Section 110: Village and Town Income and Expenditure Statement
Compiling this balance sheet was truly exhausting; after working on it for over an hour, my head is spinning.
This section still hasn't reached the 3,000-word mark, but my brain feels so foggy that I really can't continue writing...
Although the school is a feudal-era building, it has strict architectural requirements: the technology level must reach 150, and the village must have 15 villagers with advanced skills. Previously, the technology level of Yanhuang Village had long exceeded the 150 requirement, but the number of villagers with advanced skills had remained at 14 until this morning. When a weaver started her work early and her farming and weaving skill upgraded from intermediate to advanced, Zhou Min immediately reported it to Ruoyan. Consequently, Ruoyan and Zheng Jun quickly planned the land, hoping to build the school as soon as possible to serve the villagers.
Unlike the fixed forms of other buildings, the internal layout of the school can be modified by the lord player based on their actual situation, provided the footprint remains the same. For example, players who pursue aesthetics can build pavilions and lawns in front of and behind the school, while those who prioritize practicality can increase the size of the lecture halls and research rooms.
After consulting with Zheng Jun, Ruoyan decided to lean toward a practical plan, removing the lawn in the courtyard to expand the lecture hall and research rooms. The pavilion at the front was kept; after all, it is a school, and it should retain a touch of elegance.
Li Zhan nodded with satisfaction after hearing Zheng Jun describe the plan in detail. He then turned to Ruoyan and said:
"Little Liu'er, are you tired? If you are, log off and get some rest; leave this to me."
Last night, while they were chatting at the archery range, they learned each other's real names: Ruoyan's name was Liu Ruoyan, and Li Zhan was, of course, Li Zhan. However, when talking about their personal situations, Ruoyan lied to Li Zhan, saying she lived with her grandparents and her parents were abroad. Because they were far away, they couldn't control her, so she had plenty of time to play games. Li Zhan told the truth: he lived in City D with his parents, but they lived separately. Recently, feeling frustrated with his career, he had started playing online games out of boredom.
Hearing Li Zhan call her "Little Liu'er," Ruoyan’s face turned slightly red. Since she was a child, no one other than her relatives and elders had ever addressed her so intimately, and she felt a strange sensation in her heart. Pouting slightly, she looked at Li Zhan with a hint of feigned resentment and said:
"I’m fine. I took a short nap in the early morning. I’m full of energy right now. You’re the one who’s been running around all night; you must be exhausted. You log off and rest first. I want to see the school I planned get built with my own eyes."
Li Zhan was indeed tired; his eyes were sore from not sleeping all night. Since Ruoyan insisted, Li Zhan didn't press the matter. They chatted a bit more, and Ruoyan sent the village's balance sheet, which she had organized before dawn, to Li Zhan. Li Zhan clicked the "Print" option at the top of the notepad and logged off.
As he took off his game helmet, a faint buzzing sound came from the printer connected to his computer, signaling that the balance sheet had finished printing. Li Zhan turned off the printer's notification tone, picked up the printout, and walked into the bathroom. After the sound of rushing water, he washed up quickly, took the printed sheet, and walked toward the kitchen while reading it.

After reading the balance sheet, Li Zhan let out a long sigh. With so much content, his eyes were blurred; he could imagine how carefully Ruoyan had compiled this report. Shaking his head with a wry smile, Li Zhan knew that he couldn't compare to Ruoyan when it came to attention to detail. He turned back and opened the refrigerator—the usual routine: instant noodles with eggs and ham. At that moment, the phone in the living room rang. Li Zhan straightened up and grabbed the extension from the wall.
"Hello, who is this?" Li Zhan asked.
"It's me," came a lazy voice from the other end.
"You? Who are you?" Li Zhan asked.
"Damn! You can't even recognize me?! Have you gone senile, kid?!"
The person on the other end was clearly furious and started shouting into the phone.
Li Zhan held the receiver away from his ear, waited for the shouting to stop, and then brought it back, saying:
"Just tell me, who annoyed you this time?"
Note:
Unhusked/Ears not removed: Grain and food are two different concepts. Grain refers to the quantity of sorghum after the ears have been cut; before consumption, it must go through a husking and threshing process in a mill to become sorghum rice (food).
Sorghum flour: A type of flour obtained by further finely grinding sorghum rice. It has a certain stickiness and can be used to wrap vegetables or meat fillings, which are then steamed for consumption.
