Chapter 34: The Breaking Point of Yin Weiying

“Sorry. Actually… my name is Chen Yi.”
Yin Weiying’s almond-shaped eyes widened, her face filled with confusion, bewilderment, and disbelief.
Chen Yi took in every change in her expression.
From their brief interaction, he had already guessed that Yin Weiying was likely a member of the imperial clan. Combined with her remark that she “ought to accompany me to Mount Taihua to cultivate the Dao,” he immediately realized who she was—the Goddess of Taihua for this sixty-year cycle.
The Goddess of Taihua…
If he remembered correctly, the Goddess of Taihua in *Heaven Beyond Heaven* had been little more than a background figure, mentioned only in passing here and there. After completing the game once, he had still been reluctant to let it go, and had unexpectedly discovered her existence in one of the folders.
Only then had he learned that the Goddess of Taihua had originally been one of the heroines. For reasons unknown, however, she had never appeared in *Heaven Beyond Heaven* and had instead become discarded material.
Although she had been cut from the final version, quite a few traces of information about her remained. The tradition of the Goddess of Mount Taihua had deep roots. It was a method of ascension passed down from antiquity, whose subtlety lay in the union of a Jade Boy and a Jade Maiden. Through understanding passion within passionlessness, they would attain the Supreme Forgetfulness of Emotion and ascend to immortality.
Faced with a goddess of such distinguished origins, it was impossible to keep deceiving her forever. If she truly wished to investigate, she would certainly discover that he was not Min Ning at all.
Rather than passively waiting to be exposed, it was better to seize the initiative while he could.
Chen Yi continued:
“Thousand Household Commander of the Western Depot, Chen Yi, courtesy name Zunming.”
This time, even Yin Weiying’s pupils trembled faintly.
That… Thousand Household Commander of the Western Depot?
The man her father and the others wanted to kill?
“How… how could it be you?”
Yin Weiying finished speaking in astonishment, then turned her head toward Min Ning.
“Could he be Min Ning? No wonder… no wonder… such a profound karmic bond, both dragon and phoenix!”
Min Ning folded her arms across her chest and cast Yin Weiying an unhappy glance.
“That is indeed me. Min Ning, courtesy name Yuchi.”
She disliked the woman before her.
Yin Weiying’s entire body went numb. She looked at Chen Yi, then at Min Ning, finally realizing that she had been thoroughly played. Even with her excellent composure, her face now shifted from green to red and back again. Then she remembered seeing Chen Yi use the All-Seeing Eye earlier, and how her heartstrings had stirred ever so slightly. The humiliation became indescribable.
She had never suffered such a loss of face in her life.
Chen Yi, however, was utterly oblivious to propriety and asked with a grin:
“What is it? Will you still have me as your Dao companion, Goddess Yin?”
Yin Weiying’s ears turned crimson. She spun around and glared furiously at him.
“How dare you… How dare you behave so recklessly! You slight Daoists, proclaim that there are no gods, harbor divided intentions, and corrupt the true heart. You are a sinner whose crimes deserve death ten thousand times over!”
Hearing her curse him, Chen Yi could not help finding it amusing. The Goddess of Taihua probably did not know any vulgar swearwords. Even when insulting someone, she spoke in such a refined, archaic manner, quoting passages from the Daoist Canon.
“Oh, you’re getting flustered. How come you weren’t this flustered at the Hundred Blossoms Pavilion?”
Chen Yi could not resist adding fuel to the fire.
She became even more furious. Feeling that her words lacked force, she racked her brains for something harsher to say.

“An evil person who does not understand the Dao hears of its teachings and refuses to believe. Thus, three hundred thousand scarlet execution demons shall be sent to destroy him. An evil person who does not believe in the Dao shall be punished by Heaven, which will dispatch plague demons bearing seventy-two kinds of illness, so that disease may slay the wicked…”
The more she cursed, the more amused Chen Yi became. The more he laughed, the more enraged she grew, until her heart was churning like a sea beneath a storm. She raised her peach-wood sword and thrust it fiercely at him.
Before Chen Yi could react, Min Ning stepped forward and seized Yin Weiying’s wrist with astonishing speed. With a hard twist, she elicited a pained cry, and the peach-wood sword fell from Yin Weiying’s hand.
Chen Yi found the sight regrettable, but then again, Min Ning was a woman disguised as a man. Naturally, she had no inclination to show mercy to a beauty.
Yin Weiying turned her head, glancing at Min Ning before shooting Chen Yi another resentful look.
[Negative emotion: 90]
[Reward: Five years of true qi from Yin Weiying’s negative emotions.]
“Tsk, tsk. Looks like I really struck a nerve.”
Chen Yi picked up the peach-wood sword from the ground and teased her:
“Insults are one thing, but drawing a blade or sword is another. Besides, it is only a peach-wood sword. It may drive away ghosts, but it cannot kill anyone.”
Yin Weiying glared at him and snorted.
“I, Yin Weiying, distinguish clearly between gratitude and resentment, and strictly observe the Five Precepts of the Grand Supreme Lord. I would never kill anyone. I merely wished to teach a reckless villain such as you a lesson.”
Chen Yi tossed the peach-wood sword from his left hand to his right, then back again.
“Once blades are drawn, who is going to care whether you intended to kill or not? Besides, it is not as though we have no bond between us. Look—I just saved your life, did I not?”
When Chen Yi brought that up, Yin Weiying immediately felt she was in the wrong. But seeing him casually toy with her beloved sword, she grew indignant again.
“A bond? That bond disappeared the moment you deceived me. You committed the sin of slighting me.”
Chen Yi’s hand halted mid-toss. After a moment of thought, he asked:
“When you saw her, why did you say ‘what a pity’?”
Yin Weiying glanced at Min Ning and answered instinctively:
“I thought he was your…”
Then she realized she had let something slip.
Chen Yi narrowed his eyes and scrutinized the white-robed priestess.
“The fifth of the Grand Supreme Lord’s Five Precepts is not to speak falsely. It seems you know something. In consideration of the life I saved for you, why not tell me?”
Yin Weiying clenched her pearly teeth and shook her head.
Even if Chen Yi had not deceived her, she had never intended to save him from her father’s hands. Now that he had treated her with such contempt, she wished he would be torn apart by five horses.
Chen Yi shifted his gaze to Min Ning and said softly:
“Remove her clothes.”
Yin Weiying was instantly horrified. She stiffly turned toward Min Ning.
Min Ning frowned, clearly displeased by the idea of doing such a thing.
“Good girl,” Chen Yi said with a smile.

A chill ran through Min Ning. She glared at Chen Yi, then swiftly tapped several acupoints on Yin Weiying’s body with one hand, hindering her movements. The other hand moved to the sash around Yin Weiying’s Daoist robe.
Yin Weiying was thrown into panic. Her breasts rose and fell rapidly, her pretty face flushed a translucent red, and her lips seemed nearly bitten through. The scene was unbearably humiliating. Her father’s enemy was about to undress her, and the one helping him was none other than Min Ning—the Jade Boy of the prophecy, her future Dao companion!
“I am the daughter of Prince Jing, you audacious thieves! Shameless scoundrels, shameless… Don’t—don’t let my undergarments show. Stop… tie it back up, tie it back up!”
Once the sash came loose and her Daoist robe fell open, Yin Weiying was on the verge of collapse and could no longer bear it.
Chen Yi boldly studied the plain white undergarment beneath her robe. Her modest breasts heaved violently. He gauged their size in his mind: neither large nor small, perhaps just enough for one hand to hold.
A white-robed priestess who had attained the Supreme Forgetfulness of Emotion…
How much pleasure would there be in defiling her?
Tsk… He would have to find a way to make himself her sworn enemy.
“Don’t undo it! Don’t… I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you everything! Say something—please, say something!”
Min Ning’s hands continued moving. The priestess, unnerved by Chen Yi’s stare, cried out in frantic dismay.
Chen Yi made a gesture. Min Ning stopped and released the acupoints sealing Yin Weiying’s movements.
Yin Weiying gathered her disheveled robes around herself and trembled faintly.
“A renunciant does not speak falsely, but that does not mean I must tell you everything. I will say what I am willing to say. Listen, and do not question me further.”
Chen Yi nodded and returned the peach-wood sword to her.
Yin Weiying fastened her sash and gradually recovered her usual serene composure.
“I heard that Prince Jing’s household intends to kill you during the Day of Suppressing Bandits and Exorcising Demons.”
Chen Yi’s brows drew together slightly.
It was no surprise that Prince Jing’s household wanted him dead. But to strike during the Day of Suppressing Bandits and Exorcising Demons was another matter entirely.
And now that he thought about it, she knew of this plan—and she was Prince Jing’s daughter…
Chen Yi’s gaze suddenly sharpened.
Yin Weiying’s face paled, but she quickly calmed herself and said indifferently:
“I have nothing to do with this matter.”
Chen Yi’s brows relaxed slightly. Many renunciants regarded obedience to their precepts and strictures as more important than life itself. Besides, Yin Weiying was the Goddess of Taihua.
“In that case…”
Chen Yi had been about to tease her a little more, but the words stopped in his throat. A murderous intent spread from the depths of the alley. He turned toward the dimly lit street.
A swordsman approached step by step, carrying a lantern, a saber resting against his shoulder.
“Huang Liuqing, eighth-generation true heir of the White Willow Sect of Shannan Province.”
A martial artist announcing his identity…
Either he had come to make friends, or he had come to kill.
