD Team. I’ll draft and send my resume later!”
Keigo Masaki laughed heartily, then turned serious, speaking formally.
He was clever—he had guessed why Lin Yu called him here.
If it were for releasing monsters, they would have arrested or even killed him on the spot.
With Keigo Masaki’s addition, the HUD Team was no longer a one-man show.
Their recruitment speed was rather astonishing.
“Sit down. How did you discover Garura?”
Lin Yu tapped the desk, curious.
Without Tiga, what drove Keigo Masaki to excavate these super-ancient ruins?
He was genuinely curious.
“Well,” Keigo Masaki began explaining, recounting how he learned of super-ancient legends through ancient texts and discovered his super-ancient genes through scientific means.
Even Garura was deduced based on geographical clues in those texts.
Lin Yu frowned deeply.
No way.
Ancient texts from thirty million years ago? Still preserved?
Not even a vacuum could preserve them, right?
Forget it, definitely some kind of black technology.
“Do you have that ancient text with you?” Lin Yu asked.
“No. It’s very damaged, only a few pages remain. I keep it hidden and usually read from a handwritten copy.”
Keigo Masaki pulled out a relatively new notebook from his pocket.
Lin Yu was about to take it but froze when he saw the bold title on the cover.
“In my impression, this world was already messed up enough... but it turns out...”
“It’s even more messed up than I thought.”
The notebook was boldly titled:
“The Chronicles of Taiping’s Customs and Land.”
