Chapter 3: The Knight of the Oath
“This is not a peaceful world.”
No manual was needed; the scattered skeletons along the road and the chaotic mass graves on either side were enough to tell the truth.
When entering the city, when bribed by the guards, Leon smiled along, but it felt unnatural.
Mocked as a “degenerate hybrid,” the guard casually snatched a handful from the nearby cargo truck, his greedy smirk unhidden... What unsettled Leon more was the indifferent faces of the onlookers, as if this was all perfectly normal.
“Is it truly right just because it’s always been this way?”
But he knew well that the weak cannot dictate terms to the powerful.
Once again, he transformed into a “chameleon,” attempting to blend into the rules of this new world.
It was quite easy—just feign blindness, use his keen senses to avoid trouble, and protect himself well.
Thus, he witnessed the city’s sorrow... cheap prostitutes, beggars with broken feet, and assassins dragging bloodstained tails as they passed.
He lied—he had indeed seen the serial killer the officers spoke of, but only trembling in the shadows.
“No, this is not right...”
Only when alone, facing his own reflection in the mirror, would Leon speak the truth.
“Yes, this is wrong. Black is black, white is white... to let evil run rampant is evil itself!”
At that moment, the same voice echoed within him, and his murmurs were answered by an unknown presence.
“Judgment Strike!”
A silver blade tore through the sky, a verdict forged in steel that split space itself.
Roaring forth was not only an ancient heroic spirit but also a young man forced to wear a false smile!
“Justice, never compromise!”
The sacred knight’s ancient vow manifested as a shining blade, shattering the cramped space. The once-heroic sword now radiated a dazzling silver light in his hands, surpassing even its original wielder.
“Ahhh!”
Outside, a scream pierced the air.
Broken down doors revealed a terrified inn clerk, looking utterly innocent...
“So, it was you who lured them here?”
Above Leon’s eyes, a scale emblem appeared as he raised his right hand.
“In the presence of the scale of law, sin cannot hide... Domain of Judgment.”
A dazzling red light enveloped the clerk, the power of the goddess of justice enacting her verdict.
Such a hue of sin light had, within two weeks of activation, claimed at least three lives.
“Clack.”
A severed head flew through the air, blood splattering across Leon’s face, yet he remained unmoved.
Sword in his left hand, his right hand maintained the domain of judgment. Through the sacred scale’s holy sight, the entire inn glowed a deep, bruised red.
Clearly, this was a den of iniquity, so...
“Judgment Strike!”
Criminals trading drugs were suddenly sliced in half.
“Purging Slash!”
The waiting shopkeeper was cut cleanly down the middle.
“Scoundrel Slash!”
A silver arc swung through, turning bewildered thugs into headless corpses.
At that moment, hurried footsteps sounded outside the hall—seemingly a powerful figure rushing over.
“I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
