Chapter 55: The President's Taste
Clutching the black crystal tightly in her palm, Olivia still couldn’t let go of the burdens weighing on her heart.
Whether it was sustaining the vast Stardust Society or relentlessly hunting down the witch, it was all driven by a desire for revenge against the weaker version of herself from six years ago.
In the reenacted scene by the onsite investigators, she helplessly watched as her teacher was pierced through the heart by the witch.
In the end, the so-called "Deep Layer," which had seeped into reality, was sealed off beyond reality by the divine miracle granted by the Enlightenment Deity.
Yet, Olivia knew her teacher was far stronger than she appeared.
Could it be possible that her teacher never truly died, but instead survived that final calamity through immense power and profound magical knowledge?
No one knew the answer; the probability was almost negligible.
Within the "Deep Layer," the world beyond the high walls overlaps with reality but is twisted to an extreme by some unknown force.
The deeper one goes, the further it drifts from reality, and the more terrifyingly distorted it becomes.
At a certain depth, even legends suffer from erosion of unknown origin, much like the wound on her arm that refused to heal on its own.
This meant that even if Olivia wanted to inquire, there was no suitable subject to ask—no one could provide an answer.
Still, there was no absolute rule. When the old capital fell six years ago, besides the people on the scene, there was another presence.
That was... the Enlightenment Deity.
This upright god, symbolizing wisdom, knowledge, inspiration, awakening, and truth, might hold the answers she sought.
But only the deity’s earthly proxies could communicate with the divine.
And the Enlightenment Deity’s proxy had disappeared into the sea long before Olivia achieved legendary status, making contact impossible.
When the black-haired woman asked what he wanted, Ron suddenly found himself caught in a difficult dilemma.
Just as Olivia had suspected, he had been feigning ignorance all along.
Although the "Canned Revelation" from the legendary was tempting, it was, after all, an item from the mission.
Whether he could hold onto it was another matter, but secretly pocketing it would make him a thief.
Moreover, Eugene Yarn was also in the know; if Ron didn’t help keep the secret, Eugene would likely spread the news of Ron stealing the "Canned Revelation" everywhere.
But helping to keep the secret meant falsifying the mission report.
Ron Griffith was the most timid and trouble-averse person—there was no way he’d foolishly hand such leverage to others.
If he helped hide the secret once, would he be threatened as a traitor next time?
The capital was rife with treachery; one had to be cunning to survive.
So, Ron chose to submit the entire mission report, but he did not immediately hand over the valuable "Canned Revelation."
If Olivia didn’t inquire, it would mean the president knew but chose to ignore it.
If she did, he could put on a tantrum and demand some benefit—after all, he wouldn’t lose out.
What Ron didn’t expect was that Olivia, this fierce woman, would choose to snatch it outright.
“You’ve disgraced the face of a legendary!” he thought.
After pondering for a while, Ron awkwardly asked, “President, do you have that?”
“Have what?” Olivia tilted her head in confusion, clearly displeased.
“Spit it out quickly; don’t waste my time with nonsense.”
“Uh... President, I mean, do you have any personal clothes? Something with your scent on it…”
Ron’s idea was simple—he wasn’t very concerned about the "Canned Revelation" itself, but about the added value that came with a legendary.
And Olivia, without a doubt, was also a legendary-level powerhouse.
Ron had initially wanted Olivia to get a spell scroll for "Meteor Swarm" to sell for money.
But considering the destructive power of "Meteor Swarm," he rejected the idea of letting such a dangerous item circulate in the market.
Apart from that, what else did this violent, strong, occasionally scatterbrained, yet beautiful woman have that was valuable but wouldn’t threaten world peace?
Probably only a few trivial things!
“What are you talking about?”
“Oh no, this guy’s gone bad!”
It was all that Elena’s fault, that shameless woman who kept coming around to flirt!
Hearing Ron’s words, the president was shocked; her face flushed from pale to red, never expecting to face such a situation herself.
Her fox-like eyes stared incredulously at Ron.
Seeing the boy’s clean face and height just a bit shorter than hers, Olivia inevitably fell silent.
At sixteen, it was indeed an age of sensitivity.
After much hesitation, the president felt she had to take responsibility and guide this minor back to the right path.
“Uh, Ron, can you tell me why you want the clothes?”
“Of course, to sell them openly!” Ron thought to himself.
Reciting a makeshift advertisement in his mind—“Olivia’s legendary outfit, 999 gold a slash, come at me if you’re a brother”—he was about to speak honestly but swallowed the word “sell” when he saw the president’s face flush with anger.
“Uh, don’t worry about it; I’ll put it to good use!” The boy’s face was serious as he continued, “Something close to the skin is best—stockings, thigh-high boots, old and unwanted underwear…”
“You’re just going to throw them away anyway, so might as well give them to me.”
“You’re asking for too much!”
The presidential office fell silent as Olivia was caught in a dilemma.
Adolescence was a phase everyone went through; she understood Ron’s restlessness.
But being the object of a teenage boy’s fantasies, the president felt a mix of emotions. Honestly, she didn’t dislike Ron—provided he stopped pretending to be naive.
Thinking this over, Olivia decided it was best to be straightforward. She cleared her throat and spoke earnestly:
“Ahem, Ron, you’re only sixteen. It’s not that I won’t give you anything, but at your age, doing these things isn’t good for your health!”
“What things?” The blond boy blinked, then asked with a puzzled expression, “President, what things have I done that are bad for my health?”
This guy was playing dumb again, thinking she wouldn’t see through it.
Olivia smirked inwardly, stepped closer to Ron, and fixed her sharp fox eyes on his as she rapidly questioned:
“Ron, are you still pretending with me?”
“I know all your dirty little thoughts. Trust me, I’ve been through this before.”
“Are you planning to do disgusting things with my personal clothes?”
“Are you going to lie in bed every night holding my clothes, playing with them, huh!?”
“Tell me the truth!”
“You shameless woman!”
Hearing this, Ron was utterly shocked; he never expected Olivia to speak such crude words.
Quick on his feet, the boy immediately replied with an innocent tone:
“President, what’s LOL?”
“If you don’t explain, I’ll ask Mr. Sid for clarification. I’ll tell him the president asked me to hold her stockings and LOL.”
End of page three.
