Chapter Twenty: Tales Beneath the Starry Sky

For the next hour or two, Bai Youqing led Bai Yuze toward the plush toy shop, browsing and touching items here and there.

Under the lingering, reluctant gazes of the stuffed animals, Bai Youqing pulled Bai Yuze into a jewelry shop. Unlike the expensive gold and silver ornaments on the first floor, this shop sold simple, youthful accessories—hair clips, headbands, bracelets, and necklaces. They were inexpensive, pretty, and durable; losing them wouldn't be a great tragedy.

Amidst an endless selection, the girl’s eyes settled on two items: the "Loximan Four-Leaf Clover" bracelet and the "Starry Sky Story" bracelet. Seeming torn, she turned her inquiring gaze toward Bai Yuze. "Brother, which one do you think is prettier?"

"I think they’re both nice. Why not buy both?" Bai Yuze glanced at them casually.

The Loximan Four-Leaf Clover bracelet featured a pale blue gemstone that sparkled under the lights. The Starry Sky Story bracelet was designed in the shape of a blooming star; compared to the former, it was more understated and refined. Overall, both had their own merits.

"I don't care, I want you to pick one for me~"

"The Starry Sky Story, then." Bai Yuze thought for a moment and chose the latter, hoping his sister would keep a lower profile. People fear fame just as pigs fear fattening; his sister had great talent as a magical girl and would surely carve out her own path in the future, but that would inevitably bring all kinds of overt and covert threats that were hard to guard against.

"Alright then." Bai Yuze smacked his lips. His sister had been different ever since she became a magical girl; her tone was much bolder than before.

Sitting next to him, Bai Youqing stared at her phone, looking for fun attractions in Wancheng District Park: the haunted house, bungee jumping, river rafting, the Ferris wheel, the pirate ship... She finally locked her gaze on the Ferris wheel. She had heard that the Ferris wheel at Wancheng District Park offered a view of the entire Yeqiu City.

Bai Youqing had wanted to come for a long time, but her friend Gu Xiaorou was always too scared. She felt that admiring scenery alone was meaningless; it was best enjoyed with one's best friend, or with someone you loved or were closest to.

After deciding on the destination, the two didn't rush. They found a fast-food restaurant first, and only set off after they were full and satisfied.

Wancheng District Park was one of the famous landmarks of the Wancheng District, covering nearly two million square meters with an extremely rich variety of activities. Naturally, the tickets were not cheap: two hundred and forty per person. This time, Bai Youqing didn't try to save face; Bai Yuze paid the bill. Upon entering the park and receiving their wristbands, Bai Youqing, having planned ahead, grabbed a park map from a nearby bulletin board. Her eyes scanned it before she pointed at the Ferris wheel. "I want to go on that!"

"Xiao Qing, I personally think the scenery from the Ferris wheel is most beautiful at dusk." After a slight pause, Bai Yuze pointed to a promotional poster for a live-action CSGO battle nearby. "How about we go play this first?"

From the moment he entered the park, his eyes had been firmly caught by that poster. If you're going to play a gunfight, it has to be real combat; computer shooting games were ultimately lacking a certain thrill. Once upon a time, the only request she had made to the authorities as a magical girl was to use real guns for target practice, but before the request was even approved, she had been kidnapped to the Abyss by the Demon Empresses.

Seeing the rare, fiery look in her brother’s eyes, Bai Youqing decided to indulge him for once. She was already a mature magical girl; she was no longer that spoiled, willful sister who needed her brother to look after her. *Sigh, I really do too much for this family…*

"Are you asking for a beating?" Bai Youqing grabbed the soft flesh at Bai Yuze’s waist and gave it a hard twist.

"Hiss! Okay, okay, you win! Where did you learn such vicious moves?"

As the two bickered and prepared to board the shuttle train to their destination, a tall woman in a light blue uniform approached them with an apologetic look. "Hello, I forgot to mention this when selling your tickets. The park is having a 'Cool Summer' event today. The park randomly draws from the ticket numbers, and rewards include things like free admission or free food and drinks. We just need to register your contact information. Is now a convenient time?"

"No need, we—"

Before Bai Yuze could finish, Bai Youqing had firmly covered her brother’s mouth. "Convenient, very convenient. Where do we register?"
