139: The Function of Reward Points (Part One)
When Alcyoneus and his remaining three divine generals hurried to the crime scene, Mutou and the others were already long gone, leaving only two corpses lying quietly on the ground...
"Damn it! These few newcomers actually dare to kill my trusted general and even rob the Gold Cloth that I obtained with such great difficulty! I will make them pay with their lives!" He conveniently forgot that if he hadn't attempted to hunt down Mutou and the others in the first place, such a disaster would never have happened... Some people are just like that; they never realize they are at fault, and everyone else is always to blame. In his mind, *I want to kill you, so you should just stretch out your neck for slaughter and not dare to resist.*
On the other side, Mutou and the others were hiding in their own private space to discuss matters.
Zigui chuckled and said, "I wonder if that Alc... whatever his name is, will jump up in anger when he sees his men were counter-robbed by us, hahaha!" Then he added, "Why are we hiding? I remember that old man saying the God of Earth only has an S-rank divine soul, and Gu Feng himself has S-rank strength. What are we afraid of?"
Mutou and Baldy had both fought against Cronus, and they vaguely felt that an S-rank powerhouse who had acquired a divine soul was not that simple.
Sure enough, Lu Daoxuan said indifferently, "An S-rank powerhouse who has obtained a divine soul has already entered the realm of deities. They can borrow the power of faith and the innate divine power matched to the divine soul itself. They are not opponents that ordinary S-rank powerhouses can withstand."
Baldy also chimed in, "That's right. Divine souls probably have some kind of bonus effect. Look at just that divine general under him—once he put on that so-called sacred cloth, I was no match for him. Furthermore, that earth power is indeed formidable. I estimate that even without the sacred cloth, once my Divine Dragon King transformation ends, I still wouldn't be his match on the ground... The power of the earth is endless; in a war of attrition, I cannot beat him."
Zigui opened his mouth as if to say something else, but a single sentence from Lu Daoxuan shut him up: "Don't forget, the Divine Dragon King we once faced was merely a divine experimental subject. Which of you right now has the confidence to single-handedly fight the Divine Dragon King?"
At the mere mention of the Divine Dragon King, a lingering fear gripped them all to this day; the coercion and combat instinct radiated by that gigantic body still filled them with dread.
"An S-rank divine soul is this powerful. No wonder they are so hard to come by," Gu Feng sighed. He was already an S-rank powerhouse. If he were to merge with an S-rank divine soul, what would he have to fear from any God of Earth?
While the others were talking, Mutou merely stared blankly at the Gold Cloth placed before him. This was the item he had forcibly retrieved despite the imminent danger of Alcyoneus's arrival.
"Mutou, do you recognize this thing?" Lu Daoxuan asked.
Mutou nodded and said, "Of course I recognize it. I've known about it since I was very young!"
Lu Daoxuan thought for a moment and said, "I understand. It's another one of those things that appeared in movies or similar media on your Earth!"
Mutou shook his head. "This time it's not a movie. It was a manga that was immensely popular for a time." He then roughly explained the plot of the manga and said, "This kind of Gold Cloth is a very high-tier existence even within the manga. The plane system prompt states that it's an A-rank item. But I just can't wrap my head around how things from a manga ended up here. Could there really be a Saint Seiya world out there... where everyone is an undying cockroach?!"
Lu Daoxuan pushed up his glasses and remarked, "I've found that the Earth you come from is a very interesting place, seemingly capable of reflecting information from other worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges."
"Worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges?" Mutou was slightly startled, then suddenly asked, "Could it be... that the worlds of movies, mangas, or novels actually exist? Lu Daoxuan, tell me!"
Lu Daoxuan waved his hand. "I'm not omniscient and omnipotent; how would I know!" He paused here for a moment before adding, "However, Earth truly is a strange place. Judging from what you've described, it seems that certain mediums on Earth are always able to transmit information from alien worlds. Could there... be a reason for this?"
Mutou, however, muttered to himself, "Could the worlds inside Earth's movies, mangas, and novels actually exist? I get it now. This Alcyoneus must have once entered the Saint Seiya world, and somehow managed to take out the Gold Cloth while he was there... This is simply too precious. This Gold Cloth is the sacred armor of the goddess Athena's strongest warriors; it definitely wouldn't be that easy to acquire!"
Suddenly, he grabbed Lu Daoxuan and asked, "Do you have a way to enter those movie or manga worlds?"
Lu Daoxuan replied, "I don't..."
Mutou felt a deep sense of disappointment, only to hear Lu Daoxuan continue, "However, there are people who provide such services in the Greater Plane Trading Spacetime!"
Mutou was overjoyed. "Really? Let's go, take me there quickly!"
Lu Daoxuan looked at him and said irrelevantly, "We've been blockaded at the door!"
Mutou was slightly stunned and asked in surprise, "What...?" Immediately afterward, he sensed someone outside the door, though due to the laws of the plane, outsiders could not enter the room unless they opened the internal space.
"All of you, get out here...?" An angry shout echoed in.
Daniel, who was directing the dwarves in constructing the internal space, heard this voice and said in surprise, "It sounds like one of Lord Alcyoneus's divine generals. How did you guys provoke him?"
Mutou shook his head. "We didn't provoke him; he provoked us."
Daniel pondered for a moment and said, "I understand. He sent a hunting party to rob your belongings!"
Mutou asked in surprise, "How do you know?"
Daniel chuckled and said, "Everyone in the Greater Plane Trading Spacetime knows that fellow is a robber. Then again, which powerhouse hasn't engaged in such a promising enterprise as robbery? It's just that none of them are as shameless as Alcyoneus, specifically setting up hunting teams to rob newcomers. I get it now; you must have been targeted by his men in the divine position trading district. But why would he chase you all the way here?"
Mutou nodded and said, "We slaughtered two of his subordinates!"
"Oh! Who did you kill?"
"One was named Cronus, and I don't know the name of the other!" Mutou answered honestly.
Daniel was shocked. "What? You... actually killed one of his four great divine generals? Oh, heavens! The strength of you newcomers is not bad at all! But now you're in big trouble; Alcyoneus is someone who holds grudges and seeks revenge for the slightest grievance."
"Humph!" Baldy stood up. "An S-rank powerhouse with a divine soul—I've been wanting to try him out." With that, he strode out. Having just fused with the divine power of the earth and upgraded all his skills, his confidence was infinitely expanding, and he was eager to find someone to spar with. Mutou and the others were not people who shied away from trouble; they exchanged glances and all followed him out.
Daniel yelled from behind, "Don't worry, the trading district is a safe zone; he wouldn't dare make a move here!"
The three individuals shouting outside the door caught sight of a tall man walking out. They were slightly startled, then sensed the same attribute of divine power radiating from this person, and roared angrily, "It's you! You're the one who killed Cronus!"
"It wasn't him; it was me!" Mutou pushed open the door and walked out. He saw three men standing outside, all dressed in red with white accents, wearing cold gazes, and physiques that could rival Baldy's. Aside from their facial features, their overall styling was remarkably similar to Cronus's, except that one of them wore a white cloak, marking his status as different from the others.
"Are you Alcyoneus?" Mutou asked.
"Humph! A bunch of greenhorns like you aren't worthy of Lord Alcyoneus showing up in person!" the man who spoke said. "I am Lottis, the first of the four great divine generals under Lord Alcyoneus."
With that, he glanced at Mutou and said, "You expect me to believe you could kill Cronus? Impossible!" As the first among the four great divine generals, his personal strength could not be underestimated. Naturally, he could sense Mutou's aura; judging from his surface momentum, Mutou seemed to be merely an S-rank powerhouse, whereas the divine general Cronus possessed a Gold Cloth and could borrow the power of the earth, putting his peak strength vaguely close to S-rank—definitely not something this person could handle.
Mutou sneered. "We don't need to say much else. We killed the person. As the saying goes, those who kill others must be prepared to be killed themselves. You came looking for us to exact revenge?"
"Humph! Hand over the Gold Cloth and come with me!"
"Hahaha..." Mutou let out a few hearty laughs. "Ridiculous. You expect us to go with you just based on that single sentence? Sorry, mister here has no time!"
Lottis's eyes flashed with a fierce glint. "How bold! You actually dare to defy the will of Lord Alcyoneus..."
"So what? Can you eat us? If you've got the guts, try touching a single hair on our heads!" Zigui teased.
"You..." Lottis was so enraged he was left speechless. This fellow was clearly taking advantage of the rule that no violence was allowed in the safe zone to mock him.
In the end, he could only say, "Fine, let's see if you have the guts to hide in the safe zone forever and never come out. Once you're tracked down by us, we'll make sure you die without a burial site." With that, he instructed the men behind him, "Assign people to monitor them around the clock. The moment they leave the safe zone, report back immediately!"
"Yes, Boss!" Two divine generals bowed and complied.
"Humph!" Lottis glared coldly at the group, flicked his cloak, and turned to leave with the two divine generals. He knew that since these people had the ability to finish off Cronus, they wouldn't be easily frightened.
As soon as those three left, Daniel poked his head out of the room and said mysteriously, "You're really in trouble now. Alcyoneus's tracking ability is extremely strong. As long as you don't return to your home plane, he can trace you in any mission world you go to."
Mutou smiled faintly and said nothing. He was confident that a combination of their group would be no less formidable than Alcyoneus.
Daniel added, "It looks like you need some life-saving items. I'll take you to a place!"
Thinking of this fellow's money-grubbing personality, a bad premonition arose in Mutou's heart as he asked, "You aren't planning to take a cut of our money, are you?"
Daniel looked blank and asked, "What cut?"
Mutou was speechless... Although they had no language barrier, the meanings contained in the dialects of various planes still required deep communication to truly understand one another. But Mutou certainly had no interest in communicating with him on this matter, so he simply said, "Lead the way... and don't even think about ripping us off!"
Daniel let out a hehe chuckle, a smile that was indescribably bizarre... and lewd.
